The Growl April 2016
Elementary Egg Hunt Students in Mrs. Clarkson s class recently read The First Tortilla. There was a tortilla recipe at the end of the story. After reading the story, each student pressed their own tortilla and helped to cook them on a griddle. Mrs. Clarkson reported that the tortillas turned out just fine, the kids had a blast, and they loved the corn tortillas. Right: Dominic Madron and Vanessa Mercado press tortillas. Texas Ranger Jake Burson spoke to Mrs. Hering s 4th grade Social Studies class. After studying the history of the Rangers, this was a great opportunity for students to hear from a member of the historic organization. Jake Burson, and his brother Josh, are the only brothers that have actively served as Texas Rangers at the same time since the early 1900s. Both Jake and Josh are graduates of McGregor High School. McGregor Elementary 5th grade students treated their families and friends to a concert recently. Students were able to show off all they learned in band this year. Band directors Tim Grace, Rebecca Reed, and Greg Vaughan have worked hard to instill a love of band in their young students.

Shoes for Orphan Souls is a program run by Buckner s Children s Home of Dallas. Each year Buckner sends thousands of shoes to orphans around the world. Any church, group, or individual that wants to participate may do so by bringing a new pair of inexpensive athletic shoes or socks to the high school or by dropping a check made out to McGregor High School at any of the four school campuses. FCA will do the rest.
