0SPURS LADIES v MILLWALL LIONESSES LFC The FA Women s Super League 2 Wednesday 28 March, 208 Kick-Off: 7:30pm Official Matchday Programme 2.00

The Visitors MILLWALL LIONESSES Millwall Lionesses are enjoying a fantastic season in the FAWSL2. They remain unbeaten in the division, and only a points deduction for fielding an ineligible player separate them from the league leaders Doncaster Rovers Belles. Their league form has largely been down to being defensively sound, conceding an average of just.3 goals per game. At the other end of the pitch, they have shared the goals around and played scintillating attacking football. The Lionesses struggled to take their league form into the cups, however. They crashed out of the Continental Tyres Cup at the group stage with one win and two draws from five games in a formidable group containing Chelsea Ladies, Arsenal and Reading Women. In the SSE Women s FA Cup they breezed past Coventry United Ladies before being narrowly defeated by a goal to nil by Arsenal in the fifth round. Lee Burch s team will be full of confidence after achieving a full year of unbeaten league form after a - draw with London Bees last month, but are now in the middle of a run of three away games in the space of a week, which will pose a stern test to their unbeaten run. ACADEMY WATCH Rosie Bonass takes an inside look at the third team... Third Team Manager: Gerry McLucas Spurs Ladies third team manager Gerry McLucas has admitted that this season has been one of the toughest challenges of his managerial career as his squad were hit with nine injury casualties all at once. The third team started the campaign brightly winning their first three games, accumulating an impressive 20 goals against Hackney Women, AFC Wimbledon and Colne Valley but injuries to key players took its toll and the squad lost pace at the top as a result. Despite the setbacks, McLucas side are positioned well in third place in the Greater London Women s Football League and are competing in the semi-finals of the County Cup against Colne Valley. The team are like a family and they ve been through some tough times this season but they have a never give up attitude and will battle in every game for each other, McLucas said. I ve been at this club for many years and managed many teams but this season has been tough. It helps when you have coaches like Steve Edwards who has stood shoulder to shoulder with me since he joined the team with great experience earlier this season. We started in good form, scoring lots of goals and picking up some good results and then we picked up injuries which included our goalkeeper who was ruled out early in the season, but the team still dug deep and their determination and commitment towards each other has seen them through games. Now we ve started to get players back and having been the only team to draw with the leaders (Whyteleafe) and to beat QPR, who are second and have only lost once this season, I can say this team is getting back to winning ways and seeing the team as it is now makes me so proud. Up next is a game against 6th place AFC Wimbledon on Sunday 6th April and if Spurs are to cement third spot, they need to make sure they continue their good form, McLucas commented. AFC Wimbledon are a very strong team. We played them at home earlier in the season and had a great win against them but they ve improved since then, so it will not be easy, but to keep that third spot we need to be positive and keep our end of season momentum going.
