Fox & GHJA Recognized Divisions The July & August shows are Local Member GHJA shows, and part of the 6 week-end 2014 H. J. Fox Classics Series. Every person who participates in these shows is responsible for knowledge of & is subject to GHJA & H. J. Fox rules. The following divisions are recognized by H. J. Fox & GHJA. Points won will count toward end of year high score awards. Short Stirrup Hunter 2 : Open to riders ages 12 years & under, on horses or ponies, in their first or second year of showing over fences higher than 18 in any hunter show. NOTE: Participation in once around-twice around or beginner & crossrail classes will not count as part of these two years as long as the jump height does not exceed 18. A rider on a pony may cross-enter only into Schooling Pony (2 only) & age group equitation. A rider on a horse may cross-enter only into Pre-Children s (2 6 only) and age group equitation. Riders may enter non-recognized classes where fence heights do not exceed 2 for ponies and 2 6 for horses. Short Stirrup Equitation: Open to qualified Short Stirrup riders. Fences 2. Schooling Pony: 2 or 2 6. May jump either height at the rider s or trainer s discretion. Open to Junior riders only. All Pony Distances will be measured based on a 12 foot stride. Small Pony Hunter: 2 (ponies not to exceed 12.2 hh) Open to Junior riders 12 years of age or under. 14.1.1.5. Medium Pony Hunter: 2 3 (ponies over 12.2 hh, but not to exceed 13.2 hh) Open to Junior riders 14 years of age or under. 14.1.1.6. Large Pony Hunter: 2 9 (ponies over 13.2 hh, but not to exceed 14.2 hh). Long Stirrup Hunter 2 3 : Open to Amateur & Junior riders, 13 years of age & older, on horses or ponies in their first or second year of showing over fences higher than 18. NOTE: Participation in once around-twice around or beginner & crossrail classes will not count as part of these two years. Adult riders who are re-entering the show ring after an absence cannot have shown over fences higher than 2 6 in the past 5 years. Riders may compete in this division no more than two consecutive years. The two years of long stirrup eligibility are continuous show calendar years that cannot be separated or divided. A rider may cross enter only into Hunter divisions & age group equitation if fence height does not exceed 2 6. Long Stirrup Equitation: Open to qualified Long Stirrup Riders. Fences 2 3. Pre-Children s Hunter: Open to Junior riders on horses or ponies; horse/rider combination may not have competed at 3 3 or higher at any Local or Regular Member horse show in the previous 3 years. Fence height 2 6. Pre-Adult Hunter: Open to Adult Amateur riders on horse or ponies; horse/rider combination may not have competed at 3 3 or higher at any Local or Regular Member horse show in the previous 3 years. Fence height 2 6. Modified Hunter: Open to all horses or ponies ridden by juniors, amateurs or professionals. Fence height 2 9 Open Hunter: 2 6 or 3 (horse or pony). Rider may show in either height group at rider s or trainer s discretion. Adult Amateur Hunter: 3. Open to Adult Amateur riders on horses or ponies. A pony ridden in the Adult Amateur Hunters may not cross enter into any Pony Hunter division or Junior Equitation division or Junior Medal at the same show. Children s Hunter: 3. Open to all horses ridden by a Junior. Equitation 11 and under: 2. No straight lines may be set at less than 60. Equitation 12 to 14: 2 6. No straight lines may be set at less than 60. Equitation 15 to 17: 3 Adult Amateur Equitation: 3 Low Schooling Jumper: (3 & 3 3 ) Children s/adult Jumper: Horses or ponies ridden by Junior or Amateur 3 3 High Schooling Jumper: 3 6 and higher (3 7 & 3 9 ) Hunter over fences classes to include minimum of 8 fences at required height judged on performance and soundness. Under Saddle to be shown at walk, trot & canter. Light contact with horse s mouth required; martingales not permitted in flat classes. Equitation over fences shown over minimum of 6 jumps with at least one change of Direction. No membership or Nomination is required to participate in this show only if yearend points are desired in H. J. Fox, GHJA, or Jockey Club Incentive Program. Other Fox Class Descriptions: Leadline Equitation: For earliest beginner riders to be shown at a walk on leadline. All riders receive Blue Ribbon and special prize! May cross-enter Pre-Beginner Division. Pre-Beginner: For early beginner riders. Coaches/handlers permitted in ring for safety if needed; however excessive coaching may be penalized. May cross enter Leadline & Novice Walk/Trot. Beginner Walk/Trot: For riders in 1 st or 2 nd year of showing (excluding Pre-Beginners). May cross enter Novice Walk/trot, Beginner Medal, Beginner Challenges & Beginner Crossrails. Novice Walk/Trot: Rider not to have won more than 3 Fox blue ribbons (excluding Pre-Beginner). Adult Walk/Trot: Open to adults on horse or pony rider may not cross-enter higher than crossrails. Beginner Crossrail EQ: Riders in 1 st or 2 nd year of showing over fences. Trotting courses encouraged. Simple changes permitted outside 4 jumps only. May cross enter Beginner Walk/Trot & Htr. Crossrails. Crossrail Hunter: For inexperienced riders or horse/ponies. Simple leads not to be penalized. Riders may cross-enter Beginner Crossrails or Pre-Green & Mini Hunter Classes. Pre-Green EQ 18 or 21 Verticals: For inexperienced riders. Simple lead changes not to be penalized. May cross enter Crossrail Hunter or Mini Hunter & Hopeful Hunter. Mini-Hunter 18 Verticals: Open to all riders and/or horses/ponies. Simple lead changes not to be penalized. May also enter Crossrail Hunter or Hopeful Hunter 21 Verticals, & Pre-Green EQ if eligible. Hopeful Hunter 21 Verticals: Open to all riders and/or horses/ponies. Simple lead changes not to be penalized. May also enter Pre-Green EQ & Mini Hunter 18 or 2 classes. Schooling Hunter 2 or 2 6 : Open to all horses & ponies. Baby Green Hunter 2 : Open to all horses & ponies horse may not jump higher in same show than 2, except for rider s equitation. Open Warm-ups: Open to all; may be ridden anytime as needed be sure & let Gate Keeper know! Two Jumper High Points Daily & Year-end: Low Jumper (2 9 & below) & High Jumper (3 & higher) Blue Ribbon Jumper Warm-up: May be ridden at any height (prior to your first class). (Please let gatekeeper know it s a warm-up round when you check in. All clean jumper warm-up rounds receive a "Blue Novice Jumper 2 1 : Open to all horses/riders Hopeful Jumper 2 3 : Open to all horses/riders. Progressive Jumper 2 5 : Open to all horses/riders. Fox Equitation Challenges (Saturday only): Open to all riders on horses or ponies. Main Hunter Ring to show at walk, trot, canter, lengthening of stride at trot, sitting trot, and possible testing at judge s discretion optional counter canter and/or hand gallop in small groups. Beginner Challenge may be asked to walk, trot, demonstrate 2 point position, halt, back and sit trot optional testing by judge. Beginner Challenge open to participants in Walk/Trot Divisions. Fox Hunter Under Saddle Challenges (Sunday only): Open to all riders on horses or ponies. Main Hunter Ring to show at walk, trot, lengthening of trot, canter, halt, and back at judge s discretion may be asked to hand gallop in small groups. Beginner Ring Challenge shows at walk, trot, halt, back, and may be asked to lengthen stride at the trot at judge s discretion.
$500 Hunter Derby Round 1 (Saturday): To be shown over natural hunter course 2 6 or 3, w/2 or more optional fences at 2 9 or 3 3. An in & out, bending line, & minimum 1 unrelated distance may be included. Round 2 (Sunday): Handy Hunter course 2 6 or 3, w/2 or more optional fences at 2 9 or 3 3. Minimum 2 of following: trot jump; lead over jump; tight turn option; optional approaches; halt &/or back; walk a jump. Prize money & ribbons for top combined scores. 10 entries needed to fill. Payback: 1 st - $200 2 nd - $100 3 rd - $80 4 th $50 5 th - $40 6 th - $30; For 5 9 entries, entry fee will be divided in half, and class will become an addback class. Special Ribbons 1-6. $500 Mini-Prix Sunday Table 11.2b; Preliminary Course with Jump-off. To be shown at 2 9, 3 or 3 3 height. 10 entries are needed in order to award $500. Points, Prizes & Cash Awards All classes require a minimum of 3 entries for points to count. Special classes with cash awards must have 10 entries to award full cash prize. If less than 10 but minimum of 5, the respective entry fee will be reduced by half, with class becoming an add-back. A portion of entry fees & added money will be distributed among top winners. If class has minimum of 3 (but less than 5) entry fee will be reduced to that of a normal class, & no cash will be awarded. Normal ribbons and prizes will then apply. Entries in Hunter Derby and/or Mini Prix must enter minimum of one other class besides the Derby or Mini -Prix. Regular Classes: Ribbons 1 6 (Beginner W/T Classes Everyone Receives a Ribbon) Champion & Reserve for all Divisions Daily (Hunters, EQ & Jumpers) Daily Champions choose prize in show office. 1 st Place in Fox Medal Qualifiers receive medal; 2 6 regular ribbons; Champion & Reserve in Challenges receive Neck Sashes; 3 6 regular ribbons. Mini-Prix & Derby receives cash awards, Saddle Pad; Special Ribbons 1-8 $200 Low/High Jumpers Guaranteed Pay-back; Minimum of 3 entries to run. Stabling & Schooling 12 X 12 Matted Stalls will be available Friday at 10:00 a.m.. Ticketed warm-up will be Friday from Noon 6:30 p.m. For exhibitor s safety a certified medic will be on site. Exhibitors may hack (only) on mornings before show. Shavings Horse park regulations state that all horse stalls have a minimum of 2 bags of shavings. You may bring your own, or order shavings from Queen Sales (770) 860-9111. Golf carts may also be rented thru Queen Sales. (To insure availability of golf cart, please call by Friday a.m. at 9:00). Directions to GA International Horse Park: From I-20 take exit #82. At end of ramp go north on Hwy. #138 approximately 4 miles. Turn right onto Centennial Olympic Parkway. Main entrance is 2 miles ahead on right. * Horses and Ponies may enter no more than 7 classes over fences, including equitation & all special classes such as classics. * Riders may be disqualified due to acts of discourtesy toward officials. * Management may restrict the courtesy circle with a mandatory dotted line. * The three-minute rule may be put in effect at any time upon announcement. * Hunter courses shall simulate obstacles found in the hunt field, such as natural rails, gates, walls, etc. * Proper attire is required in all classes except warmup, when chaps or other non-standard attire may be worn. * All courses will be set on a 12 stride. * Helmets must be worn while mounted at all times. All riders must wear ASTM-SEI approved helmets with a properly-adjusted (snug) harness. * Martingales are not permissible in flat classes. * Standing Martingales are permitted in Hunter/EQ over Fences Classes. * Standing or Running Martingales are allowed in Jumper Classes. * All dogs must be on a leash of no more than 6 feet in length, or otherwise contained, at all times while on competition grounds. Dog owners are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from their dogs behaviors. Owners of loose and/or disruptive dogs may be subject to penalties and/or fines. * Unlicensed drivers are not permitted to operate motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds. 10 points for first place; 6 points for second place; 4 points for third place; 2 points for fourth place; 1 point for fifth place;.5 points for sixth place; *In case of a tie for Champion or Reserve Champion, award will go to the rider with the most points over fences. Only top 4 over fences are eligible for Champion and Reserve Champion. Points for year end awards will accumulate from riders date of membership. Ribbons will be given to 1st 6th place, and Champion and Reserve Champion will receive a ribbon and an award. - FOX & GHJA POINTS ACCUMULATE FROM DATE OF MEMBERSHIP GHJA Medal Classes J. D. Pounds Junior Medal & GHJA Adult Medal: To be shown over modified jumper-type course with minimum of 8 fences. Must include at least one oxer & one change of direction. Fences 3. Minimum of 3 entries must complete both phases. Minimum of 6 riders (if available) required to show at walk, trot & canter Flat phase counts 25%. Riders must be current GHJA members. GHJA Pony Medal: To be shown over modified jumper-type course of at least 8 fences. Must include at least one oxer & one change of direction. Height of fences: 2 smalls; 2 3 mediums; 2 9 large. Small ponies ridden by juniors 12 & under; Mediums by Juniors 14 & under. The GHJA Pony Medal will run concurrently with Pony Hunter division, with flat phase following pony hunter under saddle. The flat should have 6 riders (if available), and will counts 25%. Minimum of 3 entries must complete both phases. Riders must be current GHJA members. H. J. Fox Single Round Classics Embroidered Fox Saddle Pads will be awarded to the winners of 6 single round (stand alone) classics in each ring. The classics are Open (like the Warm-up), and may be ridden as fence heights allow. The Jumper Classic will be on Saturday all Hunter & Equitation Classics will be on Sunday. Special Classic Ribbons (1-6) are awarded for all of the Fox Classics. Hunter over fences classes to include minimum of eight fences at required height judged on performance and soundness.
