September Crime Report 2017 PURPOSE: The purpose of this report is to provide an analysis of Coeur d Alene crime for the month of September 2017. Information provided: Compstat Report for calendar month and year to date. Compstat Monthly Map for calendar month. Month-to-Month Comparison Maps Part 1 Crimes (Compstat Crimes) by calendar month. Crime by District & Locations of Field Interviews for calendar month. Calls for Service (Priority 1 & 2) Hot Spot Map by calendar month / Districts 81 85 Month-to-Month Comparison Maps Pedestrian Bike Checks and Field Interviews. Hot Spot Map of Officer Initiated Activity (Traffic Stops & Pedestrian/Bike Checks). DATA SOURCE: The information used for this analysis was Summit / Spillman data compiled using CrimeView Mapping / Analysis and Crystal Report / Excel Statistical Charts.

Aggravated Assaults 60% Decrease: Incident breakdown - Four domestics, one road rage incident and one incident where the offender was a stranger. Dispositions: All six closed by arrest. Auto Burglaries by Rape 25% Decrease: Two active cases and one closed by arrest. District Robbery Commercial: Armed suspect robbed a convenience store. The suspect was identified and arrested. 1 3 2 Arson Increase: Three fires set in alleys near East Sherman Avenue. The suspect was caught in the act and arrested. 7 6 Auto Burglary 27% Decrease: The majority of the incidents reported were in district 83 & 84 (North of Appleway Avenue). Three male suspects were identified and arrested for at least three of the reported incidents. 81 82 83 84 85 Non-Residential Burglary No Change: Two of the three incidents are related to credit card fraud at retail stores. Residential Burglary 33% Decrease: Incident breakdown Six active, three inactive and one closed by arrest. No distinct pattern (MO, location, suspect). Theft 15% Decrease: Incident breakdown 17 incidents closed by arrest, 30 active and 17 inactive. Vehicle Theft No Change: Incident breakdown Three vehicles and one motorcycle were reported stolen. All four have been recovered and one arrest was made.

Coeur d'alene Police: Warrant Arrests Jan - Sept Jan - Sept % Chg 2017 2016 Warrant Arrests 582 556 5% Coeur d'alene Police: Calls for Service Jan - Sept Jan - Sept % Chg 2017 2016 Calls 43570 32956 32% A procedural change began in February 2017. Traffic stops and pedestrian checks are now included in the Calls for Service statistics. Removing these two types of calls would show a 8% increase in calls, as opposed to a 32% increase.
