He came to the United States in 1978 to play for the California Sunshine of the American Soccer League (ASL) before moving on to play for the Detroit Express. Andy Chapman Club Owner Andy played indoor for Wichita, Baltimore, and Cleveland in the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) for 12 seasons. In 1990, he became player-coach of the Detroit Rockers of the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) for four seasons, and later with the Detroit Neon/Safari for three seasons. Andy finished his career with 307 MISL goals, a tally which ranks 8th all time. In 2000 he came out of retirement to play for the Detroit Rockers, Making him one of only two players to play in four different decades. (You can also see Andy s jersey on display in the Soccer Hall of Fame, in New York State) Andy has coached youth soccer since 1978. His coaching philosophy has always remained the same: Build players, not teams; if you build the player, the teams will build themselves. U.S.S.F. After a few seasons, he signed on to the Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) and played indoor for the next ten years. This period included stints with the Detroit Rockers, Detroit Neon, and the Detroit Safari. While playing for the Detroit Safari he was asked to become Interim Head for the remainder of the season after suffering an injury in the 1997-98 season. Although he played many years as a professional soccer player, Ian enjoys coaching youth soccer just as much as he enjoyed playing professionally. Ian currently has a USSF A coaching license and is a current member of the PFA (Professional Footballers Association) in England.
