Meet the Head Coach Head Coach Greg Gammell Greg Gammell enters his ninth season as Rhode Island College's head men s golf coach. He is 28-10 in eight seasons guiding RIC on the links, which includes three titles and three second place finishes at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championships, to go along with three appearances at the NCAA Div. III Championships. The Anchormen continued to dominate the Great Northeast Athletic Conference as RIC claimed its third consecutive tournament championship in 2013. Gammell was also recognized as the league's Coach of the Year for the third straight campaign. Gammell helped the Anchormen finish 28th (41 institutions) at the 2014 NCAA Championships, the best finish in program history on the national stage. RIC earned a 16th place (38 teams) finish at the 2013 New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championships, and also notched first place finishes at the Trailblazer Invitational (Sept. 19), the RIC Invitational (April 4-5) and the Rich Korzec Memorial Invitational (April 15) during the course of the season. After leading the Anchormen to the program's first-ever Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Alliance Championship in 2011, which included a subsequent berth in the 2012 NCAA Men's Golf Championships, Gammell guided Rhode Island College to its second consecutive GNAC Alliance Championship in 2012 to go along with a trip to the 2013 NCAA Men's Golf Championships. Gammell was named the GNAC Men's Golf Coach of the Year in both 2011 and 2012 for his efforts. Under the tutelage of Gammell in 2012-13, the Anchormen placed sixth overall (35 teams) at the 78th Annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championships, played at The Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Mass. on October 28. During the 2012-2013 campaign, RIC also notched first place finishes at the MCLA Invitational (Sept. 20), the Johnson & Wales Invitational (Oct. 12-13), the Wildcat Invitational (April 20-21), and the Blazers Invitational (April 24). During the 2011-2012 season, the Anchormen placed 14th (35 teams) at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championships, notched first place finishes at the Nichols Quad (Sept. 20), the RIC Fall Invitational (Oct. 21) and the Johnson & Wales Fall Invitational (Oct. 22-23), and finished second at the RIC Spring Invitational (March 30) and the Johnson & Wales Spring Invitational (April 21-22). In 2010-11, RIC posted six top-three finishes under his leadership. The Anchormen placed third at the Alliance Championships with a score of 674. The Anchormen placed 26th (37 teams) with a score of 659 (334, 325) at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championships on Oct. 18-19. Rhode Island College earned second place finishes at the RIC Fall Invitational (Oct. 8), the Mitchell Quad (Oct. 13) and the Elms Invitational (April 21). In 2009-10, RIC placed second (seven teams) with a score of 648 at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference/Little East Conference Alliance Championship on Oct. 24-25. The Anchormen placed 19th (39 teams) with a score of 640 at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championships on Oct. 19-20. Rhode Island College earned first place finishes at Johnson & Wales (Oct. 2), the RIC Fall Invitational (Oct. 9), and at the RIC Spring Invitational (April 23). He led the Anchormen to a 3-0 record in 2008-09, which included a second place finish at the Little East Conference/GNAC Alliance Tournament. The Anchormen posted an 8-5 overall record in 2007-08, including a fifth place finish at the Alliance Tournament. Under his tutelage, Derek Jensen was the Alliance Champion, the first RIC golfer ever to accomplish this feat, placing first among a field of 39 competitors. He led the Anchormen to the greatest season in program history in 2006-07 as the club recorded a 14-3 overall record and a second place finish at the inaugural Little East Conference/Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament. Gammell, a Coventry, Rhode Island native, is an outstanding golfer who is a six-time champion and four-time runner-up at the Coventry Pines Golf Club. He was the runner-up at the 1981 Pawtuxet Valley Open. He was the Fenner Hill Golf Course Club Championship runner-up in 2013 and 2000. In addition to his coaching duties, Gammell is the Associate Director of Facilities and Operations at Rhode Island College. He earned a bachelor s degree in agriculture and resource technology from the University of Rhode Island in 1983. He played three seasons of golf for the Rams, placing fourth at the 1983 New England Intercollegiate Championships. Gammell earned Honorable Mention All-New England honors as a senior in 1983. 3

Meet the Assistant Coach Assistant Coach Gene St. Pierre Gene St. Pierre enters his seventh season as the assistant men s and women's golf coach. He assists Head Coach Greg Gammell with all facets of the RIC men s golf program including administering practices and recruiting. St. Pierre, who also serves as the college s photographer and videographer, also uses video and photographic equipment to help analyze the student-athlete s swings in order for them to improve as golfers. Coach St. Pierre recording high speed HD video of players' swings at practice. Over the past few years I ve spent a lot of time mentoring and training high school students and RIC students in photography, St. Pierre said. I look forward to expanding that experience to include working closely with the student-athletes and helping them reach their full potential as intercollegiate golfers. He is an avid and skilled golfer with extensive youth sports coaching. St. Pierre earned a bachelor s degree from Rhode Island College in 1977. He resides in Cranston, Rhode Island with his wife Susanne 77. III Men's Golf Championships on May 13-14..averaged a score of 79.5 through 14 competitions and fired his season-best score of 73 during the first round of the 2014 Wildcat Spring Invitational on April 18. Sophomore Year (2012-13): Earned All- GNAC honors for a second consecutive season after winning GNAC Rookie of the Year honors the season before.
