Competitions IOF World Cup Event 12 middle distance (October 5th) Format Middle distance, individual start, winning times 35 men and women. Map Orienteering map (ISOM 2000), 9/2013, scale 1:10'000, 5 m contours. Terrain Tüüfelschäller: orienteering terrain between 400 and 550 m above sea level. Hillside with some detailed rock areas (see old map). Finishing at the edge of the town of Baden, short urban area near the finish. Comparable terrain: Rüsler Nord (training map). Forms Hillside with some detailed rock areas. Vegetation Mostly open deciduous forest, mixed forest with deciduous and coniferous trees. Runability Most parts fairly good. Visibility Very good to moderate. Roads Some forest roads and hiking trails. Pre start Start Finish Model map in prestart area. IOF World Cup event 13 World Cup Final, sprint distance (October 6) Format City sprint, individual start, winning times 13 men and women. Map Orienteering map (ISSOM 2007), 9/2013, scale 1:4 000, 2 m contours. Terrain Hilly urban terrain with a mix of old town and parks (see old map). Forms Slope down to the river, rocky hill with castle ruin. Traffic Central Pedestrian area, in other parts there will only be local residents on the competition day, some cyclists and of course many spectators. Prestart Model map in prestart area. Start/Finish In walking distance from Event Center. 7. Embargoed Areas The competition areas Tüüfelschäller (Middle Distance) and City Baden (City Sprint) are embargoed areas (see map 2). For competitors, team officials and others who, through knowledge of the terrain, may influence the results of the competitions, it is prohibited to enter the embargoed areas. These embargoes are valid until the day prior to the competition. On the day of the competition there will be special rules covering the access of the competition area (to be published in Bulletin 4). 5. Courses (preliminary) IOF World Cup event 12 middle distance (October 5) Men 6 km, 200 m, 1, winning time 35 Women 5 km, 180 m, 1, winning time 35 Course setter: Lukas Erne IOF World Cup event 13 World Cup Final (October 6) Men 3.0 km, 70 m, winning time 13 Women 2.5 km, 60 m, winning time 13 Course setter: Denis Steinemann 6. Training Middle distance: Rüsler Nord, orienteering map 2013, 1:10 000, 5 m contours, 5 km from Event Centre. Sprint distance: Bremgarten, orienteering map 2011, 1:4 000, 2.5 m contours, 20 km from Event Centre. No controls. Maps will be given to all entered runners and coaches at the Event Centre. Special Sprint-Relay Training: We will offer you the possibility on Friday afternoon to have a Sprint-Relay trainingevent (new WOC-format with two men and two women). More information will be available on our website www.o-worldcup.ch in spring 2013. Map 2: Embargoed areas Tüüfelschäller and City Baden Special rule for the embargoed area City Baden: - It is allowed to stay as a student, for business purposes or as a tourist, e.g. for sight-seeing, visiting a restaurant, shopping, participating in an indoor sport event. - It is prohibited to stay there with a map, to run, to jog, to orienteer through the embargoed area or to test route choices. - It is prohibited to take part in a running event through the embargoed area. - This embargo is valid until the day before the competition. On the day of the competition there will be special rules covering the access to the competition area (see Bulletin 4). 8. Competition Rules The Competition Rules for IOF Foot Orienteering Events 2013, valid from 1 January 2013 apply. Participation restrictions, classes and qualification system will follow the Special Rules for the 2013 World Cup in Orienteering.

9. Punching System The punching system used is SPORTident. Athletes may use their own SI-Cards. 10. Entry Initial entry date: The following information shall be sent to the organiser: - Number of competitors (men and women) - Number of team officials (men and women) - Number of teams for the Sprint-Relay training - Number of banquet tickets - Team manager: Name, address, phone, fax, e-mail Please use online entry system on the website (available from March 2013). Initial Entry Deadline: August 30 th, 2013 Nominal entry date: The nominal entry has then to be done no later than September 23, 2013 by sending the following information: - All competitors and team officials: family name, first name, nation, sex, year of birth, IOF ranking ID, SI-Card no. - IOF officials: family name, first name, address, IOF function. Note, that nominal entries can only be accepted if an initial entry was sent by the national federation by 30 th August! Please use the official entry system on the website (available from March 2013). Nominal Entry Deadline: September 23 rd, 2013 Entry fees Competitors CHF 120. Team officials CHF 60. 11. Accommodation We have pre-booked all rooms in the Youth Hostel in Baden which is also the Event Centre. Please let us know as soon as possible if you wish to stay in the Youth hostel and your room preferences (2-6 beds per room). There is limited local hotel accommodation. Prize Money Prize money will be awarded by the event organiser to the best men and women in both competitions. This includes: - Training maps, new competition maps. - For competitors: Participation in IOF World Cup event 12 and IOF World Cup event 13 (if qualified) or entry in public race (National competition, long distance, elite class). Banquet CHF 35. Free of charge offer We will offer a special invitation and a free of charge entry to the individual Orienteering World Champions 2013 and to the 3 highest ranked male and female athletes in the IOF World Cup 2013 (after WOC 2013). Athletes will be contacted after WOC 2013. Payment Entry fees and banquet tickets must be paid by September 23 rd, 2013. Please note that all bank charges must be paid by the applicant. Clothing According to the Swiss Orienteering Competition Rule (WO Art. 54(2)(c)) it is forbidden to run with spike shoes in Switzerland. However dobb spikes and normal orienteering shoes are allowed. Otherwise, there are no regulations on clothing, but it is recommended to cover arms and legs to avoid tick bites. Ticks might transmit Boreliosis and Meningo- Encephalitis.

14. Anti Doping Doping is forbidden. Think positive test negative! IOF Anti-Doping Rules apply, valid as of February 1, 2010. The Swiss Orienteering Anti-Doping Rules are harmonised with the Anti-Doping Rules and procedures of the Swiss Olympic Association and apply as well. Both, the IOF and/or the Swiss Olympic Association can order doping tests at any time during the stay of the participants of World Cup Final 2013 in Switzerland. By their signature given at the event registration upon arrival, the athletes and coaches will accept that they are subject to sanctions in the event of any doping offence. Coaches will have to sign for the whole team. 15. Weather&Climate 17. Insurance The organisers decline any liability that might occur through participation in IOF World Cup Events 12 and 13. Each person participates at their own risk and is responsible for their own insurance coverage (illness and accident). 18. Media Services We welcome all media representatives as our partners to broadcast the thrilling events of World Cup Final 2013 to a broad public. Visa Permits The prerequisite for immigration into Switzerland is a valid passport. For travellers from certain countries a visa or further documents are required.
