CCC Welcomes New April Members Charles MacDonald ~ Associate Frank Parks ~ Associate A Word From The Board Of Directors Dear Members, One of your board s top duties is ensuring the financial well-being of our club. In fact, it might be the single most important job we have. We re tasked with both making sure we can pay the bills now and planning ahead for the long-term health of our club. To meet that mission, the board has voted unanimously to increase dues $10 per month for all adult membership categories (youth category excepted). This change should generate about $44,000 a year in much-needed revenue. You may not realize our dues haven t increased since 2009. Meanwhile, every expense we face has increased in the past nine years. Our membership while healthy hasn t grown fast enough to make up for this shortfall. No one likes a dues increase, but I hope you ll join your board in supporting this necessary step. As my term on the board draws to a close, I want to thank a number of folks for their support of me and most importantly the club during my time on the board. Thank you first to my wife, Jeanne, who has acted as my editor and proofreader for these messages, as well as just listening sometimes. Any mistakes are completely mine. I also want to thank our members for their support of OUR club. We haven t always agreed on everything, but I know our members care because they frequently contact me to discuss issues of concern. Apathy is a killer at any club, but we re alive and well because our members care. Our staff and management deserve our thanks. I ve enjoyed working with them, and I ve learned much from them especially how much they care. The job they do behind the scenes is often unappreciated, but I appreciate them more than they know and I thank them for putting up with me these past three years. Finally, a thank you to the board members I ve served with. I heard a long time ago that once you see how the sausage is made, you may not enjoy breakfast. However, after having seen how the sausage is made at our club, I appreciate and thank the dedicated members who serve on the board and the club s committees. I hope to see all our stockholders at the May 16 annual meeting. And I look forward to seeing all of you in the months ahead, enjoying what I truly believe is the best club in our area. Barry Reynolds CCC President

A Word From Our Golf Course Superintendent The golfing season is well under way here at CCC. Despite the prolonged cool weather, the course has begun to green-up and favorable temperatures are forecasted for the coming weeks. The grading and sodding projects on 2, 25 and 27 have been delayed due to rain and scheduling conflicts but they are nearing completion. With a little cooperation from the weather, the sod will be completed within a week. Over the next month, our focus will be on growing-in damaged areas of turf, spraying weeds, as well as having a contractor grind stumps around the course. I would like to remind everyone to be conscious of their traffic patterns with golf carts and push carts while on the course. Cart entrances and exits, as well as, areas between the greens and bunkers receive enormous amounts of wear during the spring and summer months. This increased traffic makes the areas slower to grow-in and adversely effects playing conditions as well as being costly to repair. Altering traffic patterns, will aid in the turf s quick recovery and improve everyone s playing conditions. Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to seeing everyone on the course.
