Chair -This was started 20 years ago to get dads more involved and stands for Dads Of Great Students -They ask dads to go to the school one day a year for the whole day. This is often the kids favorite day. The dads get to help with car lines, help with recess, help in classrooms, eat lunch with the kids. -September 22 will be a kickoff for this. There will be pizza for dads and kids and a chance to get more information and dads can sign up. -It is for any male figure-dads, grandpas, uncles, etc -the next events are the Monster Mash Bash and the Boosterthon. The MMB will be on Saturday this year from 3-6. The fun run is November 6 th and the kickoff is October 27 th. The structure is different this year, we will keep more of the funds and they will not be at the school as much-likely two times. Marnee Friedman, Monster Mash Bash Co-Chair -MMB is a Halloween party. We do not do classroom parties so it is our Halloween party and all of the family is invited. People wear costumes. We are hoping to do it outside when it is still light out so people can rotate in and out. There will still be a cakewalk, dj, magician, they will just be adding a few more things. They could use
some volunteers right now, see Marnee and Abbie after the meeting if you are interested. They expect at least 1000 people to attend. -Big thank you to Marnee and Abbie. This is the biggest thing the school does. It is the third time they are doing it. Karen Hynes, Vice President -You should have been notified if you are a room parent. Emily Brosnahan and I will have a meeting about this soon to let you know what to expect. Emily Brosnahan, Vice President -We put out forms on curriculum night where parents could put down their emails so they could be included on classroom correspondence. -The Welcome Back Breakfast is 9/11. It is just for teachers. Sandy Kelne is organizing it. She sent out a form so you could sign up to donate food. She still needs volunteers at 7:30 on 9/11 to help set up. Angela Soderquist, Market Day Rep -Joann Frisby is also a co-chair -The first pickup is September 17 from 5-6 in the gym. -The food may be a little more expensive than other places but it is a fundraiser for the school. We would like to put the money toward more LMC furniture. The goal this year is $3,000, last year we did $1,200. -Most of the money last year came from pie sales. In November they sell pies and we get a bonus from them. We made $500.00 in one month. Some people bought pies for charity. There was a competition between the grades to buy the most and the winning class got a pizza party with Mrs. Russell. Emily Brosnahan, Spiritwear -Spiritwear has new designs and you can always purchase them online. -Second Friday of the month is spiritday. -We have different competitions through the year. Last year we did Moustache Day and competition between the floors to win extra recess. -All kids will get a shirt from the Boosterthon and can wear that also. -Shirts will be delivered to the child s classroom. Casey Lane, Box Tops and Recycling -We get ten cents a box top. Last year we made $1,200. Sometimes we have contests where the winning class gets popsicles or water bottles.
-We collect ink jet cartridges and get $2.00 for commercial toners. There is a collection box in the lobby. -We collect any labels for education. Debbie Daniels, Dinner Nights -The first night is at Yogurt Beach on September 10 th. You do not need a flyer and we keep 30% of sales. The first half of dates on the sheet is correct but the second half has changed. Dates will also be on the website. Hiral Patel, Directory -If you know a business that wants to be a sponsor, that is great. There are sponsorships for $50-$200. -If you are working on committees, there is a tax exempt form. If purchasing for PTA get the sheet with receipt to Shannon Godsil for reimbursement. -With the budget, the first two pages are the proposed budget and the last page is last years budget. The first page reflects the income and the second page are the expenses. Look at both numbers, we don t plan to make money on a lot of these things, they are more of a service to the school. We just collect money to help pay for the event. Look at the net, we often hope to break even. Try not to go over the budget. -We get money from the Fun Run and Memberships. -June 30 th was the end of the year so we have had two months of activity. Shannon Godsil, Treasurer -Not a lot of July and August activity. We have had about $700.00 in membership income. -We also have Fun Run sponsorships for the t-shirts. Between $200-$500. We will probably make about $500.00 from this. -Now we will do a verbal vote. -Jen Tedrow made the motion to approve the budget. Rachael Kuntz second the motion. -All in favor say Aye -all All opposed say Nay -none. -Budget is approved as is. -Any further business? Colleen Keen-is there a list of panther paw members? Jen Tedrow-yes, check with Shannon Godsil, she has the list. -If you are not a PTA member, sign up. If you are running or helping an event you need to be a member to be covered under our insurance. You also get a directory. The regular membership is $15.00, Golden Paw is more. Meeting adjourned at 10:42 am.
