Lake Louise Pond Hockey Classic February 21-25, 2018 WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY Lake Louise Pond Hockey Classic I acknowledge that I have agreed to participate in the Lake Louise Pond Hockey Classic taking place in Lake Louise, AB, on February 21-25, 2018 (The Event ) and as a condition to my participation in the Event, I agree with the following: 1. I acknowledge, understand and agree that my participation in the Event, as a hockey playing participant, is completely voluntary. I acknowledge that there may be potential for risk of injury from my travel to, travel from, and participation in the Event, and I hereby knowingly and freely assume all such risks, both known and unknown, and assume full responsibility for any and all injuries (including death) or loss arising from my participation in the Event. 2. For the purposes of this agreement, Released Parties expressly includes Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, affiliates, parents, subsidiaries, agencies, successors, assigns, and those acting with authority or permission from any of them, collectively the Released Parties. 3. I, ON BEHALF OF MYSELF AND MY SUCCESSORS, HEIRS AND ASSIGNS, AGREE TO FOREVER WAIVE, RELEASE, DISCHARGE AND HOLD HARMLESS THE RELEASED PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL LIABILITY OR DAMAGES RELATING TO THE USE OF MY LIKENESS, INJURIES (INCLUDING DEATH) OR LOSS (INCLUDING DAMAGE TO PROPERTY) SUFFERED BY ME ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO ME TRAVEL TO, TRAVEL FROM AND PARTICIPATION IN THE EVENT OR ANY ACTIVITIES RELATED THERETO, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER SUCH CLAIMS RESULT FROM NEGLIGENCE OF ANY OF THE RELEASED PARTIES. 4. If any provision of the Authorization, Waiver and Release is deemed to be invalid or unenforceable to any extent, the remainder of this Authorization, Waiver and Release shall not be affected, and each remaining provision of this Authorization, Waiver and Release shall be valid and enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by law. 5. This Authorization, Waiver and Release shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Alberta. Any suit or action arising shall be filed in a court of competent jurisdiction within the Province of Alberta. I hereby consent to the personal jurisdiction of said court within the Province of Alberta, and waive all defenses of lack of personal jurisdiction and forum non conveniens. 6. I hereby warrant and certify that I am at least 18 years of age and have the right to contract my own name. 7. Lake Louise Classic Pond Hockey Classic OFFICIAL RULES 2018 as of May 15, 2017 (subject to change) All players will receive a copy of the Rules & Regulations in their Captains packages. It is the responsibility of Captains to ensure that each player on their team READS and UNDERSTANDS the Rules. ALL players must present a signed Agreement of these Rules & Regulations prior to playing in the Lake Louise Pond Hockey Classic. We are looking for the teams to self monitor their games and to assist the Pond Volunteer Officials with ensuring good play and excellent sportsmanship. REMEMBER that this is Pond Hockey. Play in the true spirit of the game. Please honour the traditions of sportsmanship and the spirit of fair play. RULES 1. All games are 30 minutes long consisting of two 15 minute halves with a two minute break between halves. Teams will switch ends at the start of the 2 nd half. Games start at the sound of the whistle. Any teams late for games will be penalized 1 goal for each minute late. After 5 minutes the late team will forfeit the game with a 10-0 score awarded to the opponent. NOTE Games will not be re-scheduled. The tournament will run in all weather, please dress appropriately. Weather cancellations to be determined by hotel staff only. 2. All goals must be scored from at least the attacking side of center ice. 3. Total points determine standings. In the case of a TIE the following will be considered in the order listed until a winner is declared: a) Total points after opening round 4 games Win = 3 points Tie = 1 point Loss = 0 point b) Goal differential (goals scored minus goals against) MAXIMUM of 10 goals per game c) Least goals against d) Total goals scored e) ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS best of 5 Team Captains are responsible for checking score sheet and signing off on it. A signed score sheet cannot be contested. Winning teams have 30 minutes from the end of the game to report the score to the Stats Zone. Otherwise, the game will be treated as a tie for both teams. 4. Semi-final and championship tied games will be decided by a sudden death period. 5. Players are required to be registered and follow their equipment recommendations, helmets, sticks, skates will be required. Goalie sticks are NOT permitted. No hockey equipment above the waist, including elbow pads, shoulder pads, etc. 6. All players must be 18 years of age by the first day of the tournament. Proof of age may be required.
7. All teams must have matching jerseys or shirts (sweatshirts are acceptable). NOTE, if you wear an NHL team jersey, you won t be featured in any promotional videos. 8. Minimum number of players to enter and play in the tournament is 4. Maximum of 6 players. Each team must have 4 players on the ice at all times. Substitutions are only allowed when a goal is scored against. The substitute player must enter the play behind one's net. 9. One Volunteer Time Official will be used to time keep for all games, these are not trained referees and all teams will be required to self monitor in the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play for all infractions/penalties based on the following: a) ALL penalties result in a change of possession. b) Any minor penalties such as tripping or slashing will result in a goal for the nonoffending team plus puck possession. c) Any major penalties will result in ejection from the tournament with no replacement and no refund. d) Volunteer Officials can also make calls on minor and major penalties. 10. Decisions made by any tournament officials are binding and will be made in keeping with the spirit of the game. 11. Fighting or intent to injure another player, official or volunteer is strictly prohibited. Any player that fights will be ejected from the tournament with no replacement, no refund and will not be permitted to play in future years. 12. Abuse of officials or other players will be considered a major penalty. This includes yelling, swearing or arguing with hotel staff. 13. There is NO checking, body contact or tripping. 14. There are no slapshots or stick raising. If the stick comes above the knee in a slapshot motion it will be deemed a slapshot and a minor penalty. 15. Saucer passes are allowed within reason. Common sense will prevail. 16. There will be no goalies. A player may not lay his/her stick across the goal mouth to protect the goal area. Such action will result in a minor penalty. Players cannot fall or lay on the ice in an effort to protect the goal area. Such action will result in a minor penalty. Players skates must not come within 3 feet of the goal. 17. There will be no off-sides or icing. 18. If the puck goes out of play, possession goes to the non-offending team at the point the puck went out. The defending team must provide two stick lengths to their opponent upon re-entry and play must start immediately. Visible or partially buried pucks are live, if they can be reached by a player whose skates (both) are still within the rink borders. Allow room to play the puck.
19. There will be a center ice face-off to start the game and start the second half. Otherwise, teams will be required to wait on their half for goals scored and minor penalties. Defensive teams can engage the office teams once the play starts moving up ice. The offensive team must move the puck up ice quickly. 20. No pets are allowed on the ice. 21. Drinking is NOT permitted on the lake. Any player visibly intoxicated will not be permitted to play at the discretion of the Volunteer Official. Players abusing this rule will be ejected from the tournament. 22. Refunds and Cancellations: Registration fees will not be refunded unless the following conditions apply: The entire tournament is canceled due to an act of God. All registration fees would be returned in this circumstance. I hereby release, discharge and agree to save harmless Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, their representatives, assigns, employees or any person or persons, corporation or corporations, acting under their permission or authority, or any person, persons, corporation or corporations, for whom they might be acting, including any firm publishing and/or distributing the finished product, in whole or in part, from and against any liability as a result or any distortion, blurring or alteration, optical illusion, or use in composite form either intentionally or otherwise, that may occur or be produced in the taking, processing or reproduction of the finished product, its publication or distribution of the same, even should the same subject me to ridicule, scandal, reproach, scorn or indignity. I hereby warrant that I am over twenty one years of age, and competent to contract in my own name in so far as the above is concerned.
