The purpse is t recgnize players wh demnstrate utstanding sprtsmanship, hustle, enthusiasm and cmmitment. Actual baseball skills are nt a criteria. The trphy was created by Mr. Jim Sht and has been awarded annually since 1971. Mr. Sht cached fr many years and persnally presented the trphy until his passing in 1998.
