ADVANCE PROGRAMME THE VOOMQUEST V2 MALTA RIVIERA POWERBOAT GRAND PRIX MARCH 22, 23, 24 & 25 2018 LOCATION: COMINO CHANNEL, MALTA The event organiser, under the authority of the Malta Powerboat Federation ( MPF ) and under the authority of the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM), will organise at the Malta Riviera, Malta the VOOMQUEST V2 POWERBOAT GRAND PRIX on the above dates. The event is to be run according to UIM rules and regulations for Offshore Racing as issued by the UIM Offshore Committee and approved by the UIM. The Races, including time limits and shortened/stopped races will be dealt with as per UIM Offshore Rules. Please note that V2 is a single make controlled Class and that participation requires the VOOMQUEST V2 MALTA RIVIERA POWERBOAT GRAND PRIX 2018 PAGE3 of 9
ownership of an SVR27 Race Boat. All SVR27 Race Boats are identically manufactured, including the Mercury 300 Performance engines. The engines are sealed at the Chaudron Factory to prevent interference or modification and a Certificate of Manufacturing Standards is provided to each new owner of a SVR27 Race Boat. For any further information please contact VQ@voomquest.com. 05 Restriction on Pilot Age 06 Prizes The minimum age limit for participation in the VOOMQUEST V2 Malta PowerboatChampionship is eighteen (18) years old on the day before the event begins. VOOMQUEST will provide medals for the Podium 1 st, 2 nd & 3 rd placed in each of the 3 Races (total of 9 medals). Grand Prix Trophies will be awarded at the final event Podium for the top 3 points scorers of the overall Grand Prix. 07 Insurance& Competitors Waiver 07.1 In order to participate all competitors and team members shall agree to waive any and all liability claims against the entire UIM and against the entire Event Organisation and their staff, sponsors, partners, agents, personnel and those of the host venue and hotel. For the avoidance of any doubt this means a waiver of any rights to claims against any parties, individually or corporately. 07.2 All competitors and team members shall be insured and their boats insured against any claims for damage to other persons and boats (Third Parties) to a level that is appropriate to their individual personal circumstances and responsibilities. 07.3 For all crew mandatory insurance coverage must be purchased through the Event Organiser at a cost of 350 per boat, to be paid in cash to the Race Secretary during Race Registration. This insurance covers civil liability against third parties during all official testing and race times as per the official programme. For the avoidance of any doubt the insurance will not cover any on water or on land activities outside official event time. 08 Racing Licence & Medical Certificate Each Pilot will be required to produce at Race Registration a copy of their National Authority Racing Licence, their Powerboat Licence, and their Radio Operator s Licence, together with a Medical Certificate from their Doctor dated not more than 6 months before the Race date and the official document that they successfully passes the Turtle test because we race with cockpit boats. 09 Control Fuel VOOMQUEST has secured an exclusive Fuel Partner to the event and the company will provide the same supply of 98 Octane Unleaded Fuel to all V2 participants for purchase on the event at the market rate. To ensure the elimination of any possibility of fuel spillage into the sea, the Race Boat refuelling will take place on land, in a special section of the Dry Pits. 10 Support Activities 10.1 VOOMQUEST V2 Boat Parade - on Thursday 22 nd all the competing Teams are invited to tour with their boats from the South of Malta to the venue location on the North coast of the main Island. The Parade will make several brief stops en-route to meet the public and give them the opportunity to see the boats ahead of the race weekend beginning. For Teams planning merchandise or giveaways the Parade will be a chance to engage and garner fans for the Season. 10.2 VOOMQUEST V2Welcome Reception the Organisation secured a free of charge welcome reception with the Official Hotel of the event, the Labranda Resort & Spa for the Teams on Thursday (arrival) evening. 10.3 VOOMQUEST V2 Finale Dinner on Sunday evening there will be a subsidised buffet dinner that will be ticketed, with tickets available to purchase from the Race Administration during its office opening hours. 10.4 Other VOOMQUEST V2 events may be advised by the Organisation on a date closer to or at the Race Event. 11 Local Rules Full Race Instructions will be provided to the Teams in the week of the Event. 12 Location of VOOMQUEST V2 Race Site 11.1 Please refer to Sections below for an overview site plan and the location address. 11.2 The Race Instructions will contain more detailed site plans including for dry pits, wet pits, crane area and the Briefing Room. 13 Event & Race Officials Please refer to Section 21. 14 Official Hotel Information The Official Hotel of the VOOMQUEST V2 MALTA RIVIERA POWERBOAT GRAND PRIX is: LABRANDA Riviera Premium Resort & Spa Marfa Bay Mellieha Malta Tel: (+356) 21525900 http://www.riviera.com.mt/ An allocation of two rooms per Team at a preferential rate (guaranteed better than booking.com) has been agreed with the Hotel. 15 The Race Course Design 15.1 VOOMQUEST V2 Class racing will deliver at this and each of its venues a single racecourse design to suit the water area available and all the requirements for the activities of the race weekend. The course will reflect the land-based Formula 1 approach to Grand Prix racecourse design, namely a single overall known quantity of exciting straights, chicanes, turns and penalty lane, that will remain the same throughout the event weekend. 15.2 The intention is to provide challenging courses that require a cerebral approach to mastering from the Pilot Drivers and Pilot Navigators/Tacticians. 15.3 The further intention is to provide spectators and fans with a known course quantity that is easy to follow through the racing activities. 15.4 The racecourse for the VOOMQUEST V2 Malta Riviera Powerboat Grand Prix will also introduce exciting design elements including a double chicane and a Penalty Lane. The course will be run in an anti-clockwise direction throughout the weekend for: Testing Sessions (5) Pole Positions (3) Full GP Races (3) 15.5 The racecourse design as shown in the diagrams at Section 17 will consist of: Muster Area (Coordinates/Start Boat) Start Chute (Start Boat & Flags) Finish Line (Green) 5 Port-side Marks (Large Red) 3 Starboard-side Marks (Large Yellow) Penalty Lane (Small Yellow) 16 Pole Position 15.6 Pole Position will be run in anti-clockwise direction. At 30 minutes before the end of the appropriate Testing Session all boats shall meet at the Wet Pits. The Teams will follow the Start Boat via the Penalty Lane and then to start position in Pole Position muster area.
