General Policy The Rules and Regulations of the Scarsdale Pool Complex are guidelines that are enforced to ensure the safety and well being of those patrons who visit our pool complex. The Scarsdale Parks, Recreation & Conservation Department reserve the right to confiscate any permit for reasons of abuse of pool rules or pool staff. 1. The Department reserves the right to clear the pool area during threat of electrical storms or any other potentially hazardous situations. If this occurs, there will be NO refunds for guest fees or single use fees including but not limited to: birthday parties, and one time scheduled events. 2. The management cannot be held responsible for the loss or theft of any personal belongings. 3. Food and beverages are only permitted in the snack bar and picnic areas. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted anywhere inside the complex or on the property. 4. No solicitation, petitioning, distribution of handbills or other non-recreation Department oriented activity is permitted inside the pool area. This will only be allowed outside the pool complex with permission from the Village Manager. 5. Permit holders must show permits in order to gain admittance to the pool complex. A guest fee will be charged to those forgetting their pass. 6. The Scarsdale Municipal Pool Complex staff are the only individuals allowed to organize and implement public and private swim lessons in any pool at the complex. No guests are allowed to enter the facility and teach swim lessons. 7. No glass of any kind is permitted inside the Pool Complex. 8. Smoking is not permitted within the pool complex, including entrances and in front of the building. 9. No dogs, cats, or other animals are allowed inside the pool area, with the exception of service animals. 10. All refuse and waste paper must be deposited in the designated receptacles. Diapers are only to be disposed of in the locker room receptacles. 11. All information posted on pool bulletin boards, inside the pool facility, or outside the main gates must have prior approval from the Scarsdale Parks, Recreation & Conservation Department. 12. Any group wishing to utilize the pool facility for any special occasion, must fill out a request form and be approved by the Scarsdale PRC. Approval for special uses will be considered only for purposes that benefit the pool facility, and do not interfere with ordinary use by members. 13. On busy afternoons the management reserves the right to call 15 minute adults swim for the main pool. (Anyone under the age of 18 will not be permitted in the pool at that time.)
Pool Conduct/Safety 1. No diving is permitted in the Main, Intermediate or Wading Pools. 2. No backward dives or twists will be allowed in the Diving Pool. No diving from the sides of the pool and/or any action that a lifeguard deems unsafe. 3. It is strongly recommended that no one under 10 years of age uses the high dive board. 4. Sitting on, climbing on, or hanging garments on the railings and fence is prohibited. 5. No water pistols are allowed. 6. Any person under 13 years of age, must be accompanied in the pool area by an adult, or persons 18 years of age or older. 7. Picnic area- If you are bringing food from outside the pool complex, you must use the grass picnic area only. Concrete area is only for the purchasing of food from the Snack bar. 8. Coral area is to be used for ball play, catch, Frisbee etc. 9. NO HORSEPLAY ALLOWED: This includes but does not limit the following: running, shoving, pushing in the complex, no splashing, throwing items, handstands, climbing on shoulders anywhere in the pool area. 10. No rollerblades, bikes, heeleys, or scooters allowed in the pool complex. 11. Non-swimmers under 4 ½ feet (54 ) in height are allowed in the main pool only when accompanied by a responsible adult or a swimmer 14 years of age or older. 12. Lounging is not permitted on the steps or ladders leading into the pools and pool deck surrounding the pool. 13. Only one person at a time is allowed on the diving boards. No diving or jumping is allowed until the entry area below is safely cleared and the previous diver has reached the side of the pool. 14. Children 5 years of age and under must be accompanied by an adult in the bath house. Any child 6 years of age or older must use the gender appropriate bath house. 15. The wading pool is for use by children up to 5 years of age and must also be supervised by an adult. 16. Visiting and personal conversations with lifeguards while they are on duty is prohibited. 17. Diving is prohibited off of the starting blocks, located in the lap lanes. 18. In the event that all lanes are occupied with two or more people, the circle swim policy is in effect. 19. The largest lane is the leisure lane, which is to be utilized by adults (18 years +) only. 20. The youth swim lanes are the last two lanes. 21. Lap lanes will not be available during swim team meets. Swim meets take place two to three times a pool season and dates will be posted in advance.
Clothing & Equipment 1. Every patron utilizing the pool is required to wear a bathing suit. Bathing suits must be in an acceptable state and must cover the body sufficiently to conform to an acceptable standard of decency, according to the judgment of pool personnel. For Health Sanitary purposes, no undergarments are allowed under bathing suits. 2. All non-toilet trained children must wear (3) layers: diaper, rubber pants, and bathing suit. The child may only swim in the wading or intermediate pools. For sanitary purposes, all diapers must be disposed of in the locker room receptacles, not in the pool area trash cans. 3. Cut off jeans or pants of any type and other items of wearing apparel are not considered acceptable swimming apparel. These items are not to be worn or allowed as swim wear. 4. Floatation devices; snorkels, masks, fins, and all other items are prohibited from the pools. Exceptions may be made by the Pool Manager s Office and during programs implemented by the PRC Department. Nose clips, ear plugs and swim goggles are acceptable. (Fins and mask, when used in place of goggles by lap swimmers are acceptable.) 5. Toys may be used in the wading pool only. 6. Any person wearing a bandage or external medication must obtain permission from the Pool Manager on duty before entering the water. No person with a skin rash or disease of any kind may enter the water without presenting a written statement from a physician. The statement needs to be given to the Pool Manager attesting to the fact that the swimming will not be harmful to the person afflicted or to others. 7. Blankets, towels, folding chairs, etc. may be taken to open areas around the pool and may be left no closer to the pool than the grass areas. ( This may include baby strollers) 8. Guests in Pool Locker Rooms must wear a towel, bathing suit, or clothing at all times while not actively showering or changing. 9. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while in Locker Rooms.
Guest Policy There are no exceptions to the Guest Policy or procedures. Any question regarding fees can be directed to the Pool Manager on duty. The Guest Fee policy will be enforced during the hours of pool operation. 1. Guest- Any non-permit holder that enters the pool facility will be considered a guest of the facility and will be required to pay the appropriate fee. To enter the facility, ALL guests must be accompanied by a permit holder. The fee is an entrance fee to the facility not a swimming fee. 2. Children- Children who are permit holders that are registered to take a swim/diving lesson, swim team practice/meet, or any Village sponsored class who is transported to the pool by a non-permit holder (babysitter, relative etc) must check in at the Manager s Office. You will have 15 minutes to exit the facility after the lesson is over, otherwise the non-permit holder will have to pay the guest fee. All other patrons must pay on the basis that they are using the pool facility. 3. Guest Fees All guest fees at the pool, regardless of age or day of the week is $12.00. (children under one year of age are exempt from guest fees.) There will be NO refunds given on Guest Fees. 4.
