DECEMBER EVENTS Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to All, A great big THANK YOU to all who participated in the first annual Oakwood Giving Tree Festival. From the Ladies Organization Here it is December and another eventful, fun filled year is history. I hope everyone enjoyed the nice fall weather and had a good time participating in club and Ladies Organization events. The Fall Fashion Show held on Saturday November 5th was a huge success and well attended. The meal was delicious and the models looked great in their fashions from Flutter, Talbots, Four Seasons and Dress Barn. A big thank you to the models and to Karen Deeter and her committee for their time putting this event together. The donations made for March of Dimes were very much appreciated and more than we could have hoped for. Thanks to every one of you that supported this wonderful event! CARDS ON THURSDAYS: The ladies that play bridge continue to do so during the winter months and if you are interested in playing please contact Jane Gavin. The ladies that usually golf play cards (Euchre) and if you are interested please be at the club by 11:00. It s a great way keep in touch with friends, have lunch and have some laughs. The 2017 Ladies Brochure will be available after the first of the year. I wish all of you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and hope to see you around the club before you take off to warmer climates! Sandy Rice Outgoing President 2

Golf ShoP Talk Keeping Your Golf Game Sharp Over the Winter Months It s that time of year, when it s just too cold to get outside and enjoy the game we all love so much. However, that doesn t mean that your golf game has to suffer. Over the Winter months we will be providing you with the tools to improve your golf game without ever stepping on a golf course. If you are looking for 2017 to be your best golf season yet, take some of these tips and put them to use. Putting Drills Box Drills: Set-up two golf ball boxes like you see below, and practice making a stroke in between these boxes. Once you become comfortable making a stroke, put a ball in between the boxes, and hit putts with the focus of rolling the ball on the same line every time. Box Drill #1 Box Drill #2 Speed Drill Speed Drill: Set-up a station like you see above (I m using quarters as markers). Practice taking strokes of different lengths with a focus on maintaining a consistent tempo throughout the stroke. The #1 reason golfers struggle with distance control on the greens is because their tempo is inconsistent. Work on developing a consistent tempo with different length strokes. Fitness Exercises Stability Ball Stability Ball Stability Ball Push up Hip Raise Wall Sit Sets: 1-3 10 30 sec. Chest Fly Sets: 1-3 10-12 reps Pullover Sets: 1-3 10-12 reps Plank Sets: 1-3 10 30 sec.
