The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston is a 32 bedroom home where families stay while their children undergo extensive medical treatment. Here, parents and children lead a life as normal as possible during their traumatic times without the financial burden of costly hotel and travel expenses. The Ronald McDonald Family Room at MUSC provides a sanctuary within the walls of the hospital where family members can rest, read, shower, have a snack or a cup of coffee while still being only minutes away from their seriously ill child. For 34 years, RMHC Charleston has provided compassionate care and vital resources to more than 17,000 families of critically ill children. A majority of our families come from South Carolina, but we have served families from all 50 states and 13 different countries. Each night the Ronald McDonald House has 32 families, who have traveled to Charleston for their child s medical treatment, calling our House their Home-away-from-home. Our home offers these families comfortable beds, hot meals, a caring staff, and a four-legged friend, Gardy, all just steps from the hospital. RMHC Charleston has 24/7 awake staff to help our families whenever needed. It is through your support, that we are able to continue to help these families during their darkest times. Last year we helped 786 families who traveled to Charleston for their child s medical treatment. Ronald McDonald House Charities empowers families by providing stability and vital resources so they can get and keep their child happy and healthy. By keeping families together, RMHC helps children heal faster and cope better.
