Chapter 9. Lightly Raced Horses

BERGSÅKER SATURDAY, AUGUST 25

Transcription:

VINCENNES - 5th May Trainer of the day : Jean-Michel Bazire (612, 708, 802, 808) Driver of the day : Jean-Michel Bazire (206, 410, 612, 708, 802) Horse of the day : Draft Life (308) Dark Horse : Viking Blue (604) Race 1 1. BOSTON TERRIE - Won smartly here late March but found wanting next time. Tries 2850m over the long course under the saddle for the first time and should not be entirely overlooked 2. BATATA - Superb in both starts under the saddle over course and distance. Currently in fine form and with hind shoes off looks a serious player from the first row 3. CAID DE BENGALE - Handy sort under the saddle. Will be fully fit by now and the front-line start can only work to his advantage 4. ATOUT DU HAINAUT - Got the year off to a promising start but very disappointing since and will have few friends

5. VIVIEN - Has taken particularly well to his new vocation. Incurs the penalty here but is fresh and should not be overlooked 6. VAISSEAU - Nothing to like on his formsheet for the past 16 months and can be written off 7. ARENA DEL PHEDO - Not the most reliable but has ample ability. Drops back in class and with her mind on the game could pick up some stake money 8. UNION DE BELLANDE - Hardy sort that finished runner-up to (10) CADUCEUS DES BAUX here last month and can again fill the second spot 9. ALTO DU LYS - Regular for the most part. Trotted fourth in the race of reference and with hind shoes off this time will generate more interest 10. CADUCEUS DES BAUX - Made a dynamic comeback over 2850m on the short course last month setting his personal best and looks to have every chance of doubling his money The tough (10) CADUCEUS DES BAUX made no bones about winning over the short course on re-entry mid-april and a similar effort would offer him a second straight victory. The ever-consistent (8) UNION DE BELLANDE finished runnerup to him that day and once again looks the principal opposition. (2) BATATA has been enjoying a good run of late - she has never failed to fire under these conditions and the 25m advantage can only enhance her already good prospects. (9) ALTO DU LYS finished fourth in the race of reference and with hind shoes off this time should show improvement. (10) CADUCEUS DES BAUX - (8) UNION DE BELLANDE - (2) BATATA - (9) ALTO DU LYS

Race 2 1. LOVER BOY - Unbeaten in four to date. Comes here fresh and although in significantly better company should nonetheless acquit himself competitively 2. LAUREL PARK - Opened his account in Italy late December but has not raced since and will need the outing 3. CITY GUIDE - Brought to France after a fine debut in Italy last December. Well-regarded at home and expected to figure prominently here 4. MISTER F DAAG - Gave a good account in both starts last year. Unseen for seven months though and others preferred this time 5. ZARCHICCO PARK - Hardy transalpine colt making his first appearance in France but could be race-rusty after almost 6 months off 6. FALCO D'HERIPRE - Has climbed the class ladder in good order. Almost maintained his unbeaten status here last month and looks a serious player on first start at this level 7. FLAMBEAU ROYAL - Regularly gives everything he has and appreciates these conditions but no more than a minor place chance 8. FRENCH MAN - An excellent servant to date. Won stylishly over track and trip last time and although unraced since February can still play an important role 9. FIGHTER SMART - Respectable type that did not displease in the Prix Atlas last month but still has a lot more to find 10. FELICIANO - Progressive type that finished runner-up to (8) FRENCH MAN early February. Made a solid re-entry in the G.III Prix Atlas and must be respected 11. FLOCKI D'AURCY - Winner of all three this year and latterly in good order over course and distance. Fourth straight success a distinct possibility 12. FRIC DU CHENE - Tricky sort that has shown more of late. Caught the eye in the G.II Prix Paul Karle late April but this extended trip is unlikely to suit him 13. FRISBEE D'AM - Hardy colt from the Riviera that failed to fire over shorter last time. Has no great love for Vincennes and can be ruled out 14. FAST DES BROUSSES - G.II-placed colt dropping back in class after a lacklustre effort late last month and should be good enough to make the first five this time Considering how well (6) FALCO D'HERIPRE has acquitted himself so far he looks a colt for the future. He was beaten by little over course and distance three weeks ago and with Bazire in charge could well impose this time. That said he

will be pitted against the highly impressive Philippe Allaire-trained (11) FLOCKI D'AURCY who is unbeaten in three this year and latterly with courage in a Class A under similar conditions. (8) FRENCH MAN has been a model of consistency so far and even though unraced since his impressive February success he will still garner support. After a fine debut in Italy last December (3) CITY GUIDE makes his long-awaited French debut and should be able to get in on the action. (6) FALCO D'HERIPRE - (11) FLOCKI D'AURCY - (8) FRENCH MAN - (3) CITY GUIDE

Race 3 1. DESTINEE JABA - Debuts in ridden competition but has shown sufficient ability under harness to be considered a player 2. DROLE DE GOSSE - Previously a very good sort but has made little impact since June 2016 and can be ruled out 3. DURZIE - Delicate type that has struggled with form since the autumn and needs to get her house in order 4. DARLHEY DU RIB - Regularly gives a decent account when applied and a repeat of her Prix Paul Bastard effort would see her pick up a cheque here 5. DEXTER FROMENTRO - Has not once disappointed since switching codes. Tends to prefer longer but given his toughness and consistency can be assured significant support 6. DRAGON D'AVRIL - In his element over the distance here. Rarely wins but comes here fresh and should logically finish in the mix 7. DRAGON DU FRESNE - Winner of five G.II events over 2175m. Is barefoot following his sanctioned prep under harness and should give a competitive account 8. DRAFT LIFE - Dual G.I winner that finished runner-up in the Prix du Cornulier. Prepped superbly under harness three weeks ago and should have this in the bag Describing (8) DRAFT LIFE as all-class would be no exaggeration given how she has matured and toughened up. After an excellent prep under harness mid-april she goes barefoot again and will take all the beating. Her closest rival is undoubtedly (5) DEXTER FROMENTRO who would have made it four G.II successes on the trot had he not been bettered by the older Captain Sparrow in the Prix Louis Forcinal. Set to fight out the minor spots are the versatile (7) DRAGON DU FRESNE - who can boast a fine record over course and distance - and (4) DARLHEY DU RIB. (8) DRAFT LIFE - (5) DEXTER FROMENTRO - (7) DRAGON DU FRESNE - (4) DARLHEY DU RIB

Race 4 1. ESPERANZO - Good consistent colt making his first foray into G.II category and may well have bitten off more than he can chew 2. EUREKA DU FOSSE - Justifiably well-regarded sort but takes a big leap in class and appears to have her work cut out 3. ETERNELLE DELO - Respectable filly but not the most productive at this level and can be passed over 4. ETONNANT - Has not once finished out of the frame when applied. Left a very good impression behind (7) EARL SIMON at Enghien and could well fill one of the minor-money spots 5. ELSA DU POMMEREUX - Modest filly at this level of competition and although unlucky at Enghien will still have nothing to offer 6. EVER PRIDE - Not once out of the frame in last seven starts. Accounted for many others here in the G.II Prix Phaeton early April at his first attempt in the class and should again figure prominently 7. EARL SIMON - Classy colt with an enviable strike-rate. Beat a host of others here when securing the G.II Prix Gaston Brunet two weeks ago and with hind shoes off again can play a leading role 8. ESTOLA - Earned her place in this line-up after a solid G.II Prix Gaston de Wazieres victory. Goes barefoot for the first time and must be respected 9. ELEA MADRIK - Undeniably talented but has been struggling with stride issues lately. Is barefoot for the occasion though and can get a look in if she can get off on the right foot 10. ENINO DU POMMEREUX - Hardy trotter that finished a good second to (7) EARL SIMON at Enghien a fortnight back. Has never imposed at this level but can still finish in the mix 11. ELISIONE MAG - Trotted a decent second to (15) ERMINIG D'OLIVERIE in the G.II Prix Paul Leguerney but less effective next time at Enghien. Races firsttime-barefoot though and should not be underestimated 12. EXPRESS JET - Finished second in the G.I Prix de Selection - when barefoot for the first time - ahead of (15) ERMINIG D'OLIVERIE. Has prepped well twice since and with shoes off again looks a serious player 13. EASY DES RACQUES - Left a good impression behind (7) EARL SIMON in the Prix Phaeton but no better than fifth in only start over the distance here and will need to find more 14. ELITE DU RUEL - Blows hot and cold but has good credentials at this level and should not be far off the mark

15. ERMINIG D'OLIVERIE - Undeniably the best filly of her generation. Benefits from the absence of two top colts and with shoes off for the occasion can complement her Criterium des 3 Ans victory In the absence of Eridan and Ecu Pierji (15) ERMINIG D'OLIVERIE looks to have an excellent chance of becoming just the fourth filly since 1970 to win the Criterium des 4 Ans. She won the 3yo version by default but is barefoot here and can expect significant support - although she may have to play second fiddle to the unshod (12) EXPRESS JET who beat her in the G.I Prix de Selection when barefoot for the first time. The consistently improving (7) EARL SIMON left quite the impression when winning the Prix Gaston Brunet at Enghien last month and also appears to have a good hand to play. (6) EVER PRIDE beat the last two in the Prix Phaeton early April and will not be available at such a generous price this time around. (12) EXPRESS JET - (15) ERMINIG D'OLIVERIE - (7) EARL SIMON - (6) EVER PRIDE - (10) ENINO DU POMMEREUX - (9) ELEA MADRIK - (8) ESTOLA - (11) ELISIONE MAG

Race 5 1. CICERO NOA - A completely reinvigorated horse in recent months and under these conditions can make a big impact 2. CHICA DE JOUDES - Fine campaigner when applied. Sanctioned in last two but will be more at ease at Vincennes and has a fine opportunity to return to winning ways 3. BEAU DE GRIMOULT - Good dual-purpose trotter but seldom creates any waves at Vincennes and is not about to buck the trend 4. CLASS DE LORIOL - Scored four of his seven successes at the venue and when applied is hard to knock. Place chance 5. VICHENKO CHEF - Last seen in the frame in December 2016. Disregard 6. BARAKA DE BELLOU - Finished a place behind (8) UN CHER AMI at Laval late April but is Nivard's preference here and looks competitively well in 7. BLUES DES LANDIERS - Beat some good types last time here - including (11) CLASSIC WAY - and although racing for the 4th time in three weeks will nonetheless generate some interest 8. UN CHER AMI - Versatile veteran that beat (6) BARAKA DE BELLOU at Laval recently. Has been deserted by Nivard but one to note all the same 9. VIKING FROMENTRO - Hardy trotter but better with shoes off and will struggle to leave his mark 10. BELLINE D'URZY - Nothing to like on her formsheet this term and can be confidently disregarded 11. CLASSIC WAY - Frequently seen in better company. Made a solid comeback here three weeks ago and should go closer this time 12. BONNE COPINE - Not always the most reliable but caught the eye last time here behind (7) BLUES DES LANDIERS and should not be ignored 13. VENICIO POMMEREUX - Handy sort when barefoot but unraced since September and with shoes on can be ruled out 14. CALIN DE MORGE - Fine servant that is beginning to get back in the game. Encouraged in the race of reference and will be one to keep an eye on 15. AS DORE - Useful but not the most productive this term and is unlikely to shake things up 16. CATHY A QUIRA - Erratic mare but not without merit. Improved at Enghien recently and could get a look in if she can get off on the right foot 17. BEST DU HAUTY - Has failed to finish closer than fourth in last nine outings and not easy to back

(2) CHICA DE JOUDES is a serious mare with nothing to prove at this level and although sanctioned in last two she returns to a track at which she thrives and with application should have her way. She will however be up against the tough (11) CLASSIC WAY who left a very good impression on re-entry mid-april and should logically come on for the run. (6) BARAKA DE BELLOU showed marked improvement at Laval and is Nivard's preference on this occasion. (1) CICERO NOA has been impossible to fault since the start of the year and should again figure prominently. (4) CLASS DE LORIOL rarely lets the side down when behaved and will also have her chances. (2) CHICA DE JOUDES - (11) CLASSIC WAY - (6) BARAKA DE BELLOU - (1) CICERO NOA - (4) CLASS DE LORIOL

Race 6 1. BEL AVIS - Pleased for the most part over the winter and encouraged following a short spell but races shod this time and chances slim at best 2. CASH GAMBLE - Well-regarded sort that gave an excellent account in the G.III Prix Jean Riaud ahead of (10) VALKO JENILAT and (8) TRADERS and in similar form can play an active role 3. BEAU GAMIN - Caused something of an upset when winning the G.III Prix Jean Riaud three weeks ago but with shoes on has no chance of repeating 4. VIKING BLUE - Tough type that seldom disappoints when barefoot. Aims a bit higher here but with application should not be far off the mark 5. CYPRIEN DES BORDES - Better class of horse in the other branch of the business and can be ruled out 6. CARAT WILLIAMS - Not as productive since taking on his elders but has encouraged lately and if all goes to plan should be able to make the first five 7. OLMO HOLZ - Went into his winter break on a low note and no threat in first appearance since November 8. TRADERS - Decidedly better in the other code but solid in last two and is not incapable of making the frame here 9. UPPERCUT DE MANCHE - Showed improvement under the saddle here early April but simply not a realistic proposition 10. VALKO JENILAT - Tough type that seldom disappoints under these conditions. Finished joint third with (12) BELINA JOSSELYN twelve months ago and can again make the first three 11. AKIM DU CAP VERT - No longer the most reliable of trotters and while not disgraced at Enghien is no more than an outside chance 12. BELINA JOSSELYN - Has returned to her best since the start of the year and latterly missed out by little in the Prix de l'atlantique. Dead-heated for third in this event in 2017 and could impose this time 13. BIRD PARKER - Excellent campaigner over longer trips but nonetheless impressed behind (12) BELINA JOSSELYN at Enghien. In present condition looks a serious prospect (12) BELINA JOSSELYN is one of the classiest mares in the country and seldom disappoints when barefoot. She goes over any trip and in current form looks to have the measure of Philippe Allaire's muscleman (13) BIRD PARKER who returns to a distance which suits him down to the ground. Stablemate (8)

TRADERS is unquestionably better in the other code but he has talent in spades and under these conditions looks dangerous. (10) VALKO JENILAT however has hardly put a foot out of place for the past 12 months and in present shape is hard to fault. (12) BELINA JOSSELYN - (13) BIRD PARKER - (8) TRADERS - (10) VALKO JENILAT

Race 7 1. BLUE STORY - Rarely disappoints when barefoot. Trotted third to (4) BLUES D'OURVILLE here three weeks ago and the inside line will do her prospects no disservice 2. ZONGULDAK - Speedy type with a good place in front but currently off the boil and hard to make a case 3. AZARO D'EVA - Has ability but dependability not his strong suit. Is confirmed over course and distance though and should not be ruled out 4. BLUES D'OURVILLE - Rock solid in his last four starts. Won better over track and trip last month than the gap suggests and from the four-spot can confirm 5. TELL ME NO LIES - Blows hot and cold but pleased in two of last three. Ie well-positioned in front and will have his chances 6. VIC DU POMMEREUX - Has placed just once from six this year so far and mush show improvement 7. BLOOMA D'HERIPRE - Barring the occasional sanction has been in flying form over recent months and has the wherewithal to finish in the mix 8. BARRIO JOSSELYN - Hardy sort that drops back in trip after two solid efforts. Has the boss in the sulky and even starting wide looks dangerous 9. VASCO DE VIETTE - A total write-off since last September and will justifiably have few takers 10. ASTRAL VIRETAUTE - Kicked the year off successfully but has struggled since and must rediscover her rhythm 11. DIAMOND - Trotter with excellent speed and currently going good guns. Imposed under these conditions last month and has every chance of making the frame 12. BUZZ MEARAS - Undeniably talented but has raced little in last 11 months and recent re-entry was insufficient to inspire enough confidence (4) BLUES D'OURVILLE has been on a fine run of late and imposed stylishly over course and distance three weeks ago when drawn wide. He has a plum spot in front this time and can double his money. (8) BARRIO JOSSELYN is seldom seen over this trip but when barefoot is a tough rival and although starting wide will have Bazire in the sulky and could prove something of a spoiler. (11) DIAMOND steps marginally up in class but beat his personal best when imposing under these conditions last month and looks to be in with a decent shout. (1) BLUE STORY finished third to the favourite last month - she appreciates autostart events and is expected to play an active role.

(4) BLUES D'OURVILLE - (8) BARRIO JOSSELYN - (11) DIAMOND - (1) BLUE STORY

Race 8 1. DESIR DE BANNES - Like a horse reborn this season. Takes a big step up in class though and with shoes on will not find this an easy test 2. DEFI DE RETZ - Unbeaten since moving to his new yard. Comes here on a four-timer and although in considerably better company Bazire is at the helm and could well continue his successful run 3. DECENNIE - Has enjoyed a good run of form since the turn of the year but has little room for manoeuvre at this level and a minor place chance at best 4. DUBAI D'ESSARTS - Good consistent mare for the most part. Somewhat below-par last time but can still make the first five 5. DETROIT CASTELETS - Sprang a 50-1 surprise when winning the Prix Robert Auvray late March. Failed to confirm behind (6) DRAGON DES RACQUES next time but is barefoot here and must be afforded respect 6. DRAGON DES RACQUES - Regularly in the thick of things when applied. Put in a splendid finish in the Prix Henri Levesque and in similar form can again make the frame 7. DHIKTI VEDAQUAIS - Classy individual but has been on the sidelines for the past 18 months and will need the run 8. DAVIDSON DU PONT - Exceptional trotter that seldom disappoints. Was full of running when sanctioned in the Prix Robert Auvray and if applied can win this time Unbeaten since moving to Jean-Michel Bazire's yard (2) DEFI DE RETZ takes his game to a new level here. His handler has chosen him as his preferred drive and could well strike on his first appearance at group level. He has entrusted the high-class (8) DAVIDSON DU PONT to Franck Ouvrie for the occasion which must be considered an auspicious sign. (6) DRAGON DES RACQUES put in a superb performance in the G.II Prix Henri Levesque three weeks ago and a similar effort would see him finish in the mix once more. (5) DETROIT CASTELETS trotted fifth that day after having won the G.II Prix Robert Auvray over course and distance late March and with shoes off this time will again have his chances. (2) DEFI DE RETZ - (8) DAVIDSON DU PONT - (6) DRAGON DES RACQUES - (5) DETROIT CASTELETS

Race 9 1. ESTOURNEL MOURIEZ - Unexceptional trotter but is proven here. Faces better though and not an obvious choice 2. EDGY PERRINE - Has enjoyed a good run since racing unshod behind and will have his supporters 3. EDELWEISS PARK - Racing unshod has proved the ticket to his redemption. Winner of his last two and the hat-trick is not beyond his reach 4. EQUEJUELO - Won four of six races he has finished and unbeaten in two this term. Is barefoot again and will have his chances 5. ESPOIR DE L'ETRE - Regularly gives everything he has but with just one race under his belt can be passed over 6. EMIR SPEEDHYCAT - Not once out of the frame when applied. Lost his action on comeback at Cherbourg but can make amends and finish in the mix here 7. EADSHOT JOSSELYN - Like a horse reborn since going unshod behind. First time at Vincennes but still the one to beat 8. EUDES DE L'AUNAY - Pleased here earlier in the year but has since lost his way and will not be easy to back 9. ECHO DU TRIO - Won at Lisieux before being found wanting here next time. Better right-handed and others preferred 10. EMENCOURT BLEQUIN - Has not been the most productive since the break but is unshod all four for the first time and could get a look in 11. ESPOIR ROSE - Moderate sort that has been off the boil this year and must reaffirm 12. EXPRESS EVENING - Temperamental type that won over track and trip three weeks ago before having it taken away. On good behaviour though he could lose his maiden tag 13. EDDY D'OCCAGNES - Decent colt that kicked the year off well. Sanctioned at Argentan after the spell but has hind shoes off here and should get back in the game 14. EOLE D'ERPE - Has placed just once in eight starts on the outer course and appears to have his work cut out Since returning to competition this year (7) EADSHOT JOSSELYN has been nothing short of impressive and even though making his Vincennes debut he still looks the horse to beat. The complicated (12) EXPRESS EVENING won over

course and distance three weeks ago before losing victory in the stewards' room and if in similar form and applied he could just pull this off. (3) EDELWEISS PARK has been transformed since going unshod and returns to harness racing with legitimate ambition. (4) EQUEJUELO is unbeaten in two this year and the nature of his recent Caen success bodes well for his chances. (7) EADSHOT JOSSELYN - (12) EXPRESS EVENING - (3) EDELWEISS PARK - (4) EQUEJUELO

MAISONS-LAFFITTE - 5th May Trainer of the day : Julien Phelippon (203, 416) Jockey of the day : Christophe Soumillon (206, 301, 502, 613, 815) Horse of the day : Plutocracy (203) Dark Horse : Rouge Désir (807) Race 1 1. JUNIUS BRUTUS - Won really well on debut at La Teste-de-Buch last month and every chance as favourite 2. KODIAC TIME - Finished close second on debut here last month and should come on more from that 3. ASHWAGANDHA - Third on claiming debut at Longchamp last month and will need to jump up off that 4. LA FEVE - Both runs at La Teste-de-Buch but hammered by Junius Brutus last time 5. YOUNG CITY - Unplaced in all three starts and looks to have too much much on here for sure We start racing today with a small field of two year old's and there will be a popular warm favourite going to post in the shape of (1) JUNIUS BRUTUS who blitzed his rivals on debut at La Teste-de-Buch last month and it will come as a shock of he is beaten. (2) KODIAC TIME was just touched off here last month on her first try and should fill the same spot again. (4) LA FEVE and (3) ASHWAGANDHA can follow home. (1) JUNIUS BRUTUS - (2) KODIAC TIME - (4) LA FEVE - (3) ASHWAGANDHA

Race 2 1. TRES SOLID - Nine wins from sixty two runs and will appreciate this drop in grade here 2. MONTESQUIEU - Fifteen time scorer from ninety five and two in the bag already this season 3. PLUTOCRACY - Four victories from thirty four starts and looks the most likely winner here 4. SCANDALEUX - Four wins from twenty eight runs and gained two of those already this season 5. DEELEY'S DOUBLE - Sole success was gained in the UK and could go well at a huge price perhaps 6. AJMANY - A nine time winner from forty six and has the form to be competitive in this heat A small field also for this claimer but the one that stands out is (3) PLUTOCRACY, the mount of the brilliant Pierre-Charles Boudot. The selection has the joint top rating of these but is much more reliable and consistent and looks the winner to be fair. (6) AJMANY should make a strong second for the forecast ahead of (1) TRES SOLID and (2) MONTESQUIEU. (3) PLUTOCRACY - (6) AJMANY - (1) TRES SOLID - (2) MONTESQUIEU

Race 3 1. SHINING STAR - Placed in three of four starts and sets the standard here and will be favourite 2. MALAKITE - Placed in two of her four runs and is the type to progress into the future 3. MY LOVELY ONE - One place in four outings but the feeling is there is more in the locker 4. PARIS PARIS - Placed in four of her six starts and can have a say for the money today 5. MIA LILY BLUE - Unplaced in all four runs but there were hints of ability there also. Each way hopes 8. OCCHIOBELLO - Runner up three times in sixteen outings but overall profile is now a weak one 9. LA CATALEYA - Placed in three of her ten starts but does not appear to be progressing right now 10. SCARLETT CHOPE - Just the one win from twenty one starts but looking totally exposed at the minute 11. STORY BEGINS - Placed in two of her dozen starts but cannot be fancied here at all for this This three year old handicap for fillies only looks booked for the joint top weight (1) SHINING STAR who has the advantage of being ridden by Christophe Soumillon. She has run extremely well in all her outings and this mark may underestimate her. (2) MALAKITE can do the chasing home and in turn see off (3) MY LOVELY ONE and (4) PARIS PARIS. (1) SHINING STAR - (2) MALAKITE - (3) MY LOVELY ONE - (4) PARIS PARIS

Race 4 1. BUBBLY - Half a dozen wins from fifty three and already in grand order this term 2. TEXAS BRIGHT MOON - Just the one win from twenty four and others are mulch preferred here now 3. GUADIX - Dual winner from two dozen runs but not in any type of form and is overlooked 4. EAST INDIA - Twice a winner from twenty nine but in a poor run of form and not ruled in 5. EVER ONE - Triple winner from fifty and back to form second at Saint-Cloud last time. Chance 6. NORTHLANDS - Still a maiden after a dozen tries but was runner up on penultimate one at Longchamp 7. ALFORROCHO - A dual winner from seventy one but has form to be competitive here at a price 8. WHOWASRIGHT - Finished last season in good order but may need this seasonal return here. Chance all the same 9. RONCHOIS - Just the one win from twenty one and must do a lot better to figure now 10. BELLA NOCHE - Is a maiden after twenty eight starts and despite going close on a few ocassions has to be passed over for win purpose 11. GRAND AKBAR - Ten time winning veteran and did it well at Limoges last time out so a contender 12. CALAJANI - Only one victory from thirty two but might have a small squeak at a big price 13. NOTORIOUS IMPERIAL - Is zero from twenty two and simply must do better is the advice for today 14. LOU LOUP - Still a maiden after twenty tree and nothing too much positive in all reality to say 15. REFLET DE LUNE - Dual winner from thirteen and has had some sort of issues to deal with so plenty to prove 16. CRYSTAL ROC - Only one win from twenty seven but ultra competitive and consistent. Every chance 17. VARDARIS - Half a dozen wins from eighty starts but others look better placed for today 18. DIAMOND RED - Just the one success from three dozen runs but good effort

at Loudeac last time out This is so totally wide open as the big numbers suggest so basically stakes should be kept on the lower side. However, there is one that takes the eye and makes a fair amount of appeal and that is (16) CRYSTAL ROC who looks sure to give it a right shot based on his overall profile. He is consistent and likes a battle. (6) NORTHLANDS and (5) EVER ONE must be ruled in along with (1) BUBBLY and (8) WHOWASRIGHT. (16) CRYSTAL ROC - (6) NORTHLANDS - (5) EVER ONE - (1) BUBBLY - (8) WHOWASRIGHT

Race 5 1. INTERIEUR - Won on only start at Cagnes-sur-Mer in February and did it well there so noted 2. DARBANZA - Three good runs. Won at Fontainebleau on debut last year and a pleasing reappearance at Longchamp 3. BOULEVARD - Third on debut last November at Deauville and showed loads of promise in the process 4. IMPERATORE - Finished tenth on debut at Fontainebleau so needs to improve a bundle now 10. VICTORIA'S ANGEL - One win from ten starts but is an ultra consistent sort so has an outside chance Some very nice sorts on show here for this conditions event for three year olds. (2) DARBANZA has to be chosen. The well connected filly represents some very big players here and has the form already in the book after three starts including a narrow defeat at Longchamp last time out. (3) BOULEVARD and (1) INTERIEUR are both nice types as well. (8) HUMANISTE can grab a slice of the action too. (2) DARBANZA - (3) BOULEVARD - (1) INTERIEUR - (8) HUMANISTE

Race 6 1. SHOW THE WAY - Off the mark last month in a claimer at Saint Cloud so should be better for that 2. BEEP BOP PELEM - Placed in all five starts this year and runner up in three of those so bang in form 3. LOCA FURIOSA - Still a maiden after fifteen but was runner up on penultimate one of those at Chantilly 4. JAY KULINA - Much better effort last time out when third at Longchamp so can build further on that 5. ANOTHER LOVE - Remains a maiden after thirteen and really needs to put it all together here 6. OUT OF IDEAS - Just the three runs over as many seasons but better third to Show The Way last time 7. MICOLYS - She is a dual winner from fifteen and was a good third two starts back at Longchamp 8. EL TANGO BELLO - Just the one win from thirteen but always consistent and that is always noteworthy 9. OSPECTOR - Not too much to recommend after nine winless outings so best left alone 10. KHEOPPS - Dual winner from thirteen starts and not far behind a couple of these last time 11. MANILA PALM - Eventually back to form when runner up in a Fontainebleau handicap last time out so back on track 12. RED MISTRAL - Twice a winner from twenty nine but appears to be hopelessly out of sorts right now 13. MAIGVIL - Still a maiden after many runs but has been runner up on his last four starts and surely will crack the code soon 14. SNOWY SUNDAY - Remains a maiden after nine runs but has put up some good performances and could be well in 15. CLOONAGE - Unplaced in all five runs and needs to be doing that bit better here today 16. PRINCESS OF SNOW - Yet to score after twenty seven tries and basically patience has run out with this one 17. LA PLAYA - She is still winless after twenty two and very easy to look elsewhere again

It might pay to side with the perennial maiden here in (13) MAIGVIL. One feels for the selection somewhat having been runner up in his last four attempts but the handicapper has been kind and the breakthrough can eventually come in this event. (11) MANILA PALM came back to form last time and looks sure to go well. (2) BEEP BOP PELEM and (8) EL TANGO BELLO must be given a shout as should (7) MICOLYS. (13) MAIGVIL - (11) MANILA PALM - (2) BEEP BOP PELEM - (8) EL TANGO BELLO - (7) MICOLYS

WITCHCRAFT - Still a maiden after seventeen and beginning to run out of a few excuses now 10. CATUSHABA - Eight wins from eighty four runs and is sliding down to reasonable mark 11. ROSE DOLOISE - Two wins from forty five runs and it is time to be getting another at this stage 12. ALEX DES FOSSES - Scored twice early last season but lightly raced thereafter and may need this 13. CAJULA - A dual winner from thirty three but looks to be an outsider in this heat It is not easy to look beyond the strong credentials of (3) PRETOR in this perfectly winable contest. The mount of the excellent Filip Minarik has had two good efforts in this country already this season and will find things much easier here in this grade. He rather stands out. (10) CATUSHABA has reasonable prospects of a place and so do both (6) SANTORINA and (1) PIWI CHOP.

out so noted There is one lurking in here at a huge price that just might be of interest. That animal is (7) ROUGE DESIR who has gone through some misfortune having missed a huge chunk of time between October 2014 through to September 17. He has won and run respectable since then and has as fair a chance as anything else here. (15) ALCYONE and the veteran (8) ARISTOTE are more obvious with (3) NATSUME and (2) DANDY RIVER worthy of mention too. (7) ROUGE DESIR - (15) ALCYONE - (8) ARISTOTE - (3) NATSUME - (2) DANDY RIVER
