STEWARDS: J D Walshe (Chairman), B J Gray & Cadet T A McDonald RIDING CHANGES After being granted permission to lower her minimum riding weight 1kg from 53kg to 52kg on the day of acceptances in accordance with policy and a public release being made, app M Wright was subsequently unable to claim down to that weight and consequently Stewards permitted the following riding changes: Race 7 Race 8 New Vogue app Ms M Kinny Circuit Spirit app A Sweeney At a subsequent inquiry app M Wright was fined the sum of $100 (LR70) and advised that any application for a reduction in her minimum riding weight would be denied until at least the arrival of the warmer months. GENERAL An inquiry was today heard into a complaint received from apprentice Ms M Wright, represented by her master Mr J Ible, against licensed trainer Mr C Hensler regarding an incident during the Goulburn racemeeting conducted on Monday 22 June 2015. Mr Hensler pleaded guilty to a charge of improper conduct under AR175(q) in that following the running of Race 7 at the abovementioned racemeeting he did direct inappropriate language toward Ms Wright following her ride of Jayko, which is trained by Mr Hensler. Mr Hensler was fined the sum of $200. RACE 1: Bay Bargain Shoes Class 1 & Maiden Plate 1650m After being presented in the mounting enclosure, Stewards in the completion of their checks identified that She s Back and Spinning Portrait, both trained by Mr Benny Wynen, had been saddled with their opposing rider s saddle, packing and gear, which for Spinning Portrait included a lead bag, but both with the correct saddlecloth number. The race was delayed to enable each rider to re-weigh prior to both runners being re-saddled in the tie-up stall area, however due to further confusion by the trainer in the saddling of the two runners as to the correct saddle and gear for each horse, and to avoid any further unreasonable delay to provide certainty, Stewards ordered the late scratching of both She s Back and Spinning Portrait at 12:12pm. Stewards subsequently ordered that all investments on She s Back and Spinning Portrait be refunded in full and further that all successful bets with bookmakers placed prior to 12:12pm be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket: 1st: Painted Warrior: 10c win and 15c place. 2nd: Chantilly Prince: 14c place.
3rd: Lion Of Africa: 7c place. At a subsequent inquiry into the matter, evidence was taken from B Ward (Spinning Portrait), app D Panya (She s Back), licenced trainer Mr S Vella who assisted Mr Wynen in the saddling of both runners and Mr Wynen. Mr Wynen pleaded guilty to a charge under AR140A(2) of having failed to properly saddle She s Back and Spinning Portrait. Mr Wynen was fined the sum of $200. In assessing penalty and applying a significantly lesser penalty, Stewards took into account the mitigating circumstances in that, after weighing out, rider B Ward (Spinning Portrait) had handed him an incorrect saddlecloth number which when discovered at the tie-up stalls, necessitated in Mr Wynen having to journey back to the weighing room to retrieve the number 16 saddlecloth, and which resulted in him not being present for part of the saddling process when assisted by Mr Vella. In considering the evidence no fault was attributed to Mr Vella concerning his efforts to assist Mr Wynen in the saddling of the two runners. B Ward however was found guilty of a charge under LR57 in that after weighing out, he had placed an incorrect saddlecloth number with his saddle which was handed to Mr Wynen. B Ward was fined the sum of $50. Art Lover Trainer Mr M Minehan advised Stewards that he would instruct his rider to use the whip sparingly. Public announcements were made.
