The Lady Flames are 6-0 at home this season. They have won six straight home meetings with the Highlanders and are 22-1 versus Radford in the teams' last 23 matchups at the Vines Center. Rebounding will be key on Sunday, as Liberty tops the Big South in rebound margin (+6.7), while Radford boasts three of the conference's top nine rebounders. Reigning Big South Freshman of the Year Keyen Green has tallied 50 points in her last two games. She is trying to become the first Lady Flame since Megan Frazee (Feb. 2-16, 2009) with three straight 20-point outings. Ashtyn Baker, who leads Big South freshmen in assists and steals, will be playing her final game as an 18-year-old. RADFORD Liberty has faced Radford more often than any opponent in program history, as Sunday's contest will mark the 69th meeting of a series which began in 1980. Liberty has won six straight home games against the Highlanders and is 22-1 in its last 23 meetings with Radford inside the Vines Center. The Lady Flames own the Big South's longest active home winning streak (6 games) after UNC Asheville halted Radford's 21-game home winning streak on Jan. 9. Radford was voted No. 1 and Liberty No. 2 in the preseason Big South poll. Either Radford or Liberty has appeared in 30 of 31 Big South Women's Basketball Championship title games all time, but the Lady Flames and Highlanders have only faced one another in the championship game once (2008). Radford is returning to the Vines Center for the first time since suffering a 49-48 setback to UNC Asheville in the 2017 Big South Women's Basketball Championship title game. Liberty ranks No. 1 in the Big South for rebound margin (+6.7), including a +9.0 margin in conference games. On Sunday, the Lady Flames will face three of the Big South's top nine individual rebounders, Lydia Rivers (2nd, 8.6 rpg), Janayla White (3rd, 8.0) and Jayda Worthy (9th, 6.4). Liberty's top rebounder is Keyen Green at 6.0 rpg. LAST MEETING WITH RADFORD FEB. 7, 2017 LIBERTY 49, RADFORD 48 LYNCHBURG, VA. (VINES CENTER) Radford rallied from a 17-point deficit to take a fourth quarter lead. However, Liberty held on to win, thanks to an Audrey Rettstatt three-pointer with 1:19 to play and key free throws by Nene Johnson and Tatyana Crowder in the final 11 seconds. Iva Ilic scored a game-high 15 points for the Lady Flames, while Keyen Green added 10 points and 10 rebounds. Destinee Walker (14 points) and Sydney Nunley (13 points, 9 rebounds) paced the Highlanders. PLANES, TRAINS & AUTOMOBILES Liberty has survived a grueling travel schedule to begin the 2017-18 season, playing 13 road/neutral games in seven different states (Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia). The Lady Flames spent 11 nights in seven different hotels in the 17 days between Nov. 9-25 and have racked up 21 total hotel nights this season. Liberty has flown through 11 different airports already this season, including Atlanta (during the Dec. 17 power outage), Charlotte, Charlottesville, Des Moines, Detroit, Dulles, Hartford, Kansas City, Lynchburg, O'Hare and Raleigh/Durham. Due to the Dec. 17 power outage at the Atlanta Airport, a majority of the Liberty travel party had to bus 800 miles from Atlanta to Kansas City the next day. LADY FLAMES VS. THE COMMONWEALTH Liberty is playing its second straight game against an instate opponent, following Tuesday's win at Longwood. The Lady Flames are 20-5 in their last 25 meetings with Commonwealth foes, including 2-1 this season. Liberty opened its season with a win at Old Dominion on Nov. 10 and later lost at James Madison on Dec. 6. Liberty has defeated each of the other 12 in-state NCAA Division I women's basketball teams in program history. The Lady Flames are 8-1 when playing in Virginia this season but just 3-7 when venturing outside the Commonwealth. LADY FLAMES IN THE BIG SOUTH Liberty is tied with High Point and UNC Asheville atop the Big South standings at 6-1, with Radford one game back at 5-2. The Lady Flames are looking to start 7-1 or better in conference play for the first time since 2014-15, when Liberty won its first eight Big South contests. Liberty is off to a good start as it looks to win 10+ Big South games for the 19th consecutive season. The Lady Flames are also chasing their 16th Big South regular-season title, but their first since the 2014-15 season. ON THIS DATE: Liberty is 8-7 all-time on Jan. 28, having won five consecutive games played on the date. JAN. 28 Liberty is 0-2 when facing Radford on Jan. 28, with both losses coming in Lynchburg. The Highlanders posted a 74-65 victory over the Lady Flames on Jan. 28, 1993 and a 51-48 win over Liberty on Jan. 28, 1995. Liberty is 217-118 all-time in January, including 133-21 under Carey Green and 6-1 this season. 3
