History Miami in the NCAA 2005 Miami University Volleyball Dec. 11, 1981 New Mexico 3, Miami 1 Southwest Regional Albuquerque, N.M. In its first appearance at an NCAA Tournament, Miami got out of the gates in a hurry, downing New Mexico in the first game, 15-11. The Red and White battled to 11-15 decisions in the second and third games and eventually lost the fourth game and the match, 9-15. While the Red and White put forth a valiant effort in its first postseason appearance, the offensive power of New Mexico was just too much to withstand with three Lobos registering in double-figures for kills, including two above 20. 2005 Miami University Volleyball History Miami in the NCAA Dec. 5, 1997 Minnesota 3, Miami 0 Mountain Regional Provo, Utah Again receiving an at-large bid, Miami appeared in its third-consecutive NCAA Tournament and the fifth in the program s history. This time traveling to the mountains of Utah to face Minnesota in the first round. It also marked the first time the RedHawks were not paired with the host school and highest regional seed. With every active member of the team experienced in being in the tournament atmosphere, Miami was ready for battle. Relentless to give up, the RedHawk fell short in the first game, 14-16. Miami went on to drop the next two sets and end its stint in the tournament. Jessica Stout recorded 46 assists. The Red and White got off to a slow start against the Rainbow Wahine, dropping the first two games 15-4 and 15-5. It seemed as if the third game might go the same as the first two, but a persistent RedHawk attack was able to hold off the Rainbow Wahine. Miami was able to climb its way back from a 4-11 deficit to pull within four of Hawai i, 7-11. Hawai i rattled off two more points and were at match point. However, a tenacious RedHawk attack manufactured five points and 11 sideouts before the Rainbow Wahine took the game and the match 12-15.
