MOST Important Part of Recital... Our Parent Volunteers are why WSD Recitals are such a success each year! They coordinate with their dancer s class to help make the time fly by in the Performer s Staging Area! At least 2 Parent Volunteers per class are needed (Especially for Combination Classes) Parent Volunteers do not need a ticket for the recital they are volunteering for! YES They DO see their dancers dance! They won t miss it! See Ms. Amanda or Ms. Inge for more information and to sign up for this important recital role! What do they do in the Performer s Staging Area? Many dancers bring books to read, crossword puzzle books, word find books, playing cards, coloring books, colored pencils, crayons (no markers), blankets, & snacks. Some parents bring portable DVD players & kid appropriate movies, especially for the younger dancers. You may bring portable electronic devices; however, YOU are solely responsible for them and they should be labeled with your name. There will also be a Lost & Found location. If you bring something to drink, please no red-colored drinks. Clear liquids like apple juice, flavored waters, and, of course, bottled water are great. Some Non-Messy snacks might include cookies, popcorn, pretzels, crackers, goldfish crackers, but nothing with chocolate or anything that is sticky, cheesy, or greasy. Due to allergies, please NO peanuts or peanut products!! Younger children might benefit from a nap, a light dinner, and limited drinks. No running, horseplay, etc. is allowed. Dancers are accompanied when using the restroom or getting a drink of water. Costumes are irreplaceable! Students must wear their costume to Recital and may want to wear a cover-up.

Performer s Staging Area & Backstage Access Auditorium doors and Performer s Staging Area will open 45 minutes prior to each Recital. Dancers and Volunteers should go to their designated place in the Performer s Staging Area, or Dressing Rooms for Seniors and Juniors, as soon as they arrive. Only Volunteers, Dancers, Teachers, & Staff are allowed backstage. Dancers are NOT allowed to sit in the auditorium during Recital performances!! After the Finale, WSD staff will stay ON the stage with dancers until one parent comes to the front of the stage to pick up their special dancer. Please do not forget to get dancer s belongings from the Performer s Staging Area or designated Dressing Room after the Finale. WSD is not responsible for belongings left behind. Proper Theatre Etiquette Reserving seats is prohibited! Please be considerate of others. There is no admittance into the Auditorium while students are performing on stage! (You may only enter BETWEEN acts.) Please make sure your cell phones are turned off (or are on vibrate) while in the Auditorium! All photography (including cell phones) and videotaping during the recital is STRICTLY PROHIBITED! It is very distracting, unprofessional, and is our policy. Please respect it! For security purposes, all children MUST stay in their group during the Recital! No performers (dancers) are allowed in the audience! Only authorized personnel and classes waiting to go on stage are allowed in the wings. There is NO talking allowed there.
