PRE-TRIP TRIP INSURANCE Anything can happen on your trip. We highly recommend travel and cancelation insurance provided through Lifestyle Financial Services! Follow the link and simple steps to set you up for success! http://www.lifestylefinancial.ca/index.php/travelinsurance/blanketglacier-chalet WAIVER Mountain activities are hazardous. There are inherit risks with traveling through an uncontrolled environment. Please take this time to read and understand this document before your trip. A copy is found at the end of this info package, and online. We will have copies the morning of. Please let us know if you have any questions. Please review the waiver before your trip. PACKING Working with a 5 passenger A-Start helicopter to fly everyone and their gear into the lodge, we are very limited with space. Gear will be weighed prior to flights, and if groups have excessively heavy or overweight gear that requires an additional heli trip, groups are responsible for the added cost. Personal ski gear Wear all of your gear as if you were going skiing, including ski boots. Skis Strapped together, poles separate. No ski bags. Small duffle bag Max 30-40L. Either a small duffle with sleeping bag outside, or small sleeping bag inside a medium duffle. **No hard bottom travel bags. Normal daypack Max 50L. **Nothing strapped to the outside. Food boxes Liquor boxed, sized and labeled. Banana boxes are too large. Alcohol No glass. We recommend getting a keg from Begbie Brewery (contact below). Total gear weight limit: 45lbs/person this does not include skis, food. Total weight limit 45lbs/person.

CHALET AMENITIES Kitchen: Our kitchen is fully equipped with a propane range oven and 4 burner stove. We provide filters for coffee. There is a NEW (2016) large outdoor BBQ. Heat: We have a wood burning stove with a propane furnace backup. There is a separate dry room for all outdoor gear. Sauna: In a separate building from the Chalet, there is a 10-person wood burning dry sauna, as well as a heated change room and shower with stove-generated hot water. Water source: Walk-in water, delivered daily from adjacent creek. Food storage: We have an indoor storage room with shelving to accommodate cardboard food boxes and an outdoor metal storage bin for fridge/freezer items. There is an electric freezer provided during warmer temperature weeks. Sleeping quarters: There are dorm style and semi-private with single, double and queen beds. Mattress covers and pillow slips are provided. ** Bring your own mattress liner with sleeping bag. Lodge wear: Please bring your own outdoor indoor slippers and snow boots/booties. Caretaker: It s your party! We ve being doing this for decades, so we want to make sure you maximize your trip and experience. A caretaker will be at the Chalet through the duration of your trip, and whether they re making sure the sauna is ready for your return, that the Begbie keg is tapped properly, or gently suggesting that you should get down from dancing on the table, we are pretty sure that they will quickly turn into family. Our caretakers have local knowledge of the area and terrain but aren t there to tell you where you should go skiing. You came to ski with your buddies, so make your own decisions on where to go. They will supply you with the weather forecast and local avalanche bulletin, so why not have them join you for your group s dinner: the kitchen gets busy at night and it s a great way to connect at the end of the day. (They will supply their own breakfasts and lunches, cause who knows if you decide to start early or sleep-in late.) Have the caretaker join your party for dinner! GROUP SAFETY We supply: Weather forecast and local avalanche bulletin information. 4 - Programmed VHF radios to be used in each ski group. Private Blanket frequency and all emergency contact channels. 1 - Rescue tarp/emergency toboggan 1 Leg and arm split **We believe in setting our groups up for success. These are supplied. Self-Guided groups are required to carry all other emergency, avalanche and first aid equipment.

CMH HELI-SKIING The Chalet was built in 1983 by CMH Heli-Ski guide Reiner Glyker, after heli-skiing in the area and realizing its potential. The Blanket Chalet has a shared tenure with CMH Revelstoke, and although we share a lot of runs with heli-skiers, there are many areas that CMH does not ski. They no longer land on Castor peak, or pick up at the lake where the Chalet is located. All runs facing Greenbush Lake do not have helicopter pick-ups, and therefore, remain exclusive to Blanket Chalet touring groups. The area is CMH s poor weather and poor stability go-to. If they are skiing in the area, they have no other options for that day. We have an excellent relationship with the guiding team and operations at CMH. Every morning the caretaker at the Chalet updates CMH with current weather and conditions at the Chalet. In an attempt not to create any overlap with either party, both parties communicate their plans for the day. If CMH decides to ski in the area they will inform Blanket skiers of their intention at the soonest possible moment. At this time, Blanket skiers will inform CMH of their location and must stay clear of any helicopter landings and approach/take off aerospace. Realistically we re both heli-skiing! At the Blanket we just have a longer wait between pickups! ADDITIONAL RESOURCES ACCOMODATION: Swiss Chalet Motel - Traditionally where our guests stay.
