The golf management program at Humber laid the foundations for my career. Ten degrees on a common platform A common two-year business studies platform combines classic business training with practical hands-on experience that helps give students an opportunity to explore different pathways into the business world. ACCOUNTING This program prepares students for the demanding profession of accounting through the theoretical exploration of the underlying concepts and the development of applied skills. Areas of study include organizational behaviour, financial accounting, taxation, auditing, strategic management, statistics, and quantitative analysis. E-BUSINESS MARKETING This program provides students with the essential components of a traditional business degree, plus a broad selection of computer applications and advanced marketing techniques. Students learn the process of collaborating with business partners, servicing customers and conducting electronic transactions within an organization. HOSPITALITY & TOURISM MANAGEMENT Students focus on tourism concepts while learning business fundamentals. Courses in global geography, tourism marketing, e-tourism management and destination development prepare students to meet the demands of employers. Students also learn the strategic, technological, and managerial skills necessary for tourism success both in Canada and internationally. HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT This degree program grounds students in the fundamentals of HR, such as recruiting, training and development, compensation, and employment law. It meets the most current standards and academic requirements set by the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) and prepares students to write the national exams, obtain their CHRP designation and become Certified HR Professionals (fees apply). INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS Students learn to apply business fundamentals in an international context with courses that focus on marketing research, world geography, environmental ethics and cross-cultural communication. This degree prepares students for success either working for a Canadian company that does business abroad, or employment with a multinational company with overseas assignments. The broad array of skills take graduates from local to global. FASHION MANAGEMENT This program focuses on the business side of fashion and features a distinctive array of fashion management courses. Students are given the opportunity to develop solid business management skills necessary for a range of careers, including wholesale management, retail operations and import/export management. FINANCE This degree combines a core knowledge of business with the skills necessary for success in the world of finance. The curriculum consists of general business courses, specialized finance courses, and a strong breadth component. Learning emphasizes critical thinking, analytical skills, communications and leadership. Graduates will have the knowledge and skills to assume analyst positions in finance, financial services, planning, investment, risk management and insurance. MANAGEMENT STUDIES This degree aims to prepare graduates to take on a wide variety of management roles within domestic businesses. It also provides comprehensive coverage of traditional management functions, while giving students ten electives to customize their educational pathway. MARKETING This degree provides a solid and current understanding of the many facets of the marketing discipline. The Consumer as King is emphasized as students learn the importance of the sales industry in Canada, as well as the opportunities and challenges seen in today s distribution of distribution. SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT The supply chain is the entire network of companies that work together to design, produce, deliver and service products. It includes both goods and services. This program focuses on the broad range of skills required to manage this flow of activity. It emphasizes critical thinking, analytical skill, and communication. Students learn to evaluate external factors and trends and integrate them into strategic plans. Turn your Diploma into a Degree Graduates with an overall grade point average (GPA) of 70 per cent or more will be considered for admission to Humber s Bachelor of Commerce degree program. Graduates may then complete the degree program with the equivalent of four semesters of full-time study plus a paid work term. Graduates must also possess ENG4U or Humber s COMM 200/WRIT 100 or COMM 300/WRIT 200 with a grade of 70 per cent or more, plus any Grade 12 U-level Mathematics or Humber s BMAT 220/BMAT 120 Mathematics of Finance and BSTA 300/BSTA 200 Business Statistics with an average grade of 70 per cent or more. Qualified graduates of this program may also be eligible to apply their academic credits toward further study at many postsecondary institutions. 8 10 9
