Information for New Probationary Members of the Lenawee County Conservation League The probationary period consists of the first full year of membership or until your membership is due for renewal. YOUR REQUIREMENTS 1. The probationary member must attend at least one membership meeting. They are held on the first Monday of the month. (Check the calendar for changes). 2. You must perform a minimum of fifteen (15) hours of work for the club. This consists of work bees, archery booth events, events held at the club such as 3D shoot setup and break down, archery leagues, rifle leagues, pistol leagues, etc. 3. It is the responsibility of the probationary member to have your sheet signed by the chairperson or facilitator at the time of the worked hours. 4. The probationary member is responsible for maintaining the records of their work hours and meeting attendance during the first year. 5. The form must be submitted with your renewal in order to be considered a full member in good standing. 6. In order to renew membership, you must complete all of the 5 requirements. These requirements are designed to help get you acquainted with the club and its members. This also helps us get acquainted with you. ALL RANGE AND GROUND RULES ARE INCLUDED IN THE MEMBERSHIP PACKET & ARE ALSO ON THE WEBSITE.

EFFECTIVE JULY 1 st, 2009. BOARD APPROVED RULES FOR INDOOR FIREARMS RANGE USE. STARTING JULY 1 ST, 2009, THE USE OF THE INDOOR RANGE FOR HANDGUN PRACTICE IS LIMITED TO MEMBERS WHO HAVE COMPLETED A PISTOL QUALIFICATION COURSE. ONLY THE MEMBERSHIP HOLDER IS NEEDED TO MEET THESE CONDITIONS. THE MEMBERSHIP HOLDER IS THEN RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SAFE RANGE USE BY THEIR GUEST AND HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS. THE QUALIFICATION PROGRAM WILL CONSIST OF BOTH CLASS AND LIVE FIRE RANGE SESSIONS. RANGE RULES AND BASIC HANDGUN FUNDAMENTALS WILL BE COVERED. YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE A HANDGUN TO TAKE THE CLASS. MEMBERS MUST HOWEVER FURNISH THEIR OWN AMMUNITION AND ARE ENCOURAGED TO BRING THEIR OWN HANDGUNS AND APPROPRIATE AMMUNITION FOR THE LIVE FIRE RANGE SESSIONS. FOR MEMBERS WITHOUT HANDGUNS,.22 CALIBER HANDGUNS WILL BE AVAILABLE. MEMBERS USING THESE HANDGUNS MUST BRING.22 LONG RIFLE ROUND NOSE AMMUNITION.

General Ground Rules 1. Outdoor Range hours are 10:00AM to ½ hour before legal sunset. 2. Indoor Range hours are as posted in the rules for the specific building. 3. The Caretakers or the Board of Directors retain the right to refuse ground privileges. 4. You must be a member in good standing to use the grounds or ranges. 5. Members are asked to limit their number of guests to two (2) at any one time. Guests must pay the non-member range fees where required (i.e., indoor ranges). Host member is responsible for seeing that the non-member fees are paid and that the non-member follows all rules. 6. Smoking inside any building is not permitted. 7. Persons under the age of sixteen (16) must be accompanied by an adult member when on the grounds. 8. Persons under the age of eighteen (18) must be accompanied by an adult member when using any of the ranges. 9. Proof of membership (valid membership card) must be shown if requested by anyone using the facilities or grounds. 10. Be alert for other club members using the grounds. 11. Dogs must be under the immediate control of their owners at all times. 12. Fires are allowed in designated areas only. 13. Bicycles or motorized vehicles are NOT allowed off the drive or camping area with the exception of work vehicles and special exemptions by the Board of Directors. 14. Vehicle Parking is not to obstruct drives, marked fire lanes or access to dumpsters. 15. No alcoholic beverages may be consumed on club grounds. 16. Persons under the influence of intoxicating substances or substances which impair motor or mental coordination are not permitted on the grounds. 17. NO HUNTING allowed on club grounds. 18. Entry onto club grounds is by the Sutton Road drive only. 19. No unlawful activities are permitted on club grounds. 20. Smoking/open fires prohibited outdoors during posted fire ban. 21. Ranges may be closed for scheduled events as directed by the Board of Directors or by an event chairperson acting with Board of Directors approval. 22. Range and Ground rules shown may be modified with the approval of the Board of Directors for scheduled activities where a Designated Range Officer is appointed. 23. Violation of the rules will result in disciplinary action, up to and including a lifetime membership ban, by the Board of Directors. See attached Disciplinary Action Policy. 24. LCCL or its members are not responsible for accidents or injuries. Shooting is at your own risk.

Indoor Archery Range Rules 1. General range use permitted anytime except during scheduled events. 2. All shooting to be done from a common firing line. 3. No reckless handling or discharging of bows permitted. 4. No broadhead, blunts, or Judo points allowed on the indoor range at any time. 5. No crossbow shooting permitted on the indoor range 6. Check behind target bales and make sure that the south entry door is secured before shooting. 7. Put paper tuner against the wall when not in use. 8. No shooting past the marked 30 yard line. 9. When finished, turn off lights, radio and TV when done. Clean up after yourself! 10. All General Ground Rules Apply Lenawee County Conservation League Outdoor Archery Range Rules 1. No reckless handling or discharging of bows permitted. 2. Broadheads are not permitted on club ranges 3. Shoot at club provided backstops/targets only. 4. Do not litter and pick up trash when you find it. 5. No hanging over or sitting on the railing of the elevated platforms. 6. Only participants and workers are allowed on the archery range during a shoot. 7. Be aware of other people using club grounds. 8. All General Ground Rules apply

Indoor Pistol/Rifle Range Rules 1. Range hours are 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. 2. Sign in and sign out is mandatory. Fees to be deposited in fee cylinder. 3. Ear and eye protection required at all times. This includes all non-shooters inside the building while others are shooting. 4. All shooting to be done from a common firing line. Minimum firing distance to the target from the firing line is 25ft (half of total range distance) 5. No quick draw or hip shooting from a holster is permitted. 6. No reckless handling or discharging of firearms permitted. 7. Shooting positions #1 and #11 limited to.22 rimfire only, except during supervised events. 8. Window safety shutters to be closed during use of the range. 9. Check to be sure that the north outside entry door is locked before shooting, and the east interior door is closed. 10. Keep furnace and storage doors closed during shooting 11. All firearms to be pointed downrange at all times. Handling of uncased firearms behind the line of fire is not permitted. 12. Firearm muzzles are not permitted at any time to be pointed above the target in the area defined between target and the ceiling. 13. Firearms must be laid on the bench with the action open and chamber(s) unloaded with magazines removed or cylinders open whenever anyone is downrange or in the restrooms (red light on). Handling of uncased firearms while anyone is downrange is expressly forbidden! 14. Anytime any shooter or bystander calls CEASE FIRE, all shooting is to stop and all guns are to be unloaded and locked open until the situation is resolved. 15. Use only provided paper targets or targets made of paper approved by the Pistol/Event Chairman or the Board of Directors. Target size not to exceed 14 x 14. 16. No black powder/black powder substitute shooting indoors. 17. Unfired or misfired ammunition must be removed from club grounds. 18. No magnum cased ammo allowed including reloads (i.e.,.357,.41,.44 magnum, etc.). 19. Centerfire pistol ammo must be 1000 fps or less and use a bullet made of lead only without any copper jacket. Ammo with copper washed bullets is allowed (to test for copper wash, scrape the bullet with the mouth edge of an empty case. If the silver lead can be seen, then the bullets are acceptable for indoor use). It is not permitted to use jacketed hollow points, full metal jacketed or soft point bullets indoors. 20. Rimfire ammunition is limited to.22 shorts, longs or long rifle only. It is not permitted to use.22 magnum or.17 cal rimfire ammo. 21. No shot shells/multiple projectile loads allowed on the indoor range. 22. BB and pellet rifles are not permitted. 23. It is not permitted to use centerfire rifles or shotguns in the indoor range. 24. Turn off all lights and/or fans and return the shooting benches to the proper place when finished. Clean up spent cases and targets when finished. Brass to be put in containers provided in the back room for recycling. Be sure exterior door is locked when leaving. 25. All General Ground Rules apply

Outdoor Pistol Range Rules 1. Sign in and out is mandatory for all shooters and guests 2. Eye and hearing protection required by all persons beyond the parking area at all times. NO EXCEPTIONS! 3. All shooting to be done from the common firing line (concrete pad). 4. Only paper, cardboard or clay birds are approved targets. All targets must be placed on the backers provided and the target must not be over the wood supports. Clay birds can only be hung on the backers provided they are not placed in front of the wood supports or they can be placed on the earthen berm behind the 50 yd target stands. 5. Ground targets (swingers, cans or bottles made of any material) cannot be used. 6. Targets to be placed so that all bullets impact the 50 yd berm between 2 to 6 ft above the ground. 7. All uncased guns must have the action open anytime anyone is down range. Handling of guns while people are downrange is strictly forbidden! 8. Guns to be pointed downrange at the berm at all times. 9. Anytime any shooter or bystander calls CEASE FIRE, all shooting is to stop and all guns are to be unloaded and locked open until the situation is resolved. 10. No drawing and firing of holstered guns permitted. 11. No rapid fire, unaimed, shooting (known as spray and pray shooting) 12. Shotgun shot patterning is not allowed due to the excessive damage it causes to the target backers. Slug shooting is permitted. 13. Shooters are responsible for picking up brass centerfire cases and disposing them in the brass bucket on the post. 14. Trash, targets, steel, or aluminum, ammunition cases and shotshell cases to be put in the trash container provided 15. Unfired or misfired ammunition must be removed from club grounds. 16. Special Rule for the 10yd target backer: All shooting at the 10yd backer MUST be from the STANDING position in order to ensure bullets impact the 50 yd berm. NO BENCH SHOOTING PERMITTED AT 10 yds! 17. SHOOT AT TARGETS DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF YOU! No cross firing of targets permitted. 18. All General Ground Rules apply

100 & 200 YARD RIFLE RANGE RULES 1. No vehicles beyond the parking area barrier. 2. Sign in and sign out are mandatory for all shooters and guests 3. Eye and ear protection is mandatory for all shooters and guests 4. Targets must be paper or cardboard only. 5. When you are finished shooting, pick up all center-fire brass and discard in the brass bucket hung on the post. 6. Trash, targets, steel, or aluminum, ammunition cases and shotshell cases to be put in the trash container provided 7. There will be NO-UNAIMED-SPRAY OR SPRAY-RAPID FIRE on these ranges. 8. Targets to be hung on target backers provided. No portable target backers permitted. 9. The firing line is the common line on the raised firing line pad; between the right and left range limit marker poles. 10. All shooting will be from the common 100/200yd firing line. 11. All firearms fired at the 200yd range MUST be preliminary sighted in at 100yds before shooting at 200yds. 12. Only handguns suitable for long range shooting are permitted. 13. Prior to going down range the RANGE CLOSED SAFETY MARKER WILL BE RAISED. Only when ALL persons have returned from down range, can the safety marker be lowered. The range closed safety marker applies equally to both the 100yd and 200yd ranges. WHEN SAFETY MARKER IS RAISED, BOTH RANGES ARE CLOSED TO FIRING! HANDLING OF UNCASED FIREARMS WHILE ANYONE IS DOWNRANGE IS EXPRESSLY FORBIDDEN! 14. All General Ground Rules apply

Trap Range Rules 1. Ear and eye protection required at all times. This includes all non-shooters in the area while others are shooting. 2. No reckless handling or discharging of firearms permitted. 3. Firearms must be unloaded with the actions open and placed in the gun rack or another safe area whenever anyone is downrange or when ANYONE gives the command CEASE FIRE. 4. All firearms to be pointed downrange at all times. 5. Handling of uncased firearms behind the line of fire or when someone is downrange is not permitted other than to place them in the gun rack (ACTIONS TO BE OPEN ANYTIME THEY ARE UNCASED!). Hinge action shotguns may have the actions closed while in the gun rack provided they are unloaded. 6. Pick up all fired cases and trash when finished. 7. Unfired or misfired ammunition must be removed from club grounds. 8. Only shot sizes 7 ½ -8-9 shot allowed. Load to be limited to 3 Drams or less. 9. All General Ground Rules apply SPECIAL RULES FOR SPONSORED EVENTS: 1. Shooting hours are 10:00AM until a maximum of 10:00PM 2. When on the line, actions are to be open and the muzzle pointed down range. 3. You may load one (1) live round in the chamber but do not close the action until it is your turn to shoot. 4. When changing stations, ALL actions must be open and ALL firearms unloaded. SPECIAL RULES FOR INDIVIDUAL USE: 1. Hand thrown throwers may be used but must be set to throw in the same direction as the club thrower and ALL shots to be made within marked boundaries. 2. Range use is on the first come, first served basis. 3. The range must be used by two people. One must be 18 years old or older AND a member in good standing.
