Girls must wear a bathing suit that covers the stomach area. Boys must wear swim trunks and may wear a non-cotton swim shirt. Campers will be swim-tested at the beginning of every week, on Mondays, before they are permitted to swim. Campers who PASS the swim test will be given a PASS swim band. Children must keep the band on all week. Campers who DO NOT meet the swim test requirements will be given a NOT PASS swim band and will only be allowed to participate in water activities in a designated area and must wear a life jacket. Children must keep the band on all week. WE ASK THAT CAMPERS ENTERING GRADES K-1 ARRIVE AT CAMP IN THEIR SWIM ATTIRE AND BRING EXTRA CLOTHES TO CHANGE INTO AFTER. This helps the changing process and saves time so that they will not have to change twice. The head lifeguard will announce general swimming rules before each swimming period. We teach millions of children & adults to swim and be safe around the water each year. THE Y IS AMERICA S SWIM INSTRUCTOR NOT BECAUSE WE TEACH TECHNICAL SKILLS BUT BECAUSE WE REALIZE THAT SWIMMING AND WATER SAFETY PROGRAMS PROVIDE AN OPPORTUNITY TO TEACH MUCH MORE THAN THAT.
