Properly demonstrate the ability to perform a variety of dance techniques. 3. Recognize and use choreographic and improvisational tools to interpret and create movement. 4. Recognize important dance figures and identify their roles in dance history. 5. Demonstrate knowledge of the technical aspects of a dance production. 6. Demonstrate knowledge of dance terminology related to course content. 7. Demonstrate the ability to work with various styles of music and rhythmic forms. 8. Attend and critique a live dance or theatre performance. 9. Work cooperatively with peers in a productive manner. PERFORMANCE All students will be required to perform at the end of the second semester. If a performance is missed for any reason, students may make up the points by composing an 8-page, typed, doublespaced, 12-font paper on a topic assigned by Mrs. Also. A grade of INCOMPLETE will be assigned until the paper is turned in. Mrs. Also reserves the right to remove any students from any activity or dance production due to the concern she has for safety, success, and welfare for all of her students. SPRING CONCERT DATES Auditorium Rehearsal: Saturday, May 4 th (9:00 5:00) (classes will be assigned times) Tech Rehearsal Monday, May 6 th 3:00 6:30 (auditorium) Dress Rehearsal Tuesday, May 7 th 3:00 6:30 (auditorium) Spring Dance Concert: Wed., Thurs., Fri. (May, 8 th, 9 th, 10 th ) On the nights of the performances, students are to report to the auditorium by 6:00 to warm up. Parent volunteers are greatly appreciated and needed. A sign-up sheet will be sent home a couple of weeks before the concert date and any parent that helps out will receive a free ticket to any night s dance concert. FUNDRAISING All dance classes will be involved in at least 2 fundraising activities this year. Every student is expected to participate. The funds from these sales are used to purchase costumes and pay for expenses associated with the spring dance concert. Course: Advance Dance Office Hours: Monday Friday 2:40 3:30 COURSE DESCRIPTION This course is for students will exceptional skills and an ability to contribute to a performance troupe. Students will advance their studies of a variety of dance forms. Students will receive advanced instruction in technique, vocabulary and performance. Students will further enhance their appreciation of dance through participation, observation, and self-evaluation.
