He moved to Colorado after accepting a job offer at Babolat. After 2 years, he resumed his career as a certified tennis pro, and has been teaching and running various tennis programs ever since. Jamal s success in holding positions such as the Head Pro at The Point at Lakewood, Tennis Director at Bear Creek Tennis Club and Broomfield Tennis Club, and the Head Tennis Coach at Mullen HS and Broomfield HS, is a testament to his work ethic and ability enhance the level of all tennis players! Teaching for a total of 11 years now, this young, charismatic, renowned pro in the state of Colorado is Apex Tennis Center s new Head Tennis Pro. Devin Van Treeck Dwvt11@gmail.com 720.296.0058 Devin Van Treeck has been a Tennis Pro since 2011 and a certified member since 2013. He has worked at several tennis clubs around the Denver area as a Head Tennis Pro. Currently, he teaches at the Ken Caryl Community Center. Devin also coaches the Chatfield Boys Tennis Team and has worked with state champions and other high-performance juniors. Devin likes to focus on technique and body mechanics as well as mental toughness for tennis. He is a professional who is patient, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. ATC tennis players will learn, have fun, and become motivated with the environment Devin creates. Kim Greason Spenkim@hotmail.com 720.220.4233 Kim Greason returns to her home courts at the APEX. She was born in Colorado, growing up in Arvada playing tennis at the tennis center and later for Arvada West HS. Following high school Kim received a scholarship to play college tennis at the University of Northern Colorado where she held national rankings, and was named an All-American. She has been the head girls coach at Ralston Valley High School for 15 years and is a Certified teaching pro. She currently plays at the 5.0 and championship level and carries a national ranking in 40's singles and doubles. Kim feels her specialty is mental toughness and match strategy and enjoys fine tuning and tweaking technique for players of all levels and ages.
Scott Fong Sftennis6060@gmail.com 719.321.8343 Scott s competitive tennis career entails playing Varsity singles for 4 years at Cheyenne Mountain High School, and 4 years of college tennis at Chapman University. He currently plays at the 5.0 NTRP level. Scott started as a tennis instructor at Stars Tennis, 3D Tennis, and US Sports Nike Tennis Camps. Since then, he has been a Tennis Pro at The Broadmoor, and the Head Tennis Pro at Eastmoor Tennis Club. In 2016, Scott founded his own business called SF Tennis, where he has built successful tennis programs at various neighborhood courts. Scott brings a charismatic, high energy, and knowledgeable coaching philosophy to Apex. With many years of experience, Scott s teaching abilities can enhance anyone s game. Woody Oliver Wroliver7@gmail.com 303.829.8732 Woody has been coaching tennis for almost a decade and has been playing since he was 3. He played Varsity tennis at Heritage High School, helping his team place 3 rd in the 5A state championships. Woody turned down offers from Division II college tennis programs to pursue academics at CU-Boulder. He became a Tennis Pro at Bow Mar, where he worked with juniors, elite high school players, and seasoned adults. As Head Coach of D Evelyn High School, Woody led the girls program to their first 3A state championship, earning coach of the year honors. Woody is now a certified Tennis Pro and is excited to be a part of a great staff at Apex Tennis Center. Luke has been coaching high level juniors in Colorado for 8 years now and believes the role of a tennis coach is to strategically coordinate, direct, and manage the development process, while achieving the maximum satisfaction and performance of the individual player. Helping them achieve their goals in life, as well as in tennis, Luke develops each player differently according to their abilities and body types.
Andre Greene Andre.bronson.greene@gmail.com 720.987.3688 Andre has lived in Colorado his whole life and played Varsity singles at Chatfield Senior High. He played collegiate tennis at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. Andre has been a Tennis Pro at Ken Caryl Community Center, Pinehurst CC, and Cherry Hills CC. Andre s presence and overall demeanor is a testament to why he has become so successful in the Colorado tennis scene at such a young age. He has a way of connecting with all tennis players, making them better athletes and better people. Apex Tennis Center is lucky to have Andre. Gary Melillo Grmel@comcast.net 720.989.9086 PTR Gary is a PTR certified tennis instructor and has fifteen years of tennis teaching experience for the City of Boulder, Reston, Virginia Tennis Association, and Arvada Tennis Center. He is an Athletic Hall of Fame member and is recognized as an all-state athlete in New York and New Jersey. Following his Division I basketball career, Gary developed a passion for tennis. Over the past 30 years he has played on numerous competitive men s teams in Virginia, Southern California, and Colorado. In 2009 he won the T2 Tennis Denver City Championship. With a Master s degree in Human Resources Development, Gary thrives on coaching and teaching all age groups in both sports and business settings. He enjoys helping tennis players to improve their skill and knowledge, and his classes and drill sessions focus on skill development, fitness development, and fun. Daniel Lizarribar Ncblue317@yahoo.com 786.371.5144 Daniel was a nationally ranked Junior and held a top 50 ranking in Texas. Currently, he plays at the 5.0 NTRP level, winning many tournaments and qualifying for Regionals, Sectionals, and Nationals representing USTA Colorado. Daniel has experience coaching high level juniors and running drills and lessons for all age levels, including adults. As a top player in the state, Daniel is a perfect fit to the Apex Tennis Center. His positive vibe coupled with his ability to train high level athletes are essential qualities to grow tennis skills for tennis competitors. Jackson Johnstone jcksnjhnstn@gmail.com 720.666.1692 Jackson is a student at Ralston Valley High School and has played on the varsity tennis team for all four years. He began his tennis career playing at the Apex Tennis Center when he was 7. Jackson began coaching at the ATC in 2016 and has worked with players from ages 4 to 18. He employs a well-rounded approach to instruction, with a focus on properly developing the basics of a player s game. He is incredibly excited to be a part of the team at the new Apex Tennis Center and looks forward to motivating and teaching on and off the court.
Katie Herby Katie.Herby@gmail.com 720.347.5061 Katie Herby has been playing tennis since she was young and spent the last four years as a Varsity #1 singles player for the Broomfield High Eagles. She has competed in many USTA tournaments at both the local and regional level, earning state and sectional rankings. She has coached juniors of many levels at local camps as well as through private lessons. Katie is extremely excited to be a part of such a large and friendly tennis community and staff and can t wait to bring her passion for tennis to Arvada. Jack Vanderberg Jackvandy@icloud.com 720.480.6638 Jack has been playing tennis most of his life, playing in tournaments, and winning the state championship in JTT. He currently plays for and captains the Varsity Broomfield High School tennis team, helping them take 4 th at 5A state championships. Jack s philosophy to coaching entails having lots of fun with kids while staying productive and hard at work. Some of his favorite things to do are playing tennis and being a role model. So, he is grateful to have the opportunity of being a tennis instructor at the Apex Tennis Center. She was an all-conference high school Varsity tennis player and placed at state 3 out of her 4 years. Shelby has been teaching youth tennis for many years, all while graduating from Regis University, becoming an elementary school teacher, and receiving her Master s degree. Shelby is passionate about tennis, health, fitness, and academics. When she is not doing something active, she s probably at the beach. Shelby is great with kids and will bring a fun and knowledgeable vibe to their tennis experience. Erik Christoffersen Erikchristoffersen03@gmail.com 720.440.0337 Erik has been playing tennis since the early age of 9 and has loved the sport ever since he first stepped on a court. He has played in many high-level tournaments in the last 3-4 years, winning one and reaching several finals matches. Erik currently plays Varsity tennis at D'Evelyn High School and assists with coaching the Arvada West girls team. Erik has worked with juniors of all levels in tennis drills, camps, and match play. He brings a youthful energy to drills and looks forward to his role at Apex Tennis Center.
