Match Conditions Indiana State 4 H Shooting Sports Postal Match The purpose of this postal match is to offer all Indiana 4 H Shooting Sports members an opportunity to participate in a state competition. Eligibility: All participants must be a 4 H Shooting Sports member in the State of Indiana for the year in which the match is held. An individual may enter a match only once. However, an individual may enter multiple matches (i.e. Smallbore Rifle, Air Rifle, Smallbore Pistol, Air Pistol, or Muzzleloading). Firing Dates: Entry Closing Date: Firing may be done at any time provided entries are returned or postmarked by the entry closing date. Entries received after the entry closing date will not be scored. Entries may be made at any time provided targets with entry forms (one for each shooter) are returned or postmarked to the LaPorte County 4 H Shooting Sports by August 31, 2015. Targets / Entry Forms received or postmarked after August 31, 2015 will not be scored. 1. All firing must occur in the presence of a certified 4 H Shooting Sports Instructor or Coordinator, or 4 H Extension Educator who will act as a witness. The witness must sign the bottom of the target. 2. Divisions include: Beginner (grades 3 5); Intermediate (grades 6 8); and Advanced (grades 9 12). The grade level for each participant will be the grade completed in the spring of 2015. 3. Participants may only enter one set of Targets for each Match that they are competing in for scoring. 4. All Targets for the Match must be returned with an Entry Form and Entry Fees for each Match in which the Individual is competing. Incomplete Target sets or Targets received without an Entry Forms and/or Fees will not be scored. Participants must complete all parts for Each Match entered. Courses shall be followed as prescribed herein. 5. Coaching or Instruction of the Participant while shooting the Courses of Fire is not allowed. 6. The entire course of fire for each event must be completed during one shooting session. 7. Targets may be printed from the Facebook page and are to be placed at 50 feet, unless stated otherwise in the subset of rules for each event. 8. Shooting coats, trousers, or any other article of clothing that provides artificial support is prohibited, unless specifically allowed in a Match s Event s rules. General Match Rules 9. Slings, sand bags, or other such equipment to provide support while shooting is prohibited, unless specifically allowed in a Match s Event s rules. 10. Participants may practice prior to firing the official match, however the targets obtained during the official match must be mailed in. For example, the participant may not fire three different targets and choose to mail in the best of the three. 11. Scoring: Targets will be scored by certified 4 H Shooting Sports Instructors and / or certified 4 H Shooting Sports Coordinators from a county other than the county of the participant. Targets will be scored by division (beginner, intermediate, or advanced) and sighting systems (scope or metallic sights). Point values received for each shot will be as indicated on the target. Any shot breaking a line will receive the higher score. The center X ring will be used as a tie breaker on standard targets, if necessary. Extra shots on a target will remove the same number of highest scoring shots. (If a target is specified to receive five shots, and there are seven shots on the target, the two highest scoring shots will be ignored, and the five lowest scoring shots will be recorded). Silhouette Targets will be scored as described in the individual sections. Scores will be reported to the participant or the participant s 4 H Coordinator, Instructor, or Extension Educator listed on the Participant s Entry Form. 12. Air Pistol Match 1. Total Round Count (excluding sighting shots): 40; Maximum Time: 60.5 minutes 2. Individuals competing in the Air Pistol Match must compete in three different events: Air Pistol Slow Fire Bullseye; Air Pistol Silhouette, Air Pistol Timed Fire and Rapid Fire Event. 3. Participants must use the official Indiana 4 H Shooting Sports 2015 Postal Match Air Pistol Match Target Set, as posted on the Indiana 4 H Shooting Sports 2015 Postal Match Facebook page and at http://goo.gl/tschzp. Any other target(s) returned will not be scored. 4. Equipment: Any air pistol firing pellets not to exceed.177 caliber. Only open or hunting style peep sights (including an adjustable aperture) are allowed. Optical, electronic, target, and Olympic sights are not permitted. 5. Air Pistol Slow Fire Bullseye Event (Total Round Count: 10; Maximum Time: 10 Minutes) a. Course of Fire: Course is fired in the standing position. Beginning and Intermediate shooters (as determined by grade level) may use two hands; Advanced shooters may use only one hand. Participant will fire 10 shots with a 10 minute time limit. Total round count: 10 rounds. Time limit: 10 minutes. 6. Air Pistol Silhouette Event (Total Round Count: 20; Maximum Time: 50 Minutes) a. Course of Fire: Course of fire shall be fired in the standing position. Targets are placed at 20 feet. Participant will fire 1 shot at each of the following silhouettes: 4 chickens, 4 pigs, 6 turkeys, and 6 rams. Total round count: 20 rounds. Time limit: 50 minutes. one point). Air Pistol Timed Fire and Air Pistol Rapid Fire Event (Total Round Count: 10; Maximum Time: 30 seconds) a. Course of Fire: Course of fire shall be fired in the standing position. Beginning and Intermediate shooters (as determined by grade level) may use two hands; Advanced shooters may use only one hand. The course of fire includes two strings. String one (timed fire): 5 shots in 20 seconds fired on the Air Pistol Timed Fire Target. String two (rapid fire): 5 shots in 10 seconds fired on the Air Pistol Rapid Fire Target. Air Rifle Match 1. Total Round Count (excluding sighting shots): 45; Maximum Firing Time: 58 minutes 2. Individuals competing in the Air Rifle Match must compete in three different events: Air Rifle 3 position; Air Rifle Standing, and the Air Rifle Silhouette Event. 3. Participants must use the official Indiana 4 H Shooting Sports 2015 Postal Match Air Rifle Match Target Set, as posted on the Indiana 4 H Shooting Sports 2015 Postal Match Facebook page and at http://goo.gl/bwq0bs. Any other target(s) returned will not be scored. 4. Equipment: Any unaltered factory.177 caliber pneumatic, spring air, compressed air, or CO2 pellet rifle with a muzzle velocity of 600 fps or less. Rifles utilizing pre charged systems of any kind other than 12.0 gram disposable CO2 units are prohibited. Total weight of the rifle may not be more than 7.5 pounds. Thumb hole type stocks are prohibited. Any alteration or modification of external or internal parts is prohibited. Factory installed metallic sights shall be utilized telescopic sight systems, sights with corrective lenses, or light filters in the rear sights are not permitted. 5. Air Rifle 3 position Event (Total Round Count: 15; Maximum Time: 18 Minutes) a. Course of Fire: This course of fire includes three stages, with each stage fired on a separate target: i. Stage 1 Prone: 5 shots in the prone position with a 5 minute time limit on the Air Rifle 3 Position Prone target. ii. Stage 2 Standing: 5 shots in the standing position with an 8 minute time limit on the Air Rifle 3 Position Standing target. iii. Stage 3 Kneeling: 5 shots in the kneeling position with a 5 minute time limit on the Air Rifle 3 Position Kneeling target. 6. Air Rifle Standing Event (Total Round Count: 10; Maximum Time: 20 Minutes) a. Course of Fire: Participant will fire 10 shots in the standing position with a 20 minute time limit in the Air Rifle Standing target. 7. Air Rifle Silhouette Event (Total round count: 20 rounds. Maximum Time: 20 minutes) a. Course of Fire: Course of fire shall be fired in the standing position. Participant will fire 1 shot at each of the following silhouettes: 4 chickens, 4 pigs, 6 turkeys, and 6 rams. one point). All shots on the target will be added. Muzzleloading Rifle Match 1. Total Round Count (excluding sighting shots): 45; Maximum Firing Time: 130 minutes 2. Individuals competing in the Muzzleloading Rifle Match must compete in three different events: Muzzleloading Rifle Bullseye; Muzzleloading Rifle Bottle and Hunting Combination, and the Muzzleloading Rifle Silhouette Event. 3. Participants must use the official Indiana 4 H Shooting Sports 2015 Postal Match Muzzleloading Rifle Match Target Set, as posted on the Indiana 4 H Shooting Sports 2015 Postal Match Facebook page and at http://goo.gl/db460c. Any other target(s) returned will not be scored. 4. Equipment: Any flintlock, percussion, musket cap, or 209 primer type muzzleloading rifles,.54 caliber or smaller are be permitted. Metallic sights only. Peep / aperture sights are allowed. Telescopic (optical) sights or any type of electronic sights are prohibited. Clothing or accessories providing artificial support may not be used. Powder charges are limited to a maximum of 60 grains of Triple 7 or its volumetric equivalent. Metal jacketed sabots, solid metal, metal cored projectiles, or pure lead bullets / balls weighing more than 375 grains are not allowed. 5. Muzzleloading Rifle Bullseye Event (Total Round Count: 10; Maximum Time: 18 Minutes) a. Course of Fire: This course of fire includes three stages, with each stage fired on a separate target: b. Stage 1 Prone: 5 shots in the prone position with a 5 minute time limit on the Air Rifle 3 Position Prone target. c. Stage 2 Standing: 5 shots in the standing position with an 8 minute time limit on the Air Rifle 3 Position Standing target. d. Stage 3 Kneeling: 5 shots in the kneeling position with a 5 minute time limit on the Air Rifle 3 Position Kneeling target. 6. Muzzleloading Rifle Bottle and Hunting Event (Total Round Count: 10; Maximum Time: 40 Minutes) a. Course of Fire: Both courses of fire shall be fired in the standing position. Targets are placed at 25 feet. 5 shots are fired with a 20 minute time limit on each target (total time limit is 40 minutes for both targets). 7. Muzzleloading Rifle Silhouette Event (Total Round Count: 20; Maximum Time: 80 Minutes) a. Course of Fire: Couse of Fire will be shot using a standing position. Participant will fire 1 shot at each of the following silhouettes: 4 chickens, 4 pigs, 6 turkeys, and 6 rams. one point). All shots on the target will be added. Smallbore Pistol Match 1. Total Round Count (excluding sighting shots): 50; Maximum Firing Time: 56 minutes. 2. Individuals competing in the Smallbore Pistol Match must compete in three different events: Smallbore Pistol Bullseye; Smallbore Pistol Silhouette Event, and Smallbore Pistol 3 Stage Event. 3. Participants must use the official Indiana 4 H Shooting Sports 2015 Postal Match Smallbore Pistol Match Target Set, as posted on the Indiana 4 H Shooting Sports 2015 Postal Match Facebook page and at http://goo.gl/31fsni. Any other target(s) returned will not be scored. 4. Equipment: Any.22 caliber short, long, or long rifle, semi automatic handgun or revolver weighing not more than 5 pounds. Open sights only with a non adjustable front sight. Barrel length no longer than 12 inches measured from breech face to muzzle (revolver measurement does not include cylinder). Rear sight may be adjustable and must have an open u or rectangular notch. Must have trigger pull of at least 2 lbs. 5. Smallbore Pistol Bullseye Event (Total round count: 10 rounds, Maximum Time: 40 Minutes) a. Course is fired in the standing position. Beginning and Intermediate shooters (as determined by grade level) may use two hands; Advanced shooters may use only one hand. 6. Smallbore Pistol Silhouette Event (Total Round Count: 20; Maximum Time: 40 Minutes) a. Course of Fire: Couse of Fire will be shot using the standing position. Targets are placed at 20 feet. Participant will fire 1 shot at each of the following silhouettes: 4 chickens, 4 pigs, 6 turkeys, and 6 rams. Total round count: 20 rounds. Time limit: 40 minutes. one point). All shots on the targets will be added. Any extra shots on the paper (whether or not it s on the silhouette) 7. Smallbore Pistol 3 Stage Event (Total Round Count: 15; Maximum Time: 5.5 Minutes) a. Course of Fire: This course of fire includes three stages, all to be shot standing, with each stage fired on a separate target: b. Stage 1 Slow fire: 10 shots in a 5 minute time limit on the Smallbore Pistol Slow Fire target. c. Stage 2 Timed Fire: 5 shots in a 20 second time limit on the Smallbore Pistol Timed Fire target. d. Smallbore Rifle Match 1. Total Round Count (excluding sighting shots): 55; Maximum Firing Time: 54 minutes. 2. Individuals competing in the Smallbore Rifle Match must compete in three different events: Smallbore Rifle Silhouette; Smallbore Rifle Sporter Event, and Smallbore Rifle 3 position Event. 3. Participants must use the official Indiana 4 H Shooting Sports 2015 Postal Match Smallbore Rifle Match Target Set, as posted on the Indiana 4 H Shooting Sports 2015 Postal Match Facebook page and at http://goo.gl/gg1col. Any other target(s) returned will not be scored. 4. Equipment: Any.22 short, long, or long rifle (no magnums) rimfire cartridges, weighing a maximum of 7 ½ pounds, including sights. Stocks must be traditionally styled (stocks with a thumb hole are not allowed). Barrel may not be any longer than 30 inches. Hot load ammunition (i.e. stingers ) may not be used. 5. Smallbore Rifle Silhouette Event (Total Round Count: 20; Maximum Time: 20 Minutes) a. Course of Fire: Course of fire shall be fired in the standing position. Participant will fire 1 shot at each of the following silhouettes: 4 chickens, 4 pigs, 6 turkeys, and 6 rams. one point). All shots on the target will be added. Stage 1 Slow Fire: 10 shots with a 5 minute time limit on the Smallbore Rifle Slow Fire target. All loading and reloading must be performed during the timed portion of the stage. c.
