GENERAL RULES Applicability These General Rules will apply to all Ladies competitions unless it is stated otherwise in the rules for a particular competition. Ladies are entitled to play in any stroke competition on a day and at a time that their membership category allows. Ladies may enter match play competitions only if their membership category allows them to play on Saturdays, and/or Sundays. This does not apply to the American competitions. Categories of membership and details of playing restrictions are listed in the Bye Laws of Baberton Golf Club Ltd, Sections 3 and 4. 1.2 Specified Starting Times Under Rule 33-3, it is the responsibility of the Committee to establish starting times and so the time allocated by the Committee (Major Competitions - stroke play and Club Championships - match play) is deemed to be the player s specified starting time. All players must be on the first tee ready to play by their specified starting time. If the player is ready to play within 5 minutes after her starting time, the penalty will be loss of first hole in match play and two strokes at the first hole in stroke play. (Rule 6-3). If she is late by 5 minutes or more, she is disqualified. Only in exceptional circumstances, such as the player being present at the scene of an accident and providing medical assistance or being required to give a statement as a witness does the Committee (not a referee or an individual member of the Committee) have the power to waive the penalty of disqualification (Rules 6-3 and 33-7). If the player starts fewer than 5 minutes before her starting time she is penalised by loss of first hole in match play or two strokes at the first hole in stroke play. If she starts 5 minutes or earlier before it, she is disqualified. Other than that, neither the Committee nor an individual member of it has the power to waive any Rule of Golf. (Rule 33-1) If the start of play is delayed for any reason, then the players must be ready to play at the new (later) time which becomes the specified starting time. 1.3 CONGU (The Council of National Golf Unions) Handicaps Unless otherwise stated for a particular competition, players must hold a CONGU Competition Handicap to be eligible to enter any competition. If the competition status of a player s CONGU handicap is lost at the end of a calendar year, or if it is suspended for any reason, the player will be disqualified from continuing in or entering any competition until such times as a CONGU Competition Handicap is reinstated. Players who hold a CONGU Club Handicap may enter any competition stated to be open to them, subject to any maximum handicap laid down in the conditions of the competition. Players must hold a CONGU Competition Handicap, the maximum permitted by CONGU being 36, to enter any competition other than: The Summer and Winter American Competitions which are open to CONGU Handicap holders with, or without, competition status. The Flag Foursomes which is open to players who do not hold a CONGU handicap. 1.4 Start of Play Play must not start before 7 a.m. or while any notice prohibiting play or advising that the course is closed is displayed. 3

1.5 Competition Entry All competitors will be deemed to have entered the competition by accepting their scorecard from the Professional prior to commencing play. 1.6 Scorecards and Scores All competitors must sign their own card and the card they have marked. Competitors must enter their score in the computer and place their scorecard in the appropriate box in the Clubhouse. This includes no return cards. Failure to place their completed card in the appropriate box will result in the competitor being disqualified from the Competition. Rule 6-6b. Failure to enter scores or return cards on more than one occasion during a season may result in that player being excluded from the next competition. Players will be advised in writing before any such action is taken. 1.7 Playing Numbers 1.8 Play Play in stroke competitions will be in groups of two or three. All players in a group must play in the competition unless playing for handicap. In exceptional circumstances, a marker may be appointed to record a competitor s score. The marker may be a fellow competitor but need not necessarily be one. The marker may play with the competitor but need not necessarily do so. Any member holding a CONGU competition handicap may be appointed as a marker in these circumstances but the appointment can be made only by the Club Manager or his appointed Deputy, the Starter or his appointed Deputy, a member of the Rules or Competition & Handicap Committee or the Captain or Vice Captain of the Ladies Section. If no authorised person is immediately available to do so, the player may find a marker to accompany him or join with a group on a casual round with one of them acting as his marker. Stroke-play competitions will be held over 18 holes. The winner will be the player or team with the lowest gross or net score, as appropriate. 1.9 Course Unplayable If the course is deemed unplayable by authority of the Board (through the Competition, Handicap or Greens Convenor, the Professional or his deputy, the member of the Golf Committee on duty that day, the member of Greens Staff on duty or other person authorised by the Board) the competition will be re-arranged for another day or cancelled. 1.10 Tied Competitions Unless specified in the rules for a particular competition, in the event of a tie for the winner and subsequent places, these places will be decided in favour of the player/s with the lowest scratch or handicap score, as appropriate, for: the inward half, and if undecided for the last six holes, and if undecided for the last three holes, and if undecided for the last hole, and if undecided for the last twelve holes, and if undecided for the last fifteen holes, and if undecided 4

as decided by the Committee*. *Note: By Committee is meant the Ladies Council or other Committee in charge of a particular competition 1.11 Sweeps and 2s Competitors may enter the sweep and 2s and contribute to any nominated charity but are not obliged to do so. Junior girls will not be permitted to enter either sweep. 1.12 Competitions in which competitors play from different sets of tees In some competitions, competitors play from different sets of tees. Examples of such competitions may include: Junior competitions in which both boys and girls compete with the boys playing from a set of tees having a men s rating and the girls competing from a set of tees having a women s rating. Competitions open to men and women. Competitions open to men, women and juniors. Single sex competitions in which some players are required to, or may elect to, play from different sets of tees. In order to maintain equity in determining the prizewinners in these competitions, the Playing Handicap of some of the competitors may require to be adjusted to provide a Competition Handicap Allowance. All competitions in which competitors play from different sets of tees will be played in accordance with the rules set out by CONGU and currently defined in CONGU Unified Handicapping System 2016-2018 Appendix O. COMPETITION ENTRY SHEETS General All Thursday Medals, Sunday Medals and Competitions, and Major Competitions on any day have Pre-Draws. For competitions on other days, including Saturdays, with the exception of any Major Competition, ladies will book their own times through the normal Club booking system up to 7 days prior to the competition. Any player who has booked her own tee time to play in a competition must inform the Professional of her intention to compete before starting play. See also Section 1.7. Entry sheets will be available at the Professional Shop. In addition, except for Major competitions, entry may also be made through the normal club booking system. For Pre-Draws, ladies should enter their name on the entry sheet within her preferred starting time and within her handicap category, silver or bronze. The exception is for Stableford competitions where there is no segregation of handicap category. For Major competitions on any day there will be 3 draw times 9.30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 5.30 p.m. For other Sunday and Thursday competitions the pre draw times are 9.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. Early Spring and Autumn times may vary in the evening. For 9 Hole Qualifying Stableford and Club Stableford Competitions, entry will be through the normal Club booking system. Ladies will book their own times up to 7 days prior to the competition. 5

Entry forms for both the Summer & Winter Match Play Competitions will be available in the Professional Shop from the date intimated in the Fixture List. For any SLGA Medal or SLGA Alternative Day Medal (ADM) concurrent with a Major competition, ladies may still choose to play outwith the set draw times but will only be eligible to win the SLGA Medal and not the concurrent club Major competition. Entry Sheet Opening/Closing Draws The Entry Sheet for competitions where a draw will be made for starting times will be posted in the Professional s Shop 2 weeks prior to the Competition day and 3 weeks prior to it for Major Competitions and will close at 9.00 am 8 days preceding the day of the Competition. After the entry sheet for set draw times has closed, a waiting list will be created by the Professional for members wishing to play at the set draw times. Members on the waiting list will be entered if a space becomes available - see also Section 2.4. Members will be entitled to change a previously booked time provided that a time is available and that the change will not, in the judgement of the Professional/Starter, result in any advantage to the player or interfere adversely with the play of competitors who have already booked. Any such change must be made in advance of the competitor s specified start time and no change of time whatsoever will be permitted if a change of time is requested after the competitor s specified start time. Separate draws for Silver and Bronze Divisions will be made 8 days prior to the competition day. The Professional will hold the competition draw and a copy will be posted on the Notice Board in the Ladies Locker Room. The draw will be emailed to those Ladies who have provided their email address. The above is with the exception of Stableford Competitions where there will be no distinction between the Silver and Bronze divisions. Where there is an odd number of Silver Division players for a starting time, a Bronze Division player may make up the group. Reserve List After the Entry List for each competition listed in Section 2.2 has closed, the Professional will open a Reserve List for any member who would prefer to play at set draw times. Names of members applying to join the list will be added to the relevant Silver or Bronze Division Reserve List in chronological order of application, within their preferred time slot, and members will be admitted to the competition as withdrawals, if any, are received. Members will be required to make their own enquiries of the Professional whether they have been admitted to the competition by way of the Reserve List. Alternatively, for all competitions except Major competitions, a member may book her own time through the normal Club booking system indicating to the Professional her intention to compete before starting play. 2.5 Unavailability for Play and No Shows Ladies who have been allocated a time in a competition and who become unavailable for play must advise the Professional as soon as possible. Any member who fails to follow this procedure on more than one occasion may, unless a reason acceptable to the Ladies Council is given, be denied entry to the next competition. 6

Any future such failure may result in the member s handicap being suspended for a period of time in accordance with CONGU Clause 24.1(b). CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS Championship (Gold Medal), B Championship & Bronze Brooch Qualifying & Match Play Draws Handicap Limit For the Club Championship and B Championship there will be no handicap limit. For the Bronze Championship, only Ladies with a CONGU Competition Handicap between 21 and 36 inclusive will be eligible to qualify. It may be that a Bronze Division player qualifies for the Club or B Championship - see Section 3.8. Junior Members Any Junior Girl is eligible to enter, and qualify for either/any of the Ladies Club Championship competitions. Should she qualify for either/any of the Championships she will not be permitted to take any further part in the Junior Championship, even if she has qualified for it. A Junior member is eligible to enter the competition but prior to teeing off in the first qualifying competition for the Junior Club Championship or the Club Championships, whichever is first, she must state her intention of which competition she wishes to compete in should she qualify for both. Note: The reason for having to nominate the Championship in which a member wishes to compete prior to playing in the first qualifying round is to ensure that the situation does not arise whereby an individual qualifies for two Championships and thereafter decides in which Championship she wishes to compete. This policy exists in all Championships, Gents, Gents Seniors, Ladies and Juniors. Entry Sheet See paragraphs 2.2 and 2.5. Play The Championship qualifying competitions will be based on the best 2 gross scores out of 4 specified competitions. See also 3.7 below. Scorecards Competitors must enter their score in the computer and place their card, signed by the competitor and the marker, in the appropriate box in the Clubhouse after completing each round. This applies also to no-return cards. Tied Scores In the event of a tie, the winner will be the player with the lowest gross score for: the second counting score, and if undecided the lowest gross score, and if undecided the inward half of the second counting score, and if undecided the last six holes of the second counting score, and if undecided the last three holes of the second counting score, and if undecided the last hole of the second counting score, and if undecided the last twelve holes of the second counting score, and if undecided, the last fifteen holes of the second counting score, and if undecided as decided by the Committee. 7

Course Unplayable If the course is deemed unplayable during any of the qualifying rounds, and the competition is abandoned, the qualifying places will be decided over 1 round. The players with the 8 lowest gross scores will go forward to the match play stage. Should a player have completed more than 1 round their best gross score will count. If, in either case, a tie occurs, this will be decided in favour of the player or players (as appropriate) with the lowest gross score as detailed in Section 1.10. Match Play Stage It will be assumed that all players participating in the qualifying competitions will be available and will wish to play in the match play stages and so, if they qualify, they will be entered in the match play draw. If any player is not available to play on any day of the match play stages, or does not wish to be included in the match play draw, she must inform the Professional before she starts each round and must mark her cards NQ - Not Qualifying. The 8 competitors with the lowest 2 aggregate gross scores over 4 qualifying competitions will qualify for the Championship (Gold Medal) and will go forward to the match-play stage of the competition. The 8 competitors with the next lowest 2 aggregate gross scores over 4 qualifying competitions will qualify for the B Championship and will go forward to the match-play stages of the competition. Once the competitors for the Championship (Gold Medal) and the B Championship have been decided, the 8 competitors with the best 2 aggregate gross scores over 4 qualifying competitions with a handicap between 21 and 36 inclusive (at the commencement of the qualifying rounds) will qualify for the Bronze Brooch and will go forward to the match-play stage of that competition. In the event of a tie for places in the match play stage, these will be decided by the better 2 nd qualifying round, i.e. the 2 nd round score which counted for the purposes of qualifying, and if still tied, this will be decided in favour of the player with the lowest gross score over: the inward half of the 2 nd round score, and if undecided the last six holes of the 2 nd round score, and if undecided the last three holes of the 2 nd round score, and if undecided the last hole of the 2 nd round score, and if undecided the last twelve holes of the 2 nd round score, and if undecided the last fifteen holes of the 2 nd round score, and if undecided as decided by the Committee. Should the qualifying rounds be reduced to 1 round, in the event of a tie, 2 nd will be replaced by 1 st. Match Play Stage: Draw The draws for all Championships will be seeded on the basis that the competitor with the lowest aggregate gross score(s) plays the competitor with the 8th lowest aggregate gross score(s), the competitor with the second lowest score(s) plays the competitor with the 7th lowest score(s) and so on. In the event of a tie, the positions of competitors will be decided on the basis of the lowest scratch score for: the 2 nd round score the inward half of the 2 nd round score, and if undecided the last six holes of the 2 nd round score, and if undecided the last three holes of the 2 nd round score, and if undecided 8

the last hole of the 2 nd round score, and if undecided the last twelve holes of the 2 nd round score, and if undecided the last fifteen holes of the 2 nd round score, and if undecided as decided by the Committee Should the qualifying rounds be reduced to 1 round, in the event of a tie, 2 nd will be replaced by 1 st. Match Play Rounds Those qualifying for the match play rounds will play ties over 18 holes in accordance with the published draw. In the event of a match being all square after 18 holes then the match will go to sudden death over extra holes, commencing at the first. Course Unplayable Ties Incomplete If the course becomes unplayable during any round, the Committee will decide if play should be suspended. If play is suspended, the Committee will decide if play should be resumed the same day or if it should be resumed on another date. In either case, play will be resumed from the place at which play was suspended and all ties will be decided over the originally scheduled number of holes. McROBERT THISTLE CUP, SPRING, SUMMER AND AUTUMN MEETINGS (Major Competitions) Entry Sheets See Sections 2.2 and 2.4. Draw See Section 2.3 Withdrawal, Late Entries and Change of Specified Starting Times See Sections 2.2 and 2.5. SUMMER AND WINTER MATCH PLAY SINGLE & FOURSOMES COMPETITIONS Entry Forms and Fees The entry forms for the Match Play Singles & Foursomes competitions will be available in the Professional Shop from the date marked in the Fixture List. Entries must be accompanied by the appropriate Entry Fee which will be intimated on the Entry Sheet. Booking of Ties All club ties can be booked two weeks prior to the date of play. This is one week ahead of the normal booking time and can be arranged by phone, in person or by e-mail to either the office or the Pro shop. Handicap Allowances Handicap allowances will be: 9

Summer Singles: full difference Summer Foursomes: 1/2 combined difference Winter Foursomes: 3/8 combined difference. Draw If a player s handicap alters during the competition, the new handicap will be used. The draw will be made and posted on the Notice Board in the Ladies Locker Room within 10 days of entries closing. Dates of Play and Challenges The opening date of the first round will be the date on which the draw sheet is posted. The opening dates of subsequent rounds will be marked on the draw sheets as the closing date for the previous round. The player or team in each match whose name/s appears first (i.e. higher) on the draw sheet will be the challenger. Challengers must make their challenge within 8 days from the opening date of each round. The challenger/s must offer a minimum of 3 dates, at least one of which must be a Saturday or a Sunday and at least one of which must be a weekday with a minimum of 8 days between the first and last dates of the challenge. If none of the dates is suitable, the challenged player/s must offer the minimum of 3 alternative dates, at least one of which must be a Saturday or a Sunday and at least one of which must be a weekday with a minimum of 8 days between the first and last dates of the challenge. If none of these dates is suitable, the challenger/s (that is the originally challenged player/s) will proceed to the next round. If the challenge is not made within the 8 day period the unchallenged player/s must take on the role of challenger/s and will be in the same position as the original challenger/s. If no date can then be agreed for the tie to be played, the originally challenged player/s will proceed to the next round. If, as a result of an extension having been granted in the previous round, the challenger/s or the challenged player/s has not been decided, the 8 day period will be extended such that the 8 day period will commence on the day that the extended tie was played. Under these circumstances, the winner of the extended tie, if not the challenger/s in the next round, must immediately inform the challenger/s of the result of the extended tie. Members, both challenger and the challenged, must bear in mind that it is most desirable that ties are played and that only in exceptional circumstances should a tie be conceded because of non agreement on dates. Winners of each round will be responsible for entering their names on the draw sheet. If by the closing date of each round no name has been entered and no attempt has been made by either player to play the tie, they both risk, at the discretion of the competition committee, forfeiting the tie. 5.6 Tied Matches Matches which are all square after 18 holes will continue on a sudden death basis until a result is determined and strokes will be given where appropriate. 5.7 Extensions Extensions will be granted only in exceptional circumstances and can be authorised only by the Ladies Competitions Convenor, the Lady Captain or their respective deputies. Any request for an extension must be received as soon as possible. Requests received later than the round end date will not be granted. 10

6 INVITATION SHOTGUN GREENSOMES or FOURSOMES COMPETITION 6.1 Team Format The competition will be open to all members with playing rights on the day of the week on which the competition is played and will consist of teams of two, one member and one invited guest, who is not a member of Baberton Golf Club. Entry forms will be available in the Ladies Locker Room. 6.2 Handicaps At the discretion of the Organising Committee, persons holding a current EGA (European Golf Association) handicap may be permitted to play and compete. Because of differences in the operation of the EGA and CONGU handicap systems, an EGA exact handicap is not directly comparable to a CONGU exact handicap and the following formula should be used to determine the comparable exact handicap. Comparable exact handicap = EGA Exact Handicap x (slope rating of competitor s competition course/113). Example: EGA exact handicap is 12.4 and the slope rating is 127. The comparable exact handicap is therefore 12.4 x (127/113) = 13.9. 6.3 Handicap Allowance for Foursomes Format Each team will receive an allowance based on half of the combined handicap. 6.4 Handicap Allowance for Greensomes Format Each team will receive a handicap allowance based on the lower playing handicap x 0.6 plus the higher playing handicap x 0.4. If the playing handicaps of the partners are equal, half the combined handicap will be allowed. 6.5 Play for Foursomes Format One member of the team will drive off at all the odd holes with their partner driving at the even holes. The partner will then play the second shot and alternate shots will be played until the ball is holed out. Each team will record the gross score for each hole. The winning team will be the team with the lowest net score (gross score less handicap allowance). 6.6 Play for Greensomes Format Both team members will drive. They will select which ball to use and the partner of the player whose ball was chosen will play the second shot and then alternately until the ball is holed out. Each team will record the gross score for each hole. The winning team will be the team with the lowest net score (gross score less handicap allowance). 6.6.1 Tee shot out of bounds - Tee shot not found within 5 minutes: If a player s tee shot is out of bounds or not found within 5 minutes and her partner s ball is in play, the side must continue with the ball in play, the next stroke being played by the partner of the player who played the first stroke at it. If both players balls are out of bounds or not found within 5 minutes, the side must select one partner to play from where the tee shot was played under penalty of one stroke (27-1). In mixed greensomes, if selected to play, the man must play from the ladies tee and the lady from the men s tee. 11

6.6.2 Provisional Ball for Tee Shot: A provisional ball may only be played if the tee shots of both partners may be lost outside a water hazard or be out of bounds. The side must select a partner to play the provisional ball. In mixed greensomes, if selected to play, the man must play from the ladies tee and the lady if selected, from the men s tee. If one original ball is not found within 5 minutes or is out of bounds and the other tee shot is in play, the side must continue with the ball in play, the next stroke being played by the partner of the player who made the first stroke at it. If both balls are out of bounds or not found within 5 minutes, the side will continue with the provisional ball, the next stroke being played by the partner of the player who made the first stroke at it. 6.7 Competition Abandoned In the event of the competition being abandoned for whatever reason, the following rules will apply: If less than 75% of the score cards, including No Returns, have been returned as at the time the competition was abandoned, the competition will be re-scheduled. If 75% or more of the cards, including No Returns, have been returned, the competition will not be re-scheduled and the competition results will be based on the completed score cards which have been returned as at the time the competition was abandoned. 6.8 Prizes Vouchers will be awarded to the prizewinners or alternative prizes at the discretion of the Ladies' Council. 7 FLAG FOURSOMES COMPETITION 7.1 Entry Sheet This competition will be open to all categories of playing members and the entry sheet will be posted on the Notice Board in the Ladies Locker Room. 7.2 Team Format Teams of 2 will be drawn. 7.3 Handicap Allowances 7.4 Play Each team will receive an allowance based on 3/8ths of the combined handicap and this will be added to the par of the course. Where a player does not have a CONGU handicap, for the purpose of this competition, the maximum allowance of 36 will be allocated. One member of the team will drive off at all the odd holes with their partner driving at the even holes. The partner will then play the second shot and alternate shots will be played until the ball is holed out. This will continue around the course until the partnership has used their handicap allowance that is par of the course plus 3/8th of their combined handicap. A flag is carried by the first group on the tee The flag is left where the team which goes furthest round the course having used its stroke allowance If a following team reaches the flag before using its stroke allowance it should take the flag with it and leave it at the point at which it has used its stroke allowance. 12

7.5 Prizes Sweep money will be awarded to the team which takes the flag furthest round the course. Other prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the Captain of the Ladies Section. In the event of a tie the sweep money will be shared. TEXAS SCRAMBLE COMPETITION Entry Sheet The entry sheet will be posted in the Professional Shop. Team Format Teams of 3 will be drawn. One player from the Silver Division, one player from the Bronze Division with a handicap between 21 and 28 inclusive and one player from the Bronze Division with a handicap between 29 and 36 inclusive. Handicap Allowances The handicap allowance for each team will be 1/10th of the combined handicaps. Play All team members will drive and the team will select one of the drives. The player whose ball is selected will mark the position of her ball and play the ball. The other team members will play their balls in turn from a position within 6 inches (15 cm.) of the marker, but not nearer the hole. Balls must be placed on the fairway but must be dropped if in the rough, or in a bunker. Play will continue in the same manner until a ball is holed out. A minimum of five tee shots per player must be used. Each team will record a single gross score for each hole. The winning team will be the team with the lowest net score after applying the exact 10% handicap allowance Tied Scores See Section 1.10 after allocating an appropriate proportion of the exact 10% handicap allowance in each case. 8.6 Scorecards 8.7 Prizes The scorecard of each team must bear the signatures of two members of the team. Sweep money will be awarded to the Team with the lowest net score. In the event of a tie the prize will be shared. 9 CENTENARY MEDAL COMPETITIONS 9.1 Entry Form The entry form for the Centenary Medals will be included with the entry form for Summer Match Play Competitions. Only individuals who return the entry form and fee will be eligible to participate. 13

9.2 Play At the beginning of the season the Lady Captain/Council will select 6 competitions to be designated as Centenary Medals. These will run in conjunction with the prearranged competition. Points will be awarded as per the undernoted table. In addition, a bonus point is awarded for each stroke by which a player s net score beats the Standard Scratch Score. The player with the highest points total will win the Centenary Salver. Prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. In the event of a tie, the result will be decided on the basis of the highest points score for: 3 rounds, and if undecided 2 rounds, and if undecided 1 round 10 ECLECTIC COMPETITION 10.1 Entry Form The entry form for the Eclectic Competition will be included with the entry form for Summer Match Play Competitions available in the Professional shop from the date intimated in the Fixture List. Only individuals who return the entry form and fee will be eligible to participate. The Professional should be advised and cards marked with an E before commencing play. Play A maximum of 9 cards throughout the season will count. The best gross score at each hole will be recorded and finally 3/4 of the player s handicap will be deducted from the total gross eclectic score. The Ladies Council will determine and publicise at the start of the season competitions that will count for the Eclectic Competition. 14

10.2 Prizes Prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. In event of a tie the prize will be shared. 11 BIRDIE COMPETITION 11.1 Entry Sheet 11.2 Play 11.3 Prizes All categories of member are automatically entered into the Birdie Competition. Points are awarded to both Silver and Bronze Divisions for gross birdies as per the undernoted table. Double points will be awarded for gross Eagles. Division Handicap Points Silver 1-10 1 11-20 2 Bronze 21-28 2 29-36 4 A Birdie Trophy will be awarded to the winner in both the Silver and Bronze divisions. In the event of a tie, trophies and vouchers will be shared. 12 SUMMER/WINTER AMERICAN COMPETITIONS 12.1 Entry Form The entry form for the Summer and Winter American competitions will be available in the Professional Shop from the date marked in the Fixture List. The Summer Competition will be a singles round robin format over 18 holes and the Winter Competition will be a foursomes round robin format over 9 holes. 12.2 Handicaps and Handicap Allowances 12.3 Play Players who hold a CONGU Handicap, with or without competition status, are eligible to enter. In the Summer competition, the handicap allowance will be the full difference between the handicaps of the players and in the Winter competition the allowance will be 3/8 difference between the aggregate handicaps of each side. A draw will be made in leagues and each player/team will play all players/teams within their league gaining 2 points for a win, 1 point for a half and 0 points for a loss. 12.4 Substitutes Substitutions will be allowed up to the commencement of play of the first tie of the partnership involved. Such changes will be allowed only for illness or injury or for any other exceptional circumstance at the discretion of the Competitions and Handicap Committee. Any substitutions will not be permitted to impact upon the date by which the tie must be played. 15

12.5 Prizes Vouchers will be awarded to the winner in each section. In the event of a tie, the voucher will be shared. 13 SENIOR LADIES TROPHY (65 or over) 13.1 Play 13.2 Prizes This competition will be played over the Spring, Summer and Autumn meetings and is open to all categories of member aged 65 or over on the date of the Spring Meeting. The Senior Ladies Trophy will be awarded to the player with the 2 lowest aggregate net scores in the Spring, Summer and Autumn meetings. In the event of a tie, the result will be decided on the basis of the lowest net score and should that be the same, the best net score to CSS on the day. In the event of a further tie the best back 9 of the best net score to CSS on the day. 14 GOLD BROOCH 14.1 Play This competition will be played over the Spring, Summer and Autumn Meetings. 14.2 Prizes The Gold Brooch will be awarded to the player with the lowest aggregate gross score in the Spring, Summer and Autumn meetings. In the event of a tie, the result will be decided on the basis of the lowest overall gross score and if undecided: the inward half of the overall lowest gross score, and if undecided the last six holes of the overall lowest gross score, and if undecided the last three holes of the overall lowest gross score, and if undecided the last hole, of the overall lowest gross score 15 PAT WALLACE TROPHY 15.1 Play 15.2 Prizes This competition is open to all members in the Bronze Division category at the start of the season and will be played over the Spring, Summer and Autumn Meetings. The Pat Wallace Trophy will be awarded to the player with the 2 lowest aggregate gross scores in the Spring, Summer and Autumn meetings. In the event of a tie, the result will be decided on the basis of the lowest gross score. 16. SGL WOMEN S MEDALS 16.1 Play This competition will be played for in the SGL Women s Medals. 16

16.2 Prizes The SGL Women s Medal will be awarded to the player with the lowest aggregate of 4 net scores in the SGL Women s Medals played throughout the season. A separate medal is awarded for the Silver and Bronze Divisions. If two or more players tie, the winner will be decided on the net score of the last 9, 6, 3 or 1 hole(s) of the four cards added together. If still a tie, decision will be a play-off over 18 holes on current playing handicap. Should a play-off be logistically impossible (e.g. course closures over the winter) a count-back using the front holes should be used. The annual winners of the Silver and Bronze Medals are eligible to compete in the following year s Medal Finals organised at regional venues by SGL. Scottish Golf Women's Medal Rules and Regulations 1c, 1d, 1e, 1f and 13 apply. 17. THE COMRIE SPOONS 17.1 Play 17.2 Prizes This competition will be played throughout the season. The Comrie Spoons will be awarded to the player with the lowest net score in an 18 hole stroke play qualifying competition throughout the season, excluding the Spring, Summer and Autumn meetings. 17.3 Tied Scores See Section 1.10 18. QUEENIE S QUAICH 18.1 Play 18.2 Prizes This competition is open to all categories of member aged 60 or over on the date of the competition and will be played for in the Summer Meeting. The Queenie s Quaich will be awarded to the player with the lowest net score in the Summer Meeting. 18.3 Tied Scores See Section 1.10 19. PAT KERR TROPHY 19.1 Play This competition will be played for in the June Medal. 17

19.2 Prizes The Pat Kerr Trophy will be awarded to the player with the lowest net score in the June Medal. 19.3 Tied Scores See Section 1.10 20. GRANNIES CUP 20.1 Play 20.2 Prizes This competition is open to all categories of member with a grandchild or step grandchild. The Grannies Cup will be awarded to the player with the lowest net score in a selected Medal. In the event of a tie, the result will be decided on the basis of lowest net score for: 20.3 Tied Scores See Section 1.10 21. TAPPIT HEN 21.1 Play This competition will be played in a stableford format. 21.2 Prizes The Tappit Hen Cup will be awarded to the player with the highest points total in a selected Medal. 21.3 Tied Scores See Section 1.10 22. JUBILEE CUP AND CONSOLATION TROPHY 22.1 Play 22.2 Prizes The Jubilee Cup is open to all players who have won an 18 hole stroke play qualifying competition in the previous year. The Consolation Trophy is open to all players not eligible for the Jubilee Cup. The Jubilee Cup is awarded to the player with the lowest net score. The Consolation Trophy is awarded to the player, not eligible for the Jubilee Cup, with the lowest net score. 18

23. DUNEDIN TROPHY 23.1 Play 23.2 Prizes This competition is a stroke play competition open to members whose category of membership allows them to play on a Sunday. It is to be played on a Sunday after 1 st May or as near as possible to the first Sunday in May subject to the Board s discretion. The Dunedin Trophy will be awarded to the player with the lowest net score. 23.3 Tied Scores See Section 1.10 24. BERT KERR TROPHY 24.1 Play This competition is open to all Junior Members playing in stroke-play competitions. As defined in the Bye Laws, Junior Membership comprises Juvenile, Minor and Junior Members who have not reached their 18 th birthday by 31 st December. All scores achieved in stroke-play competitions during the season, including Club Championship Qualifying, Major Competitions and Alternative Day Medals will be eligible when deciding the winner of the trophy. 24.2 Handicaps 24.3 Winner The provisions of Section 1.3 regarding CONGU Handicaps apply. The winner of the Bert Kerr Trophy will be the player returning the card with the best net score differential against the CSS. 24.4 Tied Scores Example: In a competition in May, Player 1 has a net 65 against a CSS of 72: net differential = -7. In a competition in July, Player 2 has a net 66 against a CSS of 74: net differential = -8. Player 2 therefore has the better net score differential against CSS. In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided in accordance with Section 1.10. 25. LADIES OPEN COMPETITION 25.1 Handicaps At the discretion of the Organising Committee, persons holding a current EGA (European Golf Association) handicap may be permitted to play and compete. 19

25.2 Format 25.3 Prizes Because of differences in the operation of the EGA and CONGU handicap systems, an EGA exact handicap is not directly comparable to a CONGU exact handicap and the following formula should be used to determine the comparable exact handicap. Comparable exact handicap = EGA Exact Handicap x (slope rating of competitor s competition course/113). Example If the EGA exact handicap is 12.4 and the slope rating is 127, the comparable exact handicap is 12.4 x (127/113) = 13.9. The format of this competition is at the discretion of the Ladies Council. The winner will be the player/team returning the lowest net score. 25.4 Tied Scores See Section 1.10 Additional prizes will be awarded to the players/teams returning the next 4 best net scores. There will also be prizes for the players/teams returning the lowest gross score and the second lowest gross score. The value of these prizes will be lower than the value of the winning prize. Other additional prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the Ladies' Council. Vouchers will be awarded to the prizewinners but no prizewinner will be awarded more than one voucher. 25.5 Competition Abandoned In the event of the competition being abandoned for whatever reason, the following rules will apply: If less than 75% of the score cards, including No Returns, have been returned as at the time the competition was abandoned, the competition will be re-scheduled. If 75% or more of the cards, including No Returns, have been returned, the competition will not be re-scheduled and the competition results will be based on the completed score cards which have been returned as at the time the competition was abandoned. 26. ALTERNATIVE DAY MEDALS Players are allowed to play ties and friendly matches on Alternative Day Medal days. In terms of Rule 7-1b, a player who is competing on the second of the competition days may play on the course on the first competition day. Hole and teeing grounds may be positioned differently on each day of the competition, but on any one day, holes and teeing grounds will be in the same position for all competitors. 20

27. 9 HOLE STABLEFORD QUALIFYING COMPETITIONS The CONGU Unified Handicapping System allows for 9 hole competitions to qualify for handicap purposes. There are some limitations and special rules but these competitions enable members who, for whatever reason, feel unable to play 18 holes, to retain a CONGU Competition Handicap. Full details of the CONGU rules relating to 9 hole competitions can be found on pages 47 and 48 of the CONGU UHS 2016 2018 book, a copy of which is available beside the computer on the 1 st Floor lobby and in the Ladies Locker Room. These are CONGU Rules with which players must abide, not Baberton Golf Club Rules. 28. CLUB COMPETITIONS OPEN TO LADIES AND GENTS These competitions (such as, but not limited to, Club Stableford, Club Greensomes and Club Texas Scramble) are open to all members, Gents, Juniors and Ladies who hold a CONGU competition handicap. In competitions where gents play off the medal (white) tees, ladies will play off the red tees and where gents play off the yellow tees, ladies will play off the blue tees. In both cases, ladies will have their handicap increased by 2 strokes to compensate for the difference in their respective Standard Scratch Scores. 29. SUSPENSION OF PLAY 29.1 Decision to Suspend Play The decision to suspend play will lie with the Club Professional/Starter or his assistant, the Club Manager, preferably, but not necessarily, after consultation with a member of the Board, a member of the Greens Staff or a member of the Competition & Handicap Committee or other appropriate Committee. If play has to be suspended, the siren will be sounded and players must follow the procedures laid down in the Rules of Golf - Rule 6-8. 29.2 Suspension of play Siren Notes The meanings of the three notes of the siren are: three consecutive notes of the siren, repeated Play must be discontinued one prolonged note of the siren Play must be discontinued immediately two short notes of the siren, repeated Resume play 29.3 Appropriate Rules of Golf 6-8 Discontinuance of Play; Resumption of Play 6-8b Procedure When Play Suspended by Committee 29.4 Handicap Adjustment In accordance with CONGU regulations 17 and 18, if a qualifying competition is abandoned for any valid reason, the CSS will be regarded as the same as the SSS and handicap reductions will apply to all completed scores. Handicap increases will not apply. 21

30. GOLF BUGGIES (INCLUDING PRIVATELY OWNED RIDE ON CARTS) The use of ride-on buggies is generally prohibited in competitions. Players should walk at all times unless permission to use a ride-on buggy has been given by the Chairman of the Competition & Handicap Committee or his Deputy, whom failing the Club Manager or his Deputy. This permission will be given only in exceptional circumstances, usually because of a temporary medical condition, and application to use a ride-on buggy in competitions must be made to the Competition & Handicap Committee. Any such permission will be granted only for a specific length of time and may be rescinded by the Competition & Handicap Committee at any time. At the end of the period for which permission to use a ride-on buggy in competitions has been granted, the member may apply again for permission to use a ride-on buggy. In these circumstances, knowledge of the member making the request is sufficient for such permission to be granted, a medical certificate not being necessary. An application to use a ride-on buggy by a person who is disabled within the meaning of current Disability Discrimination Legislation must be made by that person and must be supported by a current medical certificate signed by a registered medical practitioner certifying that she is a disabled person within the meaning of the legislation and by reason thereof is unable to play golf without the use of a ride-on buggy. In the case of non-members playing in Club Competitions, such as Visitors Days, Open Competitions and the like, whether or not they are CONGU qualifying competitions, a current medical certificate signed by a registered medical practitioner is required and must be shown to a member of the Organising Committee of that Competition prior to play. The Club reserves the right at any time, for safety or other reasons, not to allow ride-on buggies on the course on a specific day. Before granting permission to use a ride-on buggy, the member or visitor must sign the Club s Golf Buggy Safety Policy Acknowledgement Form and must agree at all times to abide by all the Club s regulations relating to the use of ride-on buggies. In all cases, only the person authorised to use a buggy and only that person s clubs may be carried in the buggy. If any other person is carried in the buggy at any time during the competition, then that person will be disqualified from the competition. If any other person s clubs are carried in the buggy at any time during the competition, then that person will be disqualified from the competition. 22
