May, 2015, 4 FROM THE BOARD: Another busy season is coming to a close. Thank you to all the volunteers, fundraisers, coaches, program assistants, parents, and of course the skaters for helping coordinate a great season! Our Awards Night will be held May 3 rd at 5:30pm at the Elks Hall. Skaters and children under 6 are free. Tickets are $25/person. Please arrange pickup of tickets ASAP. Theme is CARNIVAL. Have fun dressing up! Our AGM will be May 11 th at 7pm in the Ainsworth Room at the CocaCola Centre. Please plan to attend. We have many board positions open and are eager to have fresh faces and ideas for next season! Thank you to Chantal Dyrkach for being our acting President for the past season, and we wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors! Please note: in our continuing efforts to cut costs and avoid more fee increases, the club no longer has an office phone number. Please contact the club, or any board member, by email. Fundraising Events Thank you to those who participated in our Bottle Drive in April! For a few hours of work, you raised $2567!! Thank you again for your contributions and efforts to help the club be successful! Our final fundraiser this year is a raffle. Ticket books can be picked up at the office. The draw will be June 19 th. There is a cash prize of UP TO $5000!

February/March, 2015 Call for Nominations: Grande Prairie Skating Club Board of Directors To all Club Members: Are you interested in becoming more involved in the Club? This is your opportunity. The Nominating Committee is currently seeking candidates for the Grande Prairie Skating Club Board of Directors. We are currently accepting nominations for the 4 (four) Directors- at- large, Treasurer and Vice President. If you are interested in submitting a nomination, please complete the attached nomination form no later than May 8 th, 2015 and return it to the club by email (gpsc@telus.net) or drop it off at the Club office. Original copy of all nomination forms must be submitted by the commencement of the Annual General Meeting on May 11 th, 2015. The criteria for Board membership is: 1. An individual shall: a. Be a member in good standing of the Grande Prairie Skating Club b. Be 18 years of age or older c. Have been a Club member for at least one year d. Understand the leadership requirements and qualities of the Board e. Support the goals of the Grande Prairie Skating Club f. Be willing and able to undertake the work of the Board 2. It is intended that the Board be representational, in as much as possible, of the diversity of the Club in terms of program involvement, gender and age. 3. No more than one member of family, care- giving unit, etc. shall be eligible for a position on the Board at one time. 4. No coach, staff member of individual related in any way to such individuals shall be eligible for election or appointment to the board. The only exception shall be the Coaching Representative that is identified in the by- laws. What is the commitment? Attendance at the 12 board meetings per year (evenings), attendance at the Annual General Meeting and committee work. In the coming year the vacant committee are fundraising, registration, Can skate and Primary liaison. Treasure and Vice President are also vacant. Training will be provided for each position. As well, you will have the opportunity to be one of the most vocal and involved club cheerleaders!
