Effect is a result of the cause. Read the passage carefully. Susan groaned in pain as she lay in bed with a fractured ankle. She stared at the ceiling and shuddered as images from the accident filled her mind. It had been a normal day after school. Susan was chatting with her best friend Jess as they walked out of the school gate. Suddenly, something hit Susan and she fell. When she looked around her, she saw a boy lying on the ground, with an overturned skateboard next to him. When she finally recovered from her shock, Susan felt a sharp pain on her left ankle. Dismayed, she realised that she had hurt her ankle when the skateboarder crashed onto her.

Write T (for True) or F (for False) next to each cause or effect. Effect Cause T/F 1. Susan groaned in pain. She was chatting with her best friend. She has fractured her ankle. Read the passage carefully. Everyone thought that Meng was crazy. He has a special liking for cockroaches! Whenever he sees a cockroach, he gets all excited and will catch it so that he can hold the cockroach in his hands. At home, Meng has boxes filled with cockroaches, both dead and alive. His parents have tried ways and means to stop his weird hobby of collecting cockroaches. Once, they even locked him out of the house and told him to get rid of his cockroach collections before they would let him enter. However, Meng would rather sleep at the corridor than throw his cockroaches away. His parents finally gave up and let Meng keep his cockroaches. When their neighbours heard that, they gave Meng a nickname and called him Cockroach Meng. Answer the following questions. Write the correct cause or effect from the passage. 1. Why did everyone think that Meng was crazy? 2. What would make Meng excited?
