Quick Response Pneupac VR1 Emergency Ventilator AIRWAYMANAGEMENT

Responding to your needs One of the best selling resuscitators... Smiths Medical is bringing you the next generation of emergency ventilators. The Pneupac range of emergency and transport ventilators are renowned throughout the world for quality and robustness. The Pneupac VR1 combines the key characteristics of the Pneupac ventilators into a small, lightweight, and highly deployable emergency ventilator. In 1974 the Pneupac 2R ventilator was launched into the pre-hospital market and was one of the first units specifically designed for emergency ventilation. Through meeting the requirements of the emergency services, the Pneupac 2R quickly became a market leader in numerous countries and maintained this position for many years. The new Pneupac VR1 is smaller and lighter than the Pneupac 2R model. The Pneupac VR1 has been designed as a first response ventilator for emergency personnel in the ambulance, fire and police services and also for use in industrial and commercial markets. The nature of the environment in which first responders have to operate in requires the product to work in demanding conditions. The key attributes of the Pneupac VR1 are: SIMPLICITY PORTABILITY SAFETY ROBUSTNESS

...just got smaller. Smiths Medical offers market-leading solutions in two major areas; Anaesthesia & Safety Devices and Medication Delivery & Patient Monitoring. These two areas encompass airway management, pain management, needle protection, arterial blood sampling, temperature management, critical care monitoring, hospital and ambulatory infusion, vascular access, surgical drainage and insulin infusion. To compliment the Pneupac VR1 a range of high quality Portex emergency medicine products are available including the Portex Cricothyroidotomy Kit (PCK) and BCI Patient Monitors. In addition carry cases have been specifically developed to hold the Pneupac VR1, oxygen cylinder and disposable airway devices.

The Pneupac VR1. Simple, Safe, Portable and Robust Tidal Volume/Frequency Control Auto/Manual Control Tidal Volume/Frequency Control There is a single control for setting the frequency and tidal volume, enabling the ventilator to be set rapidly for the patients requirements. There is a detent click at the recommended adult position 12BPM at 600ml*. Auto/Manual Control The auto/manual control allows the operator to decide whether to set the ventilator in the automatic mode or to provide ventilation manually. Air Mix Switch Available on the Air Mix model, the switch allows the operator to deliver either 100% oxygen or 50% oxygen, prolonging the duration of the cylinder gas supply. Patient Demand System A patient demand system is incorporated within the ventilator which allows synchronised interaction with the patient s own breathing efforts in cases of partial respiratory failure. This is only available with Pneupac VR1 and Air Mix model. MRI Compatible For in-hospital use the Pneupac VR1 is MRI compatible to 3 Tesla. Relief Valve The high-pressure relief valve is fitted to all units at 40cm H2O, with a loud and distinctive alarm. Alternatively a 60cm H2O valve can be factory fitted. *ERC/AHA/ILCOR Guidelines 2000

Ergonomically designed Air Mix Switch Linked Manual Controls Gas Supply Input Relief Valve Patient Valve Patient Valve There is a high quality patient valve that can be easily removed for cleaning. Linked Manual Controls The linked controls on the top and bottom of the ventilator allow the manual triggering of a single controlled ventilation. This permits the ventilator to be used in a variety of chest compression/ventilation options in cardiac life support. Ergonomically designed The Pneupac VR1 has been designed to fit comfortably into the hand. The shape of the unit allows the operator to observe the face mask when holding the ventilator.

The Complete Pneupac VR1 System Simplicity The Pneupac VR1 has been conceived to provide essential and rapid respiratory support in the most taxing of clinical situations. The controls are therefore designed to be intuitive and simple allowing you to select the appropriate ventilation (in terms of frequency and volume) quickly. Safety The Pneupac VR1 has been designed with maximum safety as a priority. Unlike other devices the Pneupac VR1 does not permit uncontrolled insufflation of oxygen. The manual control triggers a single ventilation equivalent to the quantity of ventilation delivered in automatic ventilation.

Portability First responders are increasingly called upon to carry more equipment. The size of the Pneupac VR1 has been reduced as far as possible to provide a highly portable product without compromising on key clinical features. The new input hose is extremely flexible, even at low temperatures and can be coiled tightly without kinking. Robust The Pneupac range of ventilators, in common with other Smiths Medical products are designed to withstand the demands of emergency medicine.
