We recommend getting up 2.5 to 3 hours before your starting time (consider also that the transition area closes at 06.45 a.m.). You feel like you haven t slept one bit? Don t worry, that s normal and will have no influence on your race performance. Put on your timing chip right after getting up! Breakfast should not be taken any later than 2 hours before the start! Eat foods that you are used to / normally have for breakfast. Drink enough (liquid with added electrolytes). Getting to the event area Consider that there are around 2 500 athletes who are on the same schedule as you are. Everybody wants to get as close to the event area as possible as fast as possible. See above for more information. Preparations in Transition Area Remove the bike cover and throw it into one of the bins Check your tire pressure. Be easy when adding air! Less is often more and you do not want to have your tire bursting! Is it really a good idea to have those bike shoes already attached to your pedals? Have you trained putting them on on the fly? WCs / Toilets The toilets in the transition area will be open on race day before and during the race. Additional toilets are available on the event area. They are marked with WC. Changing Rooms See below During the Race New Swim start Rack your white bag in the Athlete s Garden and follow the signs to the swim start in the Strandbad Mythenquai. The starting area willopen at 06.00 am! It is recommended to test the waters before your start to get used to the water temperatures. 5/10

NEW!! We have a much better swim start for you this year. Age group categories start in two waves At 06.30 a.m. after warm up, exit the water and go into your pre start area which is located behind the swim start Place yourself according to your estimated swimming time: -very well swimmers who swim below 1 hour 10 minutes in the first wave; start 6.50 a.m. -swimmers with more than 1 hour 10 minutes in the second wave; start 6.55 a.m. The swim cut off is after 2 hours 20 minutes for ALL athletes. It doesn t matter in which wave you started. The cut-off will be 2 hours 20 minutes after YOUR start. So it s more trouble than it s worth when you start in the first wave if you are not fast enough. You won t gain 10 minutes for the swimming. Swim Course You have to swim clockwise, buoys on the right side, boats on the left side. Instead of swimming towards the first buoy, try swimming towards a point on the other side of the lake which lies in the same direction. There is an Australian exit after the first lap on the Saffa-Island. This is a great spot for your fans to cheer for you during the swim. Current water temperatur ( Wassertemperatur in German) 6/10

Swim Course Rules Neoprene wetsuits are only permitted if the water temperature is below 24.5 Centigrade (76.1 Fahrenheit). If the water temperature is below 16 Centigrade (60.8 Fahrenheit), the wearing of a neoprene wetsuit is mandatory. No compression socks that cover the feet No cloves or other swim aids Cutting short leads to disqualification Swim cutoff: 2:20 hours Swim Exit is located opposite the Saffa-Island towards the Landiwiese. Orientate towards the banners at the exit. After exiting the water you are allowed to remove your wetsuit down to the hip. You are only allowed to remove it completely in the changing tent in transition area. Transition from Swim to Bike Enter transition and grab your blue bike bag. In the changing tent, remove your wetsuit and put on your bike gear and your helmet (and shoes). Stuff your wetsuit and swim wear into the blue bag. Drop off the blue bag at the marked drop-off zones right after the changing tent. Volunteers will re-rack it for you. Attention: The helmet must be worn with the strap closed as soon as you take your bike off the rack. Bike Course There are two laps to complete. Total vertical climb is 1300 meters. Roads are well secured but be alert for unexpected road traffic. Bike Course Rules The biking is an individual time trial without any personal attendance. Drafting behind or next to a participant is prohibited. Also, any dropping of bottles or other litter out of the Aid Station area will be punished with immediate disqualification. In Switzerland, the roads mustn t be closed completely but we have them well secured for you. The traffic rules and the Swiss road traffic law have to be strictly observed. For instance, a crossing of the security line leads to a disqualification! In some parts of the course, the use of the time trial handlebar is not allowed. Cut-off time for completing swim and bike is 10 hours. If you haven t passed Landiwiese towards Heartbreak Hill before 4.45 pm for the 2 nd time, you will be stopped by the marshals. 7/10
