President s Message Castro Valley Ski Club Newsletter Our Vice President Hello Everyone, We had a wonderful meeting at Lake Chabot this last month. The food, the friends and the venue were great.many Thanks to Dennie and Rich for getting to the Park and setting up the site and the BBQ and making sure that everyone knew where we were. Dennie posts the sign at the ranger booth and that is where you will find it in the future as well. You made it a success Dennie and Rich. And thank you to Bruce Anderson who made the most wonderful ice cream again. It is always a real treat to have this at our BBQs, Bruce you made it special for everyone. This coming month, Saturday, August 19, we hope to see everyone at Ron and Ann Whites house for another fun BBQ meeting this summer. It is always a wonderful venue and last year the area was under construction and Ron and Ann are looking forward to having you all there. Dennie will provide the information and what to bring. Another fun time. Pat and Dan have scheduled a great get together for August 4 at the concert in the park in Pleasanton, they will be setting out the blankets at midnight the night before so that you all will have a great spot and bring your food, fun and enjoy the music. It is always a great time. Tommy and the Four Speeds. More fun summer and fall times are ahead. We are looking at putting together a Bocce day for the club and those that would like to play, more information will be coming soon. Good food and good times. We also will be scheduling a work day at the Alameda County Food Bank, they are always in need of help and assistance and we will be scheduling that day soon. Hope you can come and help. There is a real need during the non holiday seasons. Well enjoy the rest of your summer, be safe and stay cool!!!! Hot August nights are coming.. Best to you all Claudia Claudia Fernandes President Here it is August and we are definitely experiencing Hot August Days and Nights ; I for one am enjoying the chance to linger outdoors in the evening without putting on a sweater. School is about to start and families are squeezing in as much vacation fun as possible. Sales are abundant for back to school supplies and clothing. And parents are looking forward to settling into a regular routine. As your BAC representative, there is little new information to report since the meetings have been on break for the summer months. There is still time to register for the A's Game, tailgate BBQ and fireworks on August 12 th ; registration is extended until August 10 th see the flyer in our newsletter for details or go to skibac.com. Also, Jun 8-12, 2018 -- FWSA Convention Reno -- BAC and Sierra are Co-Councils. Upcoming trips are listed in our newsletter. And it looks like the 2019 FWSA Ski Week will be in Steamboat Springs February 2-9, 2019. Claudia Fernandes and I recently hosted our Auction Item get together at Campo de Bocce in Livermore, where we had a Very Fun afternoon/ evening with fellow members playing Bocce, munching on goodies, drinks and friendly competition. If you have not tried Bocce it is a great group activity for even the novice player. For local members, don t forget to join in on the music and fun this Friday, August 4 th in Pleasanton. Thanks Pat and Dan for coordinating this activity and saving our spot. (After midnight the night before they are allowed to set out blankets, what troopers.) And our August General meeting will be hosted by Ron and Anne White at their pool area in Livermore. Until next time, STAY COOL and enjoy the rest of your summer.
