If you forgot your password, just fill in your e-mail address and click on "I forgot my password" and 4H online will e-mail you a temporary password. Once you have logged in, check your status. If it shows you to be "inactive" then just click "edit" by your name, scroll down to the bottom of the screen, and click on enroll for 2015-2016. Continue screen by screen until you have option to "Submit enrollment". Be sure you are active today! If you run into any problems getting re-enrolled, call the office or my cell. Congratulations County Champions One Junior 4-H'er and one Senior 4-H'er were presented with the Garland County Champion Award. The eleven 4-H County Champion hopefuls were required to have attended a majority of the dozens of 4-H events offered on the county, district and state levels during the previous year. They were required to get a letter of recommendation from their community club leader and write a 4-H story telling more detail about their main project area and how 4-H has impacted their lives. The candidates were also required to participate in an interview complete with judges. Awards were presented at the 4-H Achievement Banquet. Congratulations to Katelynn W. and Carlie D. Poultry Chain Chicks Arriving Very Soon! For everyone who ordered Poultry Chain Chicks, they will be arriving on May 11. The plan is to have them at the office around 5:00. I will be in touch with everyone concerning the exact time on the day they arrive. The date is set as long long as there are no problems on the grower s end. Be sure to bring a container to transport them from the office to home. YOUTH COUNCIL NEWS The Youth Counselor Officers did an outstanding job speaking at the 4-H Achievement Banquet on April 14. On Wednesday, the council members went over the agenda and tweaked their speaking parts. Everyone pitched in to help with decorations. Thursday night, over 100 4-H members and guests enjoyed the meal prepared by Phyllis Pipkin and the EHC Catering Committee. Congratulations to all the award winners! Besides planning and decorating for the banquet, the Youth Council also helps plan activities for County Camp. Instead of waiting for July to have the next meeting, we will meet on Monday, June 27 from 5:00-6:00. Be prepared to share some game ideas for county camp. Additional meetings for 2016: August 29: Leadership in Garland County November 24: Plans for 2017. Officer Nominations Garland County Teen Stars The Arkansas 4-H Teen Stars Program is a recognition program for Arkansas 4-H members who have outstanding achievement in the areas of 4-H projects and activities, leadership, and community service. Statewide 4-H scholarships are part of the Teen Stars Program. Teens who are graduating high school will be eligible to apply for the $1000 Zack O. and Jennie D. Jennings scholarship awarded at the State O Rama. Teen Star applicants were required to fill out a nine page application to submit to the State Office during the month of February. Teen Star applicants recorded their participation in 4-H during their previous years. Garland County now has three official Teen Stars--Breanne G., Jillian R., and Jazzlan R. All three girls have also applied to be state ambassadors and have been invited to participate in the Ambassador interviews during the Teen Leader Conference. Jillian Breanne Jazzlan Good luck to all three of these girls! NOTICE!!! Watermelon/Pumpkin Seeds are in! Four Garland County 4-H members will receive a trophy at the District O'Rama in Hope during June. They are Nathan C., Carson R., Luke R., Carlie D. Breanne G. was an advanced Record Book finalist and was asked to participate in an interview at the State Office. The Record Book is a type of journal or record of the member's main project that he or she focused on for the previous year. Up to three other projects could be reported as their secondary projects and the members reported their leadership activities, community service projects, and marketing/promotional events. Members also wrote a story several pages in length telling more about their projects and how their involvement in 3-H has impacted their lives over the years they have been a 4-H member. As with any good scrapbook, there was a section for pictures, too. During 2016, opportunity to compile the record book online will be explored. The Teen Leaders Club started the process for Garland County at the April meeting. A mini workshop was presented telling the teens how to log onto the system and upload pictures and events throughout the year. A county-wide workshop will be held in June. All aspects of putting together a record book will be discussed. Judges comments from the various score sheets of previous record books will be viewed and information about starting the online record books will be discussed.
