Verona: the City General Informations Inhabitants Since 2001, thanks to the increase of foreign immigrants, there has been a steady increase inresidents, which since the last census were 257.984 as follows: Italians 222.336; foreigners 35.648; males 122.046; females 135.938. Territory and Climate The city rises along the banks of the river Adige, where it enters the Po Valley.Verona has a dominant continental climate, with a microclimate influenced by the urban area and the prealpine system that determines temperatures slightly higher than the neighboring areas of the plain. Rainfall is concentrated between the end of April and the beginning of June, and between October and the beginning of November, with a peak in August, which was on average the wettest month of the year. In April, the average temperature is around 13 C, but it can also reach 19 C. Infrastructures and Transportation Verona is a motorway junction intersecting the A4 Milan-Venice, with exits to Verona Est and Verona Sud and the A22 Brennero motorway, with exit at Verona Nord. Verona is also reached by the National Road 434 Transpolesana, which connects it with Rovigo, from the State Road 11 Padana Superiore connecting Turin to Venice, from the State Road 12 of Abetone and the Brennero connecting Pisa to the Brennero pass and the national road 62 of the Cisa that connects Verona to Sarzana. The city is served by a ring road system: West Ring Road South Ring Road Tangenziale Est At the Verona railway junction the Brennero railway line, the Verona-Bologna line, the Milan- Venice railway, the Verona-Mantova-Modena railway and the Verona-Rovigo regional interest line. The city is served by the Porta Nuova Station, the main passenger system, which is 1.2 km from the city center, and that of Porta Vescovo. 3
Urban mobility The urban and interurban mobility of Verona is carried out with car services managed by the Verona Transport Company. Verona Station Porta Nuova - Catullo Airport connects the main Verona station with the Villafranca Catullo Airport in 15 minutes. The Municipality has a network of cycle paths, and since 2012 a bike sharing service is active. As for the Taxi, instead, Verona has formed the Radiotaxi Verona Union, which associates more than 170 taxi drivers. It offers all the possible services in the field of transport: taxi for the disabled, collective taxis on the occasion of fairs, rental with driver, services in agreement, airport connections, with the possibility of payment by credit cards. Transportation Plan Shuttle from hotels to the competion venue (Cattolica Center) The Organizing Committee has set up a connection service between the affiliated hotels that will host the participating delegations and the competition venue (Cattolica Center). The exact schedule will be fixed in accordance with the competition program, in compliance with the required standards, however guaranteeing the arrival of the athletes at least 1 hour and 30 minutes before the call on the piste. All the general details, the bus lines and the final departure times will always be available at the info points at the hotels reception desk and at the competition venue. A way back service at scheduled times will also be guaranteed, according to the program. The service is free for all athletes competing and their staff. Verona Airport Valerio Catullo(VRN) The Organizing Committee has set up a free connection service from the Verona airport and the partner hotels, available only by reservation. In order to book the transfer, send an e-mail to the following address: verona@fdmtours.it. Cattolica Center: Competition Venue From 1 st to 9 th April 2018, the Cattolica Center will become a genuine fencing village where areas dedicated to competitions and training sessions will alternate with technical and operational areas. The Competition INDIVIDUAL COMPETITION At 12h00 on the day preceding the event the Directoire Technique will publish at: the Competition Venue and on the internet: the list of participants by country the list of participants by initial ranking the list of participants by initial ranking (drawing pools in the World Cadet Championships according to the Organization Rules of FIE Art o.39) At 15h00 is the deadline for all remarks, objections or withdrawals presented to the Directoire Technique. No changes will be accepted beyond this deadline. At 16h00 - on the information panels in the Competition Venue and at 17h00 - in the official hotels and in the pigeon holes the Directoire Technique will publish the following information: final composition of the pools times and pistes allocations competition format. JUNIOR S TEAM COMPETITION The Directoire Technique must be notified of any changes related to the teams by 15h00 the day prior to the event. Direct Elimination tables of 64-32 will be posted in the Competition Venue and official hotels the day preceding the team event at 16h00. Preliminary tables T32-16 will be fenced in the Preliminary Hall.(Pavilion 13) Direct Elimination tables of 8 will be posted Immediately in the Competition Venue, after the termination of qualifying competitions. The drawing of lots to place the teams up or down on the match score-sheet, according to the Rules, will be held where indicated by the DT. The team ranking is set according to the Organization Rules of FIE events: Art. o.43. 17
CONFIRMATION OF RESULTS The fencers are responsible for checking if the results in their pool and the DE sheets are recorded correctly. The screens placed in different locations will allow a quick verification of the updated results of the round of pools and DE matches. To avoid any kind of error, the DT will publish the results of the pools and the list of qualified and eliminated fencers as soon as the round of pools is over. Delegations must submit any protest to the DT within 10 minutes. After this deadline, the ranking will not be modified. The DE tables, together with the schedule and pistes, will be posted after this 10-minutes period and after each round of DE Only documents presented at the information stand are official (result of preliminary competitions of groups, an individual ranking) No calls will be made via microphone. ORGANISATION OF THE INDIVIDUAL DIRECT ELIMINATION TABLE 32 For T64 all fencers must be present in the official warm-up area (pistes 1-20) 40 minutes before the scheduled beginning of their matches. Fencers must report to the Call Room (without weapon control) 20 minutes before the scheduled beginning of their matches to be lead to the coloured pistes at the scheduled time. Coaches are not allowed to be in the Call Room The wireless system will not be used at any stage of the competitions. The SEMI delegates will remit the weapons in closed fencing bags, which will be carried by volunteers who will escort the athletes to the coloured pistes The bag is to remain closed for the entirety and put in the team box under the supervision of the volunteer. During the one minute break, or when it is needed, the volunteer will bring to the athlete a chair, a towel, some water and the spare weapon. Athletes are to leave the Call Room ready to fence, mask in hand and weapon already plugged into their body wires. 18
Attention! In case the fencer does not report to the Call Room at the appointed time (according to time specified in the schedule) the sanction in the rules (art t.120) will apply. ORGANISATION OF THE TEAM DIRECT ELIMINATION TABLE For the T 64, T32 and T16 teams must report to the piste 10 minutes before the scheduled beginning of their bouts. All teams taking part in a final stage of tournament ( 8-T4) must be present in Call room 20 minutes before the beginning of the tournament. Equipment Control in the Call Room will be from T8 (in earlier stages equipment control will be made on the piste) Equipment will be controlled in the team boxes during the matches 8-4 The teams will have designated areas, sectioned off by barriers, near the coloured pistes and pistes 21-24. Team members must remain within these areas during the team matches. Attention! In case the team does not report to the Call Room at the appointed time (according to time specified in the schedule) the sanction in the rules (art t.120) will apply. VIDEO-REFEREEING Video-refereeing is used in all three weapons from the T32 at the individual events Video refereeing is used from T16 in team events juniors The designation of referees and video-consultants is done according to art. t.37 and t.38 of the Technical Rules. 19

To proceed to the weapon control it is mandatory to have the accreditation card. Requirements regarding the equipment All the equipment must be in good condition and working order complying with FIE regulations The list of accepted item are mentioned in the table below It is mandatory to put the logos of the countries on both legs of the breeches The name of the athlete and the name of the country must be printed in dark blue on the back; the size of the letters should be between 8 and 10 cm high. All the prints must be readable. All the advertising and manufacturer logos must be in confirmity with the FIE Publicity Code requirements. After collecting the equipment it is necessary for the athletes to check the presence of the control markings. For additional information, please, see m.25 of the FIE Material Rules. Electric jackets The conductive jacket must be so made that when it is laid flat there is a straight line between the point of junction of the lines of the groin and the two points corresponding to the tops of the hip bones (ilium). The Control of electric jackets will be carried out in two steps: Firstly in the Weapon Control room checking the respective electrical parameters and geometric dimensions For the second time, the electric jackets will be checked in the Call Room in the presence of a representative of the Refereeing Commission, while the athlete is wearing the jacket. The purpose is to check whether the electric jacket is fits for the athlete s body. Breast / chest protectors The use of a breast/chest protector (made of metal or some rigid material see M.25.4) is compulsory for women and optional for men. At foil, this breast/chest protector with a special soft layer must be worn below the protective plastron. Mask All the participants to this Juniors and Cadets Championships have to fully comply woth the new rule concerning the new fastening system of the mask (see M.25.7) Mask designs Masks may feature coloured designs, on condition that they are approved by the FIE. 22
Accreditation and Ticketing Confirmation and Accreditation The Accreditation Office will be opened till the end of the World Championships in Cattolica Center. Neither the fencers nor the coaches will have an access to the competition area without their valid accreditations. The presence of a fencer is confirmed once he/she is registered at the FIE website. The participation of athletes in individual and team events is validated when collecting their accreditations, no later than 14h00 the day before athletes have their first competition. Fencers do not need to present themselves at the Directoire Technique. Federations who have not yet made their payments are asked to settle their accounts with FIE Secretary Treasurer Mm. Salhi or FIE office by 12:00 on 29 March, 2018. Ticketing The cost for the daily ticket is 7 euro for person. For the under 14 the admission is free, while for FIE or FIS members or athletes, the cost is 5 euros. The 9 days card (for the whole competition) costs 50 euros. It is possible to buy the ticket directly on the competition site Cattolica Center or through the internet website of TICKETONE.
