Marsh Maniacs at the 2016 State 4-H Shooting Games Submitted by Todd Ramsey, Club Manager We had a great showing at the State Games this year. In total we took 15 kids from Barbers Hill. We had two big award winners with Jonathan Goedrich placing 3rd in Whizbang S2 and Chailey Wilcheck placing 4th in Whizbang S1 Female. All of the kids shot personal bests in at least one event and several shot their first official straight in a competition. As a club we were also recognized as the Club of the Year for 2016. This award is given based on participation, sportsmanship and the kid s attitudes on the field. It was a big surprise and we got a lot of recognition. We really had a great state games and year overall. These ladies did an excellent job and we are very proud of their accomplishments. Don t forget to re-enroll for in 4-H for the 2016-2017 4-H Year! 4-H enrollment for the 2016-2017 year opened on August 15, 2016. If you re planning to continue participating in 4-H you need to re-enroll at texas.4honline.com. The cost of membership for youth is $20 if you enroll by October 31. The price increases to $25 on November 1. The cost of membership for adults is $5.

Cookies for Cops County-Wide Community Service On Friday, July 22, 2016 4-Hers from many of the Chambers County 4-H Clubs came together to deliver cookies to the Chambers County Sherriff s Office and the Chambers County branch of the Texas Highway Patrol as a token of gratitude. More than 200 cookies were baked/purchased in total and nearly 20 4-Hers and their parents made the trip to the CCSO and DPS offices to deliver these goodies in person. The Chambers County 4-H Adult Leaders Association has set a goal of hosting more Countywide community service projects, so keep up with emails from the Extension Office so that you can participate in the next event!
