LAKE ERIE COLLEGE 2006 HUNTER/JUMPER WINTER SERIES GENERAL INFORMATION ENTRIES: Entries will be accepted only until the start of each class. Entry blanks will be accepted when signed by the owner, or his authorized agent, trainer and rider. All U.SE.F membership numbers that apply must be noted on the entry blank or a nonmember fee or fees must be paid. ENTRIES ARE TO BE MAILED TO: Marge Fernbacher 5000 Riverside Dr. Willoughby, OH 44094 Phone 440-942-9471 ENTRY FEE: $15.00 per class except as noted Six ribbons awarded per class Championships awarded per division. REFUNDS: Once a class has started, horses not shown in classes in which they have been entered, forfeit their entry fees, except if a horse is injured or becomes ill prior to the class or classes entered. Proper notification of the scratch must be made in the show office before the start of the class or classes that are being scratched. This must be accompanied by a certificate from a veterinarian, and the entry will be refunded less a processing fee of $10.00. CREDENTIALS: All exhibitors in the pony sections must present their measurement cards at the office before numbers will be released. All ponies that do not possess a current measurement card will be measured at a time and place to be announced. All exhibitors in any Amateur section must present their Amateur cards at the office before numbers will be released. No numbers will be released until proper credentials and all signatures are in order. Please make sure that your entry form is properly completed. STABLING: (Bedding NOT provided shavings available $7per bale). Permanent box stalls and vinyl temporary stalls with doors are $75.00 for the weekend, or $50.00 if showing one day only. Entries showing for entire weekend will be given preference for permanent stalls. Competitors may bring their own bedding as long as it is NOT paper. FOOTING: Sand in both indoor warm-up (100 x 65 ) and Main show arena (100 x 225 ) Hard hats must be worn at all times while mounted. ASTM/SEI approved headgear required for all riders. Lake Erie College and its employees will not be held responsible for loss or damage to persons, property, or horse. All dogs must be leashed at all times. No smoking in lobby, barns or arenas. Emergency medical technician/nurse on duty. Vet and Farrier phone numbers will be posted by all phones. Food concession is in lower lobby of indoor arena. SCHOOLING FOR HUNTERS & JUMPERS: The ring will be open for schooling from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. before the show each day. The ring will be open one hour after the course is changed on Saturday for horses stabled overnight. Schooling during breaks in the show will be controlled and announced. All entries are accepted the day of the show prior to the start of each class. Only horses showing in the division in progress may be in the warm up area. No horses may be tied in the warm up area. Management reserves the right to raise or lower fences, and to cancel or combine classes as competition warrants. In some classes the area of the courtesy circle may be restricted by a mandatory line. This line will be indicated on the course diagram, and a corresponding barrier will be erected in the ring. All under saddle classes are to be shown at the walk, trot, and canter both ways of the ring. Light contact with the horse's mouth is required. Martingales are not permitted. Green horses MUST state whether first or second year. Amateur/ Junior Jumper MUST state whether Junior or Amateur.
HUNTER FENCES: Inviting, natural looking fences (brush boxes, picket, gates, and roll tops), with several oxers included in each class. JUMPER FENCES: Courses in the jumper division may consist of any combination of the following: brush, gates, planks, oxers, posts & rails, liverpool or wall. HUNTER/JUMPER CHAMPION AND RESERVE CHAMPION: They will be awarded at the end of the Winter Series. The awards will be presented at the last show in 2006. CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS FOR HUNTERS: A champion and reserve champion title will be awarded to the two of the four horses acquiring the most points over fences in each hunter section. Fences to be 2 6 Pony Hunter Division Small ponies to jump 2 3, Medium Ponies to jump 2 6 and Large ponies 3. Classes are limited to ponies 14.2 hands and under and must be shown by riders who have not reached their 18 th birthday. Judged on performance and soundness. Manners and suitability of pony and rider emphasized. Extreme speed penalized. Measurement cards required. Children s Hunter Pony Open to ponies ridden by a Junior exhibitor. The combination pony/rider is not eligible for USEF rated classes at the same show. Ponies may not compete in the children s section if also entered in the Pony division at the same show. To be judged on performance, soundness, manners, way of going, size of rider to mount and suitability as a Children s Hunter Pony. To be offered at two heights: 2 for small and medium and 2 6 for large ponies; spreads not to exceed height of fence. Low Children s Hunter Ridden by a Junior exhibitor. Riders may not cross-enter into any class with fences 3 or higher at the same show. Fences 2 6. Children s Hunter Open to horses ridden by a junior exhibitor. Spreads not to exceed fence heights.
