Public Meeting #6 Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus Phase III Allen Street Extension Project D Youville College Center February 21, 2018

PHASE A - PROGRESS The Pathway design extends from Washington Street to Ellicott Street, including the traffic signals at each intersection. The design aims to provide a more inviting and safer pathway from Washington Street to Ellicott Street. The new University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (UB SMBS) building has an open walkway through the ground floor that connects Washington Street to Main Street. The Pathway includes a creative mix of design features, including pieces from the Allen Street and the Ellicott Street designs in an effort to create a connective pathway within the campus.

PHASE A - CONCEPT

PHASE A - SIMULATION

PHASE B - PROGRESS The remaining funding is being used to fund the reconstruction of Allen Street. Phase B is currently funded from the west side of Main Street to the west side of Delaware Avenue along Allen Street. The Allen Street design features a flexible design with moveable bollards allowing the roadway to transition from parking on both sides to a wider sidewalk zone by eliminating parking on both sides of the roadway throughout the corridor.

PHASE B - LIMITS

PHASE B - APPROVED CROSS SECTION The cross section incorporates the comments heard from the public during the five public involvement meetings: 1. Shared-Use Lanes (Sharrows) as Bicycle Facilities 2. Maintains Two-Way Traffic Flow with Acceptable Vehicle Operations 3. Flexibility for Enhanced Pedestrian Zones with Moveable Bollards 4. Retains Parking Lanes on Both Sides of Allen Street
