Lloyd Noble Center Broadcast: SoonerSports.TV Stats:SoonerSports.com SOONERS (4-1-0 overall) Head Coach: K.J. Kindler Record at OU: 318-52-3 (12th year) Overall Record: 397-92-4 NOTES AND NUMBERS FOR WEEK FIVE OKLA-HOME-A The No. 1 Oklahoma women s gymnastics team returns to Norman after back-to-back weekends on the road to host North Carolina Sunday afternoon at Lloyd Noble Center. The meet is slated for a 3:45 p.m. CT start. HOME SWEET LLOYD NOBLE On Sunday, the Sooners will look to build upon their 89-4 all-time home record under 12th-year head coach K.J. Kindler. OU has claimed 27 straight victories in Norman dating back to 2014. THE BEST OF THE BEST After being one of the first two teams to break the 198 mark this season, the Sooners remained the No. 1 squad in the nation in this week s national standings with an average score of 197.813. As a team, OU is ranked in first place on three of four events, including vault (49.494 average), bars (49.475) and beam (49.506), and fourth on floor (49.338). SUPER BEAM SUNDAY Last Sunday may have been the Super Bowl, but the Sooners were putting on a show on ESPN and setting records in the process. With a beam score of 49.775, Oklahoma set a school-record topping its previous total of 49.750 set in 2015. Maggie Nichols and Anastasia Webb each recorded a perfect 10.0 on the event marking the second time in program history that two athletes scored a 10.0 on the same event in one meet (Nicole Lehrmann, McKenzie Wofford at TWU, Feb. 26, 2017). Webb is just the third Sooner to score a 10.0 on beam. CLUB 197 The Sooners have posted a score of at least 197 or higher in 34 consecutive meets, dating back to the 2016 season. The last time Oklahoma scored lower than 197 was in the first meet of the 2016 season when they put up a 196.725. During the streak, the Sooners have posted 10 scores of 198 or higher, including three in their last five meets. Of the top five teams in the nation currently, only one school even comes close to matching the Sooners dominance. LSU has scored a 197 or higher in its last 20 meets but has only posted a 198 or higher three times in the same stretch. Only 10 schools have posted a 197 or better this season and only OU and LSU have done it in every meet. UP NEXT The Sooners will head to Oklahoma City, Okla., for the annual Perfect 10 Challenge. Oklahoma will face former Big 12 rival Nebraska at the Cox Convention Center on Friday, Feb. 16, at 6:45 p.m. CT. QUICK HITS Senior Stefani Catour (Event Specialist of the Week) and sophomore Maggie Nichols (Gymnast of the Week) and Bre Showers (Newcomer of the Week) were honored by the Big 12 for their impressive performances on Sunday. Nichols took home the all-around title with a 39.900, while Showers and Catour put up career highs on beam to help the Sooners set a school record with a 49.775. Oklahoma returns six previous NCAA All-Americans who own 16 total accolades: Natalie Brown (BB),Stefani Catour (UB, BB), Brenna Dowell (UB, FX), AJ Jackson (VT, UB, FX), Nicole Lehrmann (UB, BB), Maggie Nichols (VT, UB, FX). OU was ranked No. 1 in the NACGC/W Preseason Coaches Poll for the third straight season, receiving 33 of 50 first-place votes. It marks the eighth straight year the Sooners have been ranked in the top five nationally to begin the season.
