DETERMINING WHAT NERF GUN IS THE MOST ACCURATE. Finn K. Cary Academy ABSTRACT

Transcription:

Many guys shoot 222, 22-250, 243 and the 223, myself I have all of these or had or many others at some stage, BUT a good accurate 223 is hot property sizzling hot!! I purchased a 223 Savage 110V, one of the most accurate factory rifles built, it was 14 years ago, but something went wrong and the dealer told me sorry but he sold that gun to another guy and forgot! So I cancelled all the papers and looked at others, I also wanted a good farm protection gun and saw a Galil 223 Vektor on the shelf. I was very hesitant about this gun I must be very honest, made in South Africa and all, I was indeed very hesitant to part with the money to buy it, I never knew what to expect. It had a scope on it with illuminators and different colours, a very basic scope that they mainly all came with as standard, however it was a piece of junk so I tossed it in the bin. I bought 4 boxes of loaded PMP ammo, and blasted them away, and zeroed in the scope, after I got back home, I used a LEE COLLET die and cleaned and primed the cases and made 4 batches of 6 rounds in each.

I immediately noticed that the gun LOVED a 50 grain Sierra Varminter #1330 stock no, with Somchem 321 powder and a load of 25,5 grains, it grouped amazingly, I was able to get 12mm groups at 80m. (Shot 12mm at 120m today 2-10-2011) If you use cases from the same batch, all the walls of the cases are the same thickness, thus all pressures are the same, make sure each load is individually loaded, clean primer pockets, load the same weight primers etc, so at the end of the day every loaded cartridge is exactly the same in make and total weight - your accuracy is far better. Weigh each bullet head to get ones exactly the same weight. (Make sure your scope rings are tight). I have had 3 scopes on my rifle, I have now fitted a SIMMONS 10 power and it s a perfect match. Here are a few targets as example. ------------------------------------------------------- Somchem 321 25, 5 grains 50 grain Sierra Varminter #1330 Magnum small rifle primers Remington cases (all the same batch)

This group above was fired as fast as I could pull the trigger; I used a dead rest on sandbags, measured out an exact 80 metres. I fired, then again dead rest and again pulled the trigger etc etc, as fast as I could shoot, to shoot the rounds in this photo took about 1 minute, not that fast shooting but shooting pretty quick enough while concentrating. I don t shoot groups with a rifle generally when I know it is my dedicated night rifle as we shoot one shot with a cold barrel at night, so the first shot must be dead on when you fire it at night, firing groups in the day means zero. Here is a shot with an ice cold barrel; first shot smack centre 80M. Don t be fooled by seeing a battle gun being used to shoot predators, this rifle will outshoot many bolt action guns out to 120m, its limit is about 150m. Cold barrel, 80m dead rest over sand bags if I had to change anything on this 223 Galil to achieve better accuracy, I would change NOTHING, I am happy with what it can achieve, here are a few pictures with the SILENCER and tests done.

Here we have the same 223 with its JC Silencer; if you want silencers, dead quiet and light, call Jaco at 083-241-8061 A small secret I used for baboon hunting is take a batch of FMJ ammunition, group them to see it the ammo is any good, if so cut the head back about 3mm, ( use a file on the tip while holding the loaded case) then make a small hollow, fill with wax and zero the rifle. This makes good baboon ammunition.

I have a LED LENSER fitted to the rifle for when I walk to spots and shoot jackal at night, the small LED Lenser M14 gives me great light red or white and its ample to shoot with, the other bracket is for smaller torches etc. LED LENSER M-14 Fit two maglite brackets back to back to get a firm hold on the rifle, works like a dream.

PICTURES WITH LIGHT ADAPTER FOR WALKING LEFT AND RIGHT SIDES OF THE MOUNT

As you can see here the left or right of the bracket can be unscrewed fast if need be, so only the centre remains, very nice bracket, all kinds of stuff available here www.tactical4u.com and far cheaper than what you would pay at most SA rip off shops. I use two lights on the barrel for walking in bush at night works well if you need to light and shoot. Check out this website, stuff so cheap it s amazing, those bipods are only $30 equally as good as any Harri$ bipod. Here is my bracket, $16 imagine what you would be klapped in SA for this bracket! http://www.tactical4u.com/en/product/item/273/product_detail.ht ml

I bought this for my night vision binoculars, fitted on sure-fire torch on top, another infra red lens, this would cost about R2000, 00 in SA, and I paid $22, 00 here for it!!!!!!!!! http://www.tactical4u.com/en/product/item/168/product_detail.ht ml GROUPS FIRED WITH A SILENCER This is FMJ ammunition, cut back as described above. Example of filed down heads filled with wax in tip of drilled hole.

This photo in CENTRE is 223 at 120m shooting as fast as I can shoot with home loads, over sandbags but as fast as I can. The same photo with holes top left is the Brno 222 holes aiming at his ear tip at 120m with the 222. Another 222 group at 120 below just for fun
