Scruffie has 20 bases to prepare - each one has a Scout skill or badge requirement as well as a puzzle or challange to solve. Scruffie Set up his Central Command Centre. He will make sure that this is run correctly form this central location. Some Scouts help fill the barrels with water, this will make them heavy, they will be used to learn to "parbuckle" a Tehnique for loading heavy Loads. The teams "mostly" arrive on time - this is important as its very difficult to run the events when people come late. They Sign in and PAY their money for dinner - This happens at the beginning of the EVENT - Not at the end Its very hot day, The Aluminium boats will be hot - Scruffie issues buckets to wet down and cool down the Boats.
Scruffie Starts the event with some Basic training, He Needs to teach the Boat Crews the correct procedure to load and unload the Boat - And how to Row as a Group. Then the Crews are ready to Launch the boats - All together now - No half lifts...scruffie is watching you. At the FIRST AID BASE, a team is ready to Make a stretcher The Makeshift Stretcher is made by taking a blanket or tarpaulin and folding the tarp over two poles... And the result is that the we have a working stretcher to carry a heavy lump up the hill... Similarly BOB is rescued from the water and carried up the hill by a team of willing rescuers. (Ed Scruffie is an Excellent Sweep, at least that what he tells me)
The teams are on the water. Water rescue's - Races, Special maneouveres, ZIG ZAG, Scruffie wants to thank Meena for the watermelon and AJ's Mom for helping cut and serve it - Delicious. SUP towing - Team practice rescuing a Third Party Whilst another team works on a Puzzle game - "Parts of an Oar" or "Parts of Boat". Remember the game Ends at 19h30 - On time make sure you finish the base before the game ends. A Bucket Hitch - A Special knot for lifting a bucket or Barrel - Used in this game to recover all the radioactive balls - At the CHERNOBYL Base. Elsewhere a Spanish Windlass is used to pull a trailer - two poles can be used to lever a rope in a Spindle and use that for moving a heavy object.
