Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta 2012 ORGANIzING AUTHORITY The regatta is organized by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS), in collaboration with Boat International Media (BIM). 1. THE RULES 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the following: (a) the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing; (b) the ISAF Offshore Special Regulations Category 3 with life rafts compulsorily on board, except that jackstays are not required (amends OSR 4.04); (c) where a specific trophy is available for a specific class, the class rules of that class shall apply to boats competing for that trophy. For the Wally Class, the 2011 Wally Class Rules and 2012 Amendments will take precedence in case of conflict with the NoR and Sailing Instructions; (d) the IRC Rules 2012, Parts A, B and C shall apply. For the purposes of IRC rules 21.1.5 (d) and (e) this regatta is on consecutive days but the sails carried on board need not remain the same for the duration of the event but sails do need to remain the same for each day. The day begins when the boat leaves the dock for the first time each day; (e) IRC Rule 22.4 shall not apply. There will be no limitations on crew number or weight. 1.2 No national authority prescriptions will apply except Part 6 of prescriptions of the Italian Sailing Federation, which will apply only to Italian competitors. A copy of that prescription is in Appendix A. 1.3 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence. 1.4 In the event of a discrepancy between the Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions, the Sailing Instructions take precedence. This changes rule 63.7 1.5 The Organizing Authority reserves the right to amend this Notice of Race. Any amendments prior to 4th June, 2012 will be emailed to owners whose entries have been accepted. Amendments will also be posted on the official websites (www.yccs.com and www. loropianasuperyachtregatta. com). Amendments to this Notice of Race after 4th June, 2012 will be posted on the Official Notice Board, on the official websites and copies will be available from the Regatta Office. 2. ADVERTISING 2.1 Boats may display advertising in accordance with ISAF Regulation 20, Advertising Code. Boats shall display Event Advertising in compliance with ISAF Regulation 20 and as detailed in the Sailing Instructions. 2.2 Boats will be required to display the Sponsor s pennant on the backstay throughout the period starting one hour after the completion of registration and ending one hour after the finish of the last race of the regatta. 2.3 In addition boats will be required to display the event battle flag throughout the same period but only while moored. 2.4 The Organizing Authority will supply the pennant and flag at registration. 2.5 The Organizing Authority may also require the installation, at no cost to competitors, of on board video cameras for the 4 5

official television production and/or a tracking system. 2.6 Boats intending to display advertising during the regatta shall state in the entry form the nature of such advertising. 2.7 Boats are responsible for informing advertisers and sponsors that no activities advertising any brand will be permitted ashore within the Porto Cervo Marina Area without the consent in writing of the Organizing Authority obtained before the start of the Regatta. 3. ELIGIBILITY 3.1 The regatta is open to the following boats: - IRC rated yachts with LOA of 80 feet or more with a valid IRC rating certificate - IMA Classes boats with LOA of 80 feet or more with a valid IRC rating certificate In exceptional circumstances the Organizing Authority may accept entries of boats with a LOA less than 80 feet which comply in all other respects with this Notice of Race. 3.2 Depending on the number and nature of the entries, the Organizing Authority at its absolute discretion may divide them into groups or divisions. Divisions may have different courses, cruising or racing orientated, and starts (pursuit start or fleet start) in accordance with the nature of the yachts. Foreseen Divisions are Performance and Cruising. 3.3 Boats in the Performance and Cruising Superyacht Divisions referenced in NoR 3.2 shall have cruising interiors found in traditional cruising superyachts. Determination of what constitutes a cruising interior will be at the sole discretion of the Organizing 6 7

Authority. Racing oriented boats will be scored in a separate Racing Division with dedicated trophies. Boats in the Racing Division will start with and sail the same course as the Performance Division boats. 4. ENTRIES 4.1 Entries shall be made on the Official Entry Form (Annex 1) and shall be received by the Organizing Authority by 15th May, 2012 together with: (i) A copy of the boat s IRC Rating Certificate (ii) An entry fee of 5,000 Euros (for Members of the YCCS and IMA the entry fee is 4,500 Euros) The entry fee is not refundable and should be paid in accordance with section 4.4 4.2 If a boat changes her sail plan or any other measurement values requiring a new Rating Certificate, she shall provide the Organizing Authority with the new certificate as soon as possible and in any event not later than 30th May, 2012. Any changes to the IRC Certificate may only be made as a result of equipment checks and controls. 4.3 At the absolute discretion of the Organizing Authority, late entries may be accepted after 15th May, but for late entries the Organizing Authority cannot guarantee that moorings will be available. 4.4 The entry fee may be paid by Credit Card (VISA or MASTERCARD) or by bank transfer as stated in detail on the entry form. 5. SCHEDULE 5.1 Monday 4th June: Registration, Measurement, Inspection and Briefing. Skippers Briefing will be held at YCCS Clubhouse at 18.00 5.2 Dates of racing 5th June 12.00 6th June 12.00 7th June 12.00 Only for Performance Division Lay day for Cruising Division 8th June 12.00 9th June 12.00 5.3 Prize Giving Saturday 9th June 5.4 Alteration of Programme: The Organizing Authority and the Race Committee reserve the right to modify the above programme according to weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances. 6. RATING CERTIFICATES AND MEASUREMENT 6.1 Boats shall be available for inspection not later than 10.00 hours on 4th June. For boats already in Porto Cervo, inspections may be carried out on 3rd June. 6.2 Boats may be inspected and/ or check measured at any reasonable time before or during the regatta. 6.3 IRC certificates may be issued by the appropriate Rating Offices. 6.4 A list of the TCCs of the boats will be posted on the YCCS and Event websites on 1st June. TCCs will also be posted on the Official Notice Board during the event. The Protest Time Limit for Rating Protests by boats, except relating to changes made during the regatta, will expire at 15.00 hours on 4th June. 7. REGISTRATION 7.1 At registration the following documents will be required as set out in the Entry Form: (a) Acceptance of the Notice of Race; (b) Disclaimer of liability; (c) Photography and TV rights consent; (d) Insurance declaration; (e) Crew list 7.2 Without the approval in writing of the Race Committee whose discretion shall be full and unfettered: (i) boats not complying with the requirements of NoR 7.1 are not eligible for the event; and (ii) the value of rating certificates issued on 1st June, 2012 shall not be modified except as approved by the Organizing Authority. Boats shall not be entitled to redress in respect of a decision of the International Jury under this paragraph (Changes RRS 62 (1)). 8. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS The sailing instructions will be available at www. yccs.com and www. loropianasuperyachtregatta. com by 2nd June and available at final registration. 9 RACING AREA The racing area will be in North Eastern Sardinian waters. 10 THE COURSES The courses to be sailed will be Coastal courses laid along the coast and among the islands in the vicinity of Porto Cervo. 11 PENALTY SYSTEM The Scoring Penalty as provided in Rule 44.3 shall apply instead of the Two- Turns or One-Turn Penalties, except that Rule 44.3(c) is deleted and replaced with the following: 44.3 (c). The elapsed time for a boat that takes a Scoring Penalty shall be the elapsed time she would have been allocated without a penalty increased by 2% for each penalty she takes. 12 SCORING 12.1 The Low Point System Appendix A shall apply except that there will be no discard. 12.2 For the Performance Division five races are scheduled of which one race will constitute a series. 12.3 For the Cruising Division four races are scheduled of which one race will constitute a series. 13. MOORINGS 13.1 The entry fee includes mooring fees from 10.00 hours on 4th June to 10.00 hours on 10th June at Porto Cervo Marina or Port East provided that the entry is completed by the closing date for entries. 13.2 Moorings may or may not be available for late entries. 13.3 The cost of electricity and water charges (as well as mooring fees for late entries or additional periods) are not included in the entry fee and must be paid directly to the Marina Office. 13.4 To reserve moorings before and after the dates indicated in par. 13.1 and for tenders please apply directly to the Marina Office: Tel +39 0789 905111 Fax +39 0789 91153 Email info@marinadiportocervo.com Early booking is recommended. 13.5 Local regulations require that all boats MUST inform the Harbourmaster s Office by radio on VHF Channel 9 when they first arrive in Porto Cervo and each time they leave or enter the Harbour. 14. COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONIC AIDS 14.1 RRS 41 is changed such that for safety purposes boat to boat communication is allowed and encouraged. A dedicated VHF channel will be advised at the Briefing for this purpose. 14.2 Boats shall be equipped with a Marine VHF transceiver operating on VHF channels 9, 16 and 72. 15. INTERNATIONAL JURY Protests will be heard by an International Jury whose ruling shall be final. 16. TROPHIES AND PRIZES - The Loro Piana Prize: The Silver Jubilee Cup by Boat International Media for the best classified boat in the Cruising Division; - The Loro Piana Cup for the best classified boat in the Performance Division; - Trophy for the 2 nd and 3 rd scored boats of the Performance and Cruising Divisions; - Trophy for the best classified boat in the Racing Division; - The Wally Trophy for the best overall classified Wally boat; - The Southern Wind Trophy for the best overall classified Southern Wind boat; - The IMA Trophy for the best overall classified IMA Class boat; - The YCCS Trophy for the best overall classified boat owned by a YCCS member. 17. INSURANCE Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third party liability insurance with adequate cover taking into account the value of the boats racing and the measure of damages likely to arise in the event of an accident. 10 11

Competitors are reminded of RRS Fundamental Rule 4: The responsibility for a boat s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone. In any case, competitors agree that the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, Boat International Media, the Sponsors and their agents, the Race Officials which shall include everyone involved in the management of the racing, the Race Officer, the International Jury and their assistants have no responsibility for loss of life or injury to members or others, or for the loss or damage to any vessel or property. As part of the registration process, each individual participating crew member will be required to sign a declaration accepting this disclaimer of liability. 19 MEDIA RIGHTS Competitors grant the Organizing Authority and the Sponsors the unrestricted right and permission to use the name and the image for any text, photograph or video footage of either themselves or the boat they are sailing during the event to be published or broadcast in any media whatsoever (including but not limited to Press and TV advertisements or Internet), for either editorial or advertising purposes or to be used in press information; in this respect, competitors names and any biographical material of themselves may also be used or reproduced in any way known.
