TERRITORIAL NEWS September 2015 FROM THE CHAIRMAN With our first South West Regional Championship six weeks away and more than 200 shooters already registered, it makes me realize just how fortunate the Territorial Marshals are. As many of you may have noticed, attendance at many matches across the county continues to decline. Land Run, and now Red Dirt Rampage, both continue to have high levels of attendance. Some will attribute this to the quality of our range, some will say it is our centralized location, many believe it is the fact that we have the very best banquet facility in the country at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, and some will say it is the level of hospitality we show to our guests. F Bois d'arc - Editor August Cowboy Action Shoots orty shooters showed up to shoot six very fast stages at the Saturday monthly match. A remarkable twenty-five percent of the shooters shot the match clean. Congratulations to Roy s Creek Dan for besting the field to claim top honors. Also, congratulations to our many clean shooters. We want to put out a great big THANK YOU to I. B. Slow and I. B. Real Slow for preparing a great lunch of some delicious home cooked brisket. Overall Winner I don t believe our success can be attributed to just any one of these things. I truly believe our success, year after year, is a combination of all these things and more. We have never stopped trying to improve our range and making our matches better each year. We will continue to work hard to set the standard for matches throughout the country. I hope you all are as proud to be called a Territorial Marshal as I am. Second Roy s Creek Dan Third Texita Draw Loansome Buck

Overall Winner What's the call By Roy s Creek Dan, Territorial Governor Stage was written as follows. Rifle with 10 rounds to shoot four targets starting from the left and hitting 1, 2, 3, 4, 3, 2, 1, 2, 3, 4. Shooter hit 1, 2, 3, 4, 3, 2, 1, but missed 2, levered and shot 2, and 3 and was out of ammo and did not shoot or hit 4 with what would have been his 10th shot. a. Miss only Second Paladenton Third b. Miss and a P Answer: b. Miss and a P In this case, each round FIRED has a designated target. If any of those rounds FIRED fails to hit a target; it's a MISS. If any of those rounds FIRED hit the WRONG target; it's a PROCEDURAL. Failure to HIT target #2 with a FIRED ROUND was a MISS. Stoney Cahill Fourth Loansome Buck Fifth HITTING target #2 with the FIRED ROUND designated for target #3 = PROCEDURAL. The "miss" did NOT cause the "P"...attempting to make up the miss on #2 did. Be sure to bring your Oklahoma City Gun Club member card if you still need to get your work day credit. If you know anyone who is not a cowboy shooter, they are welcome also. RUCKUS IN THE NATIONS September 17 th 20 th The SASS Oklahoma State Championship will be hosted by ITSASS at the Red Castle Gun Club, located on the beautiful Zinc Ranch near Sand Springs, OK. For more information, visit their website: www.itsass.net LUNCH COWBOY WISDOM There are three kinds of men: the ones that learn by reading, the few who learn by observation, the rest of them have to pee on the electric fence. I want to say thank you so much to the folks that have signed up to help with the shoot lunches. I truly believe that having lunch after the shoot is a great way for us to get to know each other better and grow closer as a group. We still need lots of help, so please sign up in the note book in the office. We are not asking for a long term commitment. You can sign up for as few or as many dates as you like. You will be reimbursed for all costs and on the day you handle the lunch you will shoot free. On shoot days when there is no one signed up, there will be no lunch served.
