CUMBERLAND SHOW 2018 HORSE SECTION INTRODUCTION AND GUIDELINES FOR COMPETITORS Entry 2018 Wristband passes. Two wristbands will be allocated to the first horse, one for each subsequent horse up to a maximum of four wristbands. Wristbands must be worn on entry to the Showground. Anybody without a wristband will be charged for entry. Parking All Heavy, Light Horses and working hunter competitors must park as directed by official parking attendants. To aid traffic flow, competitors will be issued with a parking pass which must be displayed in the windscreen of your vehicle upon entry to the Showground. To gain access to the show rings all competitors must use the horse walk ways provided. Start Times Please note that there may be some traffic congestion leading up to and on the show field, therefore please allow plenty of time to arrive and prepare for your class. Under no circumstances will judging be delayed due to either the late arrival of competitors or to accommodate a competitor in another ring. Exhibits will not be allowed into the show ring once the command for trot has been given (ridden classes) or judging has commenced (In hand classes). Competitor Numbers Will be issued in advance of the show. Please ensure you are wearing the correct number for each of your classes as detailed in the catalogue. Failure to do so could jeopardise your qualification. Insufficient entries The committee reserve the right to amalgamate or split classes if necessary. Royal International Horse Show The Ridden Hunter and Working Hunter sections offer qualifying classes to RIHS 2019. A levy of 9 per class is included in the entry fee, which the Cumberland Show pays directly to the RIHS. The Cumberland Agricultural Society or any of its servants cannot be held responsible for any missing or incorrect registration details supplied. Olympia Horse Show - The Veteran horse/pony sections offer qualifying classes to The Olympia Horse show 2018. A levy of 10 per class is included in the entry fee, which the Cumberland Show pays directly to Senior Showing and Dressage Limited. Supreme Light Horse - To be pre-judged at 2.00pm in the horse section, prizes will be awarded in the main show ring at 2.30pm. The Champion from each Light Horse section and will take part, provided that their section has finished in time, Exhibitors will be advised on the day where to gather and stewards will be available to escort them. A Supreme In-Hand and a Supreme Ridden Champion will be chosen. These will go forward to be judged in the Champion of Champions. Champion of Champions - The Champion Heavy Horse, Supreme In-Hand Light Horse Champion and Supreme Light Horse Ridden Champion will be eligible to compete in the Cumberland Agricultural Society Champion of Champions competition in the Main Show Ring at 2:45pm. 11

The Cumberland Show is currently affiliated to the following societies which may affect more than one section and competitors entering this show whether they be members or not of the society agree to abide by the rules of those societies: ALL EQUINE EXHIBITORS PLEASE NOTE NO EARRINGS, PIERCINGS OR VISIBLE JEWELLERY WILL BE ALLOWED BRITISH SHOW PONY SOCIETY (BSPS) Entries in these classes are open to all. Show Affiliation No. BSPS 59/18 The following class no s are affiliated to the BSPS 28 & 29 (LR & FR) 31 & 32 (LR HT & FR SHT) 33 38 (SP & SHP), 39 & 40 (Heritage WHP), 41-43 (WHP) 85-88 (Heritage ridden). This show is affiliated to the British Show Pony Society (BSPS) and all persons entering, competing, showing or otherwise taking part in BSPS classes, whether or not members of the BSPS are subject to the rules of the BSPS including the disciplinary procedures, and shall be deemed to have consented to the jurisdiction of the BSPS. This show is a qualifier for the 2018 BSPS s to be held at Arena UK 22nd to 25th August 2018. The following will qualify 1st and 2nd prize winners 28, 29, 31, 34, 37, 38 & 43. BSPS Security Challenge This Show is a qualifier for the B.S.P.S. CHALLENGE The highest place pony in the Open Lead Rein, First Ridden, Show Pony, SHP, WHP, Cradle Stakes, Nursery Stakes, Int SRT, SH, WH and Heritage M&M Lead Rein, First Ridden, Ridden & WHP. Animals must qualify for the Challenge by attending any B.S.P.S. affiliated Show and competing in the appropriate class. Ponies must not have qualified for the 2018 Horse of The Year Show in the appropriate class. BSPS Champion of Champions This show is a qualifier for the BSPS Champion of Champions, the Champion Mini Show Pony, the Champion Mini WHP, Champion Open WHP/WH, Champion Open SHP, Champion Intermediate, will qualify. In Mixed Height classes the first prize winner will qualify. BSPS Best Rider The best rider in each of the following classes affiliated to the BSPS will be awarded a qualifying card for the final at the 2018 Summer Show:- Open Lead Rein, Open First Ridden, Open Show Ponies, Open Lead Rein Hunter Type, Open Show Hunter Ponies, Open Intermediate SRT, SH and WH Classes. BSPS Heritage WOW FACTOR Open to Ponies that have been placed First in Heritage affiliated Open/Restricted classes qualify for the Winner of Winners at the BSPS Summer show. In Mixed height classes the first prize winner will qualify. CHAPS UK This show is affiliated to The Coloured Horse & Pony Society (UK). Affiliation No. 18122. Both owner and the rider/exhibitor need not be a member of CHAPS (UK) nor must the horse or pony be registered with CHAPS (UK) to compete. However in order to Qualify both Owner and Rider/Exhibitor need to be a current showing member and present their valid Qualifier card IN THE RING for signing by the judge. Members to apply in writing to CHAPS (UK) for appropriate qualifier card. The CHAPS (UK) Show will be held on 30th August- 1st September 2018. Shows held on or after the Postal Entry closing date of Show will count as 2019 qualifiers. The following classes are CHAPS (UK) Qualifiers (Classes 94-99). (CHAPS registered animals in classes 28 & 29, Side saddle class 20, Sport Horse class 27 and in the Veteran section classes 105 112 may also qualify. For full rulings and information on competition/qualification, please refer to the CHAPS (UK) Members Handbook; or visit www.chapsuk.com for rulings. Only Skewbalds/Piebalds may compete these classes. 12

All stallions, 4 years old and over entering these classes must be graded with CHAPS (UK). All stallions must wear Stallion ID Discs in the ring without exception TGCA Affiliation No TGCA/06/18/011. Classes 100-103 are qualifiers for the Best of Breed Finals at the Traditional Gypsy Cob Association s (TGCA) National Breed Show TOYS. Stallions (four years and over) in order to enter any affiliated class MUST have their TGCA disc displayed on their bridle and be bitted as per the TGCA rulebook. Existing TGCA members must present their qualification card to the judge in the ring for signature. Non -members will receive a qualification card from the judge and will have 21 days to join TGCA and to register their horse to validate the qualification. Please refer to www.tgca.co.uk for further details including membership, horse registration and showing rules (contained within the members handbook). NCPA 254/18 This show is a qualifier for the NCPA Pony of the year show in September 2018. First & second prize winners in appropriate classes will qualify. The Supreme and Reserve In Hand & Ridden Champions will qualify for the NCPA GOLDEN SUPREMES held in September 2018. TSR Showing Finals This show is a qualifier for the 2018 TSR Showing Finals. Qualify and enter ANY of the Finals Central, East Anglia, North West, North East, South East, South, Wales & South West or Scottish. You do not have to be a TSR member to qualify or enter a final. The Rider/Handler qualifies and can enter any horse/pony in any number of finals. TSR Riders Finals 1st & 2nd riders qualify and will receive a qualification card in the ring. TSR Rider Finals 1st & 2nd riders qualify and will receive a qualification card in the ring. TSR In Hand Finals - The two highest placed handlers with a TSR in hand card will qualify in any In hand class. Handlers must have their cards signed in the ring by the judge/steward, cards are available free from the TSR website http://www.theshowingregister. co.uk NPS Classes This show is affiliated to the NPS entrants do not need to be members of the NPS to compete. The following classes are affiliated to NPS 64 to 73 (Shetland Ponies), 74 78 Fell Ponies, 80 88 (IH and Ridden M & M s). NPS Qualifying Rounds: These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part-breds are not eligible for Mountain & Moorland Classes. Qualifying rounds for most NPS competitions are open to ponies owned by NPS members and non-members, but only ponies owned by adult Qualifying or Life NPS members are eligible to qualify for the final of the competition. The highest placed pony, in each class will qualify for the final. Qualification may pass down to third place if the first and second ponies are already qualified. NPS/Rosettes Direct Home Produced Ridden - Riders of Home Produced ponies (see definition in the NPS Rules Book) can wear a white arm band in classes where this is indicated. These ponies are then eligible to qualify for the final at the NPS Summer Show. NPS Area 25 - Young Riders NPS Area 4 - This show is a qualifier for the NPS Area 4 Northern Breeders In hand Supreme, Sponsored by SUPREME PRODUCTS. The Champion and Reserve from the Mountain and Moorland In hand will qualify for the final to be held on Monday 27th August 2018 at the NPS Area 4 Summer Show. Qualifiers do not have to be Members of the NPS. RACEHORSE TO RIDING HORSE REQUIREMENTS The RoR Tattersalls Scottish Thoroughbred Show Series 2018 The RoR Tattersalls Scottish Show Series Qualifier Thoroughbred mare or gelding, 4years old or over, any height. Riders must be 15 years or over. Horses should be 13

ridden in a snaffle, pelham or simple double bridle. Horses should be plaited. The first three go forward to the championship at the Royal Highland Show 2019. All entries MUST be registered with the RoR and have RACED in GB. There will be a prize for the highest placed veteran 15years or over. The class will be run under the rules of RoR. Horses to be ridden by the judge. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to time in force. Competitors must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap. Racing injuries and blemishes will NOT be ignored in this series THE ROR/TBA (THOROUGHBRED BREEDERS ASSOCIATION) RETRAINED RACEHORSE CHALLENGE The Retrained Racehorse Challenge Mare or gelding 4yrs old or over and of any height. Riders must be 15 years old or over on the 1st January. Horses to be ridden in any suitable bridle and should be plaited. All entries must be registered with ROR and HAVE raced in the GB. The first three go forward to the championship at the ROR National Show at Aintree in August 2018. Horses will NOT be ridden by the judge. Competitors must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to time in force Racing injuries and blemishes ARE IGNORED in this series. The class to be judged 50% jumping 20% Style while jumping and performance. 30% awarded for individual show, manners and suitability to be retrained. The following points to be PHASE 1 - Jumping to be judged: 8 rustic jumps (2 6 to 3 foot with a maximum spread of 85 cm). deducted at the end of each jumping round: 10 points to be deducted for a knock down. 15 points to be deducted for a refusal. 20 points for second refusal. Elimination for third refusal or fall. PHASE 2 Class returns without boots and judged for an individual show/conformation. (In some classes, at the judge s discretion, horses might be asked to do a show following their jumping without leaving the ring. This is often the case with a large number in the class) Each horse to complete an individual show of no longer than 1 ½ minutes. Show to include the following movements: Walk, Trot, canter showing change of leg, extended canter (gallop) halt and stand, walk off on long rein. Total marks out of 30% for Show, manners and suitability to be retrained. Fences for the final at the Aintree can be up to a maximum of 3 6 For further details visit the ROR website www.ror.org.uk Amateur Definition An amateur is a person who for the purpose of ROR classes does not/has not during the current season or previous season: Engage(d) in breeding, livery, buying or selling, dealing or hiring horses (for the show ring) in a commercial capacity. Horses must not have been stabled at or reside in a Professional Producer s/trainer s yard (in the current season or previous season). Riders must not have ridden any animals produced by a Professional/Trainer in the current or previous season. Horses and riders must not have received any help from a Professional Producer/Trainer at a SHOW in the current or previous season. Horses must not have been ridden at a show by a rider who has ridden for a Professional/Producer Trainer in the current or previous season. Any breaches of this ruling will be taken seriously and will result in disqualification from future classes. Ingliston Elite Showing Series This Show is a qualifier and every horse placed 1st to 3rd in classes 16-19 ridden hunters, 24 ridden cob and 25-26 riding horse will qualify to compete in the appropriate class at the Finals held be held within Ingliston Grand Slam, at Ingliston Country Club, Bishopton, Renfrewshire. Saturday 22nd September 2018. Qualification will be from placings, no qualification cards will be awarded in the ring, and no qualification can go down the line. All qualified horses will be listed on the Ingliston Elite Show s page on our website. 14

TRADITIONAL GYPSY COBS Judging will follow the Coloured Horse classes but not before 10.30 am, please refer to timetable. TGCA Affiliation No TGCA/06/18/011. These classes are qualifiers for the Best of Breed Finals at the Traditional Gypsy Cob Association s (TGCA) National Breed Show TOYS. Stallions (four years and over) in order to enter any affiliated class MUST have their TGCA disc displayed on their bridle and be bitted as per the TGCA rulebook. Existing TGCA members must present their qualification card to the judge in the ring for signature. Non -members will receive a qualification card from the judge and will have 21 days to join TGCA and to register their horse to validate the qualification. If the Champion has already qualified, qualification will be handed down the line to the next eligible competitor. Once a competitor has qualified for Olympia in the Ridden section they are not allowed to qualify in the In Hand section and vice versa. All sponsors/ssadl rosettes 1st - 6th place in classes 105-110, Champion and Reserve rosettes plus sponsors vouchers. In the championship the winner will receive a sash and trophy.
