The birth flower for the month is the carnation. The third Monday of January is recognized as Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Have you ever met someone famous? Who was it? Describe your encounter. Sometimes by chance, people spot celebrities at an airport or restaurant without interacting with them. Has that happened to you? Have you ever gone to an event or traveled to a place in an effort to meet a celebrity and get their autograph or take their picture? Did you know anyone who went on to become famous? Who was it? If you could trade places with someone famous for a day, who would you choose? Why? If you could meet anyone famous, past or present, who would it be and why? New Year, New Challenge When it comes to a better brain boost, it s best to get out of your comfort zone, say doctors. That may mean learning to speak a new language or play a musical instrument, or taking on another activity that s new to you. Doing something challenging that requires being mentally and socially engaged and uses a high level of cognitive processes helps maintain the connections between brain cells. Researchers say pursuits that require continuous challenges showed the biggest benefits. Super Bowl 52 - Sunday, February 4, 2018 The first Super Bowl, on Jan. 15, 1967, featured the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The Chiefs lost, 35-10, and the Packers became the first world champions. Fur and Football Whether you re a fan of football, furry friends or both, Super Bowl Sunday offers a way to get your fix. For more than a decade, cable TV network Animal Planet has produced the Puppy Bowl, a pregame event in which a charismatic team of pups is assembled to compete in a four-legged version of the big game, complete with a Kitty Halftime Show for feline fans. All the furry participants come from shelters and are available for adoption.
