LSU ON THE INTERNET vs. LSU LOOKS FOR SEASON-HIGH SCORE AGAINST TWU The 11th-ranked LSU Tigers are coming off a season-best 196.475 performance against Alabama, and the team will look to build upon that score against the Texas Woman s Pioneers Friday. The 196.475 against Alabama was the first 196-plus score for the Tigers this season, and LSU will attempt to add to that against the Pioneers in order to increase the season average and eventually the Regional Qualifying Score. LAST TIME OUT - LSU TAKES DOWN NO. 1 ALABAMA LSU looked impressive on all four events - scoring 49-plus on each - to set a new season-high score and upset No. 1 ranked Alabama. Senior Susan Jackson continued her outstanding performance by earning a career-best 39.725 all-around total to lead the Tigers to victory. LSU did not have to count a fall, and the Tigers produced 17 score of 9.775 or better out of 24 routines. SUSAN JACKSON IN RARE AIR IN LSU HISTORY All-American Susan Jackson tied the school record for consecutive all-around titles to open a season with five. With an all-around crown against Texas Woman s, it will mark her sixth-straight all-around title to open the season, and it will also mark a new LSU record. Currently, Jackson is tied with former All- American Sandra Smith, who won five-straight all-around titles to open her LSU career as a freshman in 1980. Beadle, who won LSU s first national title on beam at the 1977 AIAW championships as a freshman, opened her sophomore season in 1978 with four all-around titles. A complete list of the top 25 team rankings is on the next page, including LSU s week-by-week rankings. INJURY UPDATES Once again LSU will only have nine of the 13 gymnasts available for Friday s meet. Freshmen Kaleigh Dickson and Lainie Fleming and sophomore Nikki Lyons will be out again this week because of injuries. Freshman Janelle Garcia is still experiencing a tender ankle, but she should be available if called upon against Texas Woman s. Freshman Ericka Garcia will be out this week and next because of eligibility issues, but she will make her debut Feb. 19 at Arkansas. JACKSON PACES LSU TO VICTORY OVER AUBURN Susan Jackson won all four event titles and her third-straight all-around crown to lead LSU to a 195.650-193.900 victory over Auburn. Jackson scored a 9.875 on vault, bars and beam and a 9.90 on floor. The Tigers scored a season-best 49.275 on floor to cap the meet and claim the win. ALL-AROUNDERS LEADING THE WAY Sabrina Franceschelli, Summer Hubbard and Susan Jackson have competed in the all-around in every meet for LSU this season. Jackson leads the nation in the all-around. Franceschelli has been solid, averaging a 38.885 all-around total while also producing a 9.730 average or higher in three events. Competing in her first year as an all-arounder, Hubbard has steadily improved on vault, posting a career-high 9.80 against Alabama. She averages a 38.635 all-around total, and she also averages a 9.745 on floor and a 9.725 on bars.

CAREER HIGHS FOR A FEW TIGERS IN VEGAS Several Tigers posted career highs at the Lady Luck Invitational. Senior Sabrina Franceschelli scored a 9.90 on vault, beating her previous best of 9.825. Sophomore Ashley Lee also scored a 9.90 on vault, besting her 9.80 from last season. Senior Summer Hubbard tied her career high on bars with a 9.95. Freshman Shelby Prunty saw her first action on bars and scored a 9.725 to help the Tigers earn the outstanding 49.275 in the event. LSU DOMINATES MARYLAND IN SEASON OPENER Despite three Tigers not being able to compete against Maryland, LSU ran away with a 194.375-190.625 victory against the Terrapins. The meet was close after two rotations, but LSU s 48.975 on floor sealed the dominating performance. Senior Summer Hubbard competed in the all-around for the first time in her career and finished with a 38.350, including a 9.80 on beam. TIGERS SWEEP INDIVIDUAL TITLES AGAINST MARYLAND Susan Jackson upped her career title total to 32 after winning the all-around, bars and floor titles against the Terrapins. Senior Summer Hubbard captured her fifth career beam title with her 9.80 score, and senior Kayla Rogers picked up her second career title and first on vault with her 9.875. LSU also finished 1-2-3 in the all-around with Jackson s 39.275, senior Sabrina Franceschelli s 38.475 and Hubbard s 38.350. EIGHT LETTERWINNERS RETURN; FOUR ALL-AMERICANS Sixth-ranked LSU will open the 2010 season with eight letterwinners returning, including four senior All- Americans in Susan Jackson, Summer Hubbard, Sabrina Franceschelli and Kayla Rogers who coach D-D Breaux will look to for leadership. The other returning Tigers are junior Sam Engle, and sophomores Nikki Lyons, Gloria Johnson and Ashley Lee. Lyons did not compete in 2009 as she redshirted with a broken ankle. MIX OF YOUNSTERS AND SEASONED VETERANS LSU goes into the 2010 season with an interesting blend of gymnasts in the roster. The Tigers feature four seniors with a plethora of experience, but the team also has five inexperienced freshmen who will look to contribute heavily this year. LSU only has one junior on the roster (Sam Engle) and three sophomores (Nikki Lyons, Gloria Johnson, Ashley Lee). The five freshmen are Kaleigh Dickson, Lainie Fleming, Ericka Garcia, Janelle Garcia and Shelby Prunty. RECORD SIX TIGERS EARN ALL-AMERICA HONORS LSU had a school-record six gymnasts earn All-America honors in 2009. Ashleigh Clare-Kearney (vault, bars, floor), Susan Jackson (all-around, vault, beam), Summer Hubbard (bars), Staci Schwitkis (vault), Sabrina Franceschelli (all-around) and Kayla Rogers (floor) earned recognition as All-Americans. Clare- Kearney, Jackson, Hubbard and Schwitkis picked up First Team honors while Franceschelli and Rogers earned Second Team recognition. ASHLEIGH CLARE-KEARNEY ENDS ON HIGHEST NOTE In 2009 Ashleigh Clare-Kearney ended her career as a Tiger by becoming the first LSU gymnast to win two individual national titles as she took home the vault and floor national championships. Clare-Kearney, a five-time First Team All-American, led LSU to back-to-back Super Six appearances in 2008 and 2009 and capped her career with the two titles in the final meet of her career. Clare-Kearney also wrapped up her career as the all-time leader in individual titles at LSU with 114. Although she finished her gymnastics career Clare-Kearney remains at LSU as a graduate student in Sport Management. NATIONAL RANKINGS (FEB. 8, 2010) RANK TEAM TEAM AVERAGE 1. Oklahoma 196.425 2.
