Vogel Intermediate, Conroe ISD Welcome Back, Texans! Parents, The spring semester brings good weather and summer clothes. As students are preparing their clothes for school, please take a moment to review the dress code for students. Shorts must be at fingertip length Leggings must be accompanied by tops that cover the backside No undergarments should be visible Tank top straps must be three fingers wide Shoes must have a back on them. Slides are not permitted By following the school guidelines, we can save tearful phone calls home for a change of clothing. Please feel free to call the office if you have any questions regarding the dress code. Have a great week! We are here if you need anything! Morning Arrival Important!! The building opens at 8:00am daily. Please do not drop your child off prior to 8:00, as there is no one on duty to monitor students. We are getting a lot of kids who arrive very early, which makes a long day for our students. If you have walkers or bikers, please plan a time for them to leave so that they are arriving after 8:00am. When dropping off students for clubs or sectionals, do not drop them off in the staff parking lot, in the car rider wait line to enter our parking lot, or anywhere on Geffert Wright, as this causes a safety hazard. Students may only be dropped off in the front lot in the drop off zone by the front door. Thank you for your assistance with this! Morning Car Rider Line has TWO lanes Please note that when getting in the morning car rider line, there are TWO lanes to wait in. The purpose for this is to get cars off of Geffert Wright Rd. When you enter the lane, please pull into the shortest lane. Once the lines start moving, each lane will take turns merging to cross the street. We are asking that parents follow proper traffic etiquette when dropping off their children, as everyone wants to get their children safely to school. We appreciate your assistance with this! Reminder - Teacher websites Many of our teachers have made the transition to Canvas web pages. In order to access the websites, you need to have a Parent Access Account. Once you have a Parent Access Account, you can log into Canvas using the same credentials. If you have difficulty logging onto Canvas, please click on the help button on the Login page, and then Report a Problem. CISD Technology staff will research the problem and get back with parents promptly. Let our office staff know of any specific concerns.

Drop off table Just a reminder that we have a drop off table in the front entry way for items that you bring to school for your child (lunch, instrument, flexi folder, etc.). Please put your child s name on the item (supplies are on the table) and leave it at the drop off table. We will not disrupt the class with a call to notify the student of the drop off, but they may come up and check the table on their way to lunch, class, etc. Lunch and Birthdays Please note that lunch may not be delivered directly from a restaurant or food vendor as we cannot verify that the parent initiated the deliver or approved of the food. Parents may personally deliver or drop off food from restaurants or other food vendors. Birthday treats may be served in the cafeteria once the classroom has finished eating lunch. Due to allergy, safety and sanitation concerns, any items served should be limited to store bought items and be individual items (cookies, brownies). My child doesn t feel great - Do I send to school or keep them home? Allergies are high right now, and that often makes students groggy in the mornings. Many times students wake up and don t feel great, but once they get to school, they usually perk up and complete the day successfully. If they continue to feel bad, they can visit the clinic for evaluation. The nurse will call home if there is a fever, or if the child continues to present symptoms. With that being said, we also have been hit hard with the flu. Be sure to practice good handwashing to stay healthy, and keep students home if they have a fever. Students need to be fever free for 24 hours prior to returning to school.

Parents, PTO meets the second Tuesday of the month at 10:00am. We would love to have you join us at our meetings! Our next meeting is Tuesday, February 13. Please email vogelpto@gmail.com if there is anything we can do for you! * Don t forget to purchase your child s yearbook! Order now so you will be sure to reserve a copy. We don t order many extras, and those sell immediately. There is an order form included in this newsletter, or you can go to www.balfour.com, find Vogel, and order your yearbook online! Time is almost up to order, so don t delay!! * BOX TOPS SUBMISSION TIME IS COMING UP! Our school will be sending in the Box Tops we ve collected by February 16th. Remember, our goal this year is to earn $1500. You can help us reach that goal by sending in your Box Tops as soon as possible. Once we send in all of our Box Tops, our school will receive a check, which we can use to purchase anything the school needs. Thanks for your help!

Immunization Requirements for 7th Grade The Texas state law immunization requirements for all incoming 7th graders for the 2018-2019 school year requires 2 vaccines. Tdap-Tetanus, Diptheria and Pertussis (if the student has not received a tetanus containing vaccine in 5 or more years) and Meningococcal-MCV4. These immunizations are routine 11 year old boosters. Please review your child s immunization status with your physician. If your child has already received the vaccines, or once they receive the vaccines, please provide a copy to the Vogel school nurse. If your child receives the vaccines after May 31, you will need to provide a copy to the school nurse at Irons Junior High. Please contact Gay Gohlke, Vogel school nurse, with any questions at 832-663-4309. Scheduling Classes for 7th Grade Students had a presentation from the Irons Junior High counselors regarding class selection for 7th grade. Counselors will be back at Vogel from February 12-15 to help students with scheduling during Language Arts classes. Schedules will be available on Student Access until February 16. Students will then receive a copy of their schedule during the 4th 9 weeks. Students and parents can review the schedule and return any changes by May 4 to Mrs. Johnson, 6th grade counselor. Any questions regarding schedules can be directed to Mrs. Johnson at 832-663-4300 or racjohnson@conroeisd.net.
