Latest News. NEWSLETTER OCTOBER & NOVEMBER 2014 Track Maintenance Day The club held a Track Maintenance Day on Saturday 18th October. We had a great turnout and everyone was keen to get to work. We had mums, dads and kids on the track scrapping away the loose surface on top. This bought the track back to a nice smooth surface. We moved the scoring hut into place on the finish line. The hut will be there temporarily until the frame is ready to be installed to raise the hut up 2.4m. We also had people installing speaker audio wire into conduit and buried the conduit up to the scoring hut. This will enable the sound system to be run from the hut eventually. So progress is being made and the track is looking Fantastic! A BIG BIG thank you to everyone who came and helped us achieve this. Congratulations to Jacob Cochrane who won the movie tickets on the day! Monday Coaching with Shell Smith! Bunbury BMX Club rider Rachelle Smith conducts coaching sessions on Monday afternoons from 4.45pm to 5.45pm. 2014 State Championships During the October school holidays, the Club had 31 Riders compete at the 2014 State Championships held at the Southside BMX Club in Perth. Our riders competed in some horrendous conditions with hot summer weather one day and the next day they were coping with the cold wind and rain. Despite the horrible weather our club was represented proudly by our riders in the Rider Parade and they all raced hard an bought home 15 State Plates. These plates that the riders won can be worn during their racing until the Championships next year which we have the privilege of hosting on 7th to 10th of October 2015. This will be an exciting event for the club and a great opportunity for our members. So congratulations to all our riders who toughed it out at States. You represented our club well and you should be very proud! Round 10 Super Series Hosted at Home We had a massive 50 riders compete on Saturday 1st of November in the Club s Super Series Event. This was the last round in the Series and the last chance for our riders to grab important points in the race to be in the top 8 riders for their class for the year. What an awesome day. We had beautiful weather and the mozzies kindly stayed across the road. The whole event ran very smoothly and we have had great feedback so far. The committee would like to offer a massive thank you to everyone who volunteered precious time to help us prepare and run the event. The event would not have been so successful if it wasn't for the hours and hours of time donated by our club members. We could not have done this without your help and support so please give yourself a big pat on the back! We had a lot of new riders compete and what great results everyone achieved. Halloween Fun Night The Halloween Fun Night was a raging success. Everyone who made the effort to dress up or dress their helmets looked amazing. It was a great turnout with 174 riders racing around the track in a spooky fashion! Our Pro Class riders put on a good show of our Pro section and 6 riders took home the cash prizes. Congratulations to Aaron Nottle, Josh Lathwell, Joey Graham, Kirsten Dellar, Jess Lathwell & Cat Hopkins! Rachelle Smith Takes out 2014 Myles Junior Sports Star of the Year Again! Rachelle Smith has beaten a strong field of 17 nominees to be crowned the 2014 Myles Sports Star of the Year for the second year in a row. The winner was announced at a function hosted by the City of Bunbury on Wednesday 22nd October. Rachelle was there to accept her award. Rachelle is an amazing aspiring athlete with a trophy cabinet overflowing with her achievements at only 17 years old. Congratulations Rachelle!
