TAS Rugby Carnival 2018
Welcome to TAS TAS HEADMASTER, MURRAY GUEST Since its inception, the TAS Rugby Carnival has grown to become the largest primary-aged rugby carnival in Australia and it is a great privilege for us to again host what is truly a special event. It is a pleasure to welcome so many players, coaches, parents and supporters willing to travel what is for many, a considerable distance, to help celebrate all that is good in school rugby. Rugby has a special reputation for forging bonds between players from distant parts and different cultures and backgrounds and we are proud that this carnival creates a great opportunity for the camaraderie and sharing of spirit that the game is famous for. This is also a very important event for the Armidale community and we thank the sponsors, organisers and volunteers for their efforts in making this possible. Particular thanks to Zoo Sport who are our carnival sponsor again in 2018. TAS DIRECTOR OF CO-CURRICULAR / CARNIVAL CONVENOR, WILL CALDWELL When the first TAS Rugby Carnival was held in 2005, few of us could have imagined how large it would become. That inaugural carnival attracted 18 teams and some 360 players, with renowned rugby schools competing alongside local school and club sides. The carnival has always been about young people having fun, experiencing rugby and meeting people in a carnival atmosphere. During the past decade many friendships have been made and strengthened on the playing fields and on the sidelines For our own students, the carnival is also part of a broad, inclusive, co-curricular program involving sport, the creative arts, public speaking and debating, and student clubs that engage young people to find their passion in life. Apart from the opportunity it gives them, the TAS Rugby Carnival also reaffirms the School s passion for positive engagement with our wider community something that is only strengthened from year to year. Thank you for your support for the 2018 carnival. Murray Guest Will Caldwell
