Octber 2, 1835 is designated as a Texas Heritage Day. We crdially invite yu t be a part f this year's celebratin and visit the site where Texas Independence began. This year's Cme & Take It Parade will be held Saturday, Octber 7, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with judging t begin prmptly at 9:00 a.m. Please be in place as early as pssible. Statement On Gun Exhibitin The Cme and Take It Cmmittee (Cmmittee) wuld like t express ur thanks fr being a participant in this year s parade. It is thrugh the hard wrk and dedicatin f rganizatins and individuals that make the Cme and Take It Parade such a sight t behld. In rder t make sure that the Cme and Take It Parade is as safe as pssible; the Cmmittee has implemented this firearm rule fr the prtectin f the participants, spectatrs, and staff. Enclsed yu will find with this letter an Assumptin and Release f Liability fr Firearms (Frm). This Frm must be filled ut by each rganizatin r individual that has a parade entry and signed by all participants wh will be exhibiting firearms in the parade. The Cmmittee is prud f Gnzales heritage when it cmes t firearms and prtecting peple s rights t pssess thse firearms, s it felt best nt t eliminate the exhibitin f firearms in the parade, but nly t regulate them s as t prvide a safe envirnment fr all. This rule cmes as a respnse t the extremely tragic and unwarranted events invlving firearms arund ur natin and t strive fr a better understanding f firearm safety. The Cmmittee is asking all parade entrants that will be exhibiting functinal firearms in the parade t help prmte that gun safety. T d s, the Cmmittee asks that all firearms be unladed and that each participant sign the Frm. A member f the Cmmittee will check each parade entry fr the display f firearms. Fr thse entries that are exhibiting firearms, a member f the Cme and Take It Cmmittee will ensure that each participant has signed the prvided frm and that each firearm is unladed. The Cmmittee des nt fresee any issues with this rule as it is fr safety reasns, but in the event any individual, rganizatin and/r member f an rganizatin that refuses t sign the Frm will frce the Cmmittee t deny that individual r rganizatin entry int the parade. Gnzales Cme and Take It Parade Rules 1. Parade begins PROMPTLY at 10:30 a.m., RAIN OR SHINE (bring rain gear r plastic cvering if needed). Judging will begin at 9:00 a.m. All entrants t be judged shuld be in place and set up by this time, and must remain until judging is cmpleted. 2. N undecrated private r cmmercial large trucks, tractrs etc. will be included in the parade. (Ex. beer trucks, grcery trucks, heavy farm equipment) Des nt apply t antique-type vehicles. Car & truck clubs, antique and thers, limited t 8 entries per club. 3. Auts and large vehicles must be driven by a licensed driver. Small vehicles (mini-bikes, g-carts, etc.) Must be perated by a persn 12 years r lder and parents are respnsible fr their cnduct. 4. ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE CONSUMPTION BY DRIVERS OR ANY PARTICIPANTS BEFORE OR DURING THE PARADE IS EXPRESSLY FORBIDDEN. IF A PARTICIPANT IS SEEN CONSUMING ALCOHOL PRIOR TO OR DURING THE PARADE, IT WILL RESULT IN THEIR IMMEDIATE REMOVAL FROM THE PARADE FORMATION AND WILL AFFECT FUTURE INVITATIONS. 5. N items such as candy, gum, kzies, water bttles r pencils, etc. will be allwed t be thrwn frm parade entries. Yur rganizatin may have smene walking beside yur entry handing ut these items. If yu are handing ut items, please d nt stall the parade. N children under 12 years r yunger may walk the parade rute. Marching drill teams will be limited t fficial schl grups, ROTC units and Military r veterans rganizatins. All schl bands and yuth grups are t be accmpanied by an adult leader. High Schl bands that participate are encuraged t bring their Junir High bands either t march with them r as a separate unit. Please cmplete a separate registratin frm fr each. Leader's name and a phne number must be submitted with registratin. NOTE All marching grups are t reprt t the starting pint at Saint Luis & Cllege Street prir t the parade rather than t their numbered space alng the lineup rute. 7. When disbanding, please dn t blck flw f traffic fr the entries behind yu. 8. Due t the length f the parade, it is very imprtant that it keep mving! There shuld be n mre than 1-2 car spaces between each entry. Please dn t intentinally stp r slw the mvement f the parade fr any demnstratin etc., maintain the set spacing. If yur entry has mechanical r ther prblems, pull ff t the side and we will try t get yu assistance. 9. N individual hrse & riders. Only members f rganized grups that are registered. All entries must have a designated cntact persn respnsible fr grups cnduct. There must be an address and current phne number prvided. All riders in cavalcade grups (hrses, trail riders, etc.) are encuraged t dress in cmmn attire r cstume as a grup. Example: blue jeans, western shirt, cwby hat, etc. It is preferred t have yur hrses diapered if pssible. 10. Schl entries limited t recgnized rganizatins. (Ex. FFA, FHA, DECA, cheerleaders, student cuncil, class fficers and ryalty etc.) Entry frms turned in t and apprved by schl principal. "CLASS" VEHICLES currently enrlled students. Reunin flats are permitted and encuraged. 11. All vehicles participating in the parade must be clean and in safe perating cnditin. They must als be OPERATED in a safe manner nt t endanger ther participants r spectatrs. 12. All flats, auts, trucks and nvelty entries shuld display their assigned parade psitin number in a readable manner n bth sides f vehicle fr judging purpses. A typed # (8 1/2" x 11") will need t be taped t bth sides f the vehicle windshield in the upper crners s they are visible. 13. The Parade Cmmittee retains the right t refuse entry f any flat, unit r individual nt cnfrming t the standards f the Cmmittee. Failure t cmply with the parade rules may result in remval frm the parade frmatin and will affect future invitatins. 14.
